Awesome video! I went out a few mornings ago and I took a friend who is a 100% bait never used a lure. We got a few nice jacks and really big yellow fin bream in the estuary, I noticed the wind was near non existent so I suggested we go out the bay. Dropped two bait rigs down, not a touch. Put down a small plastic bam nannygai 😁 2nd drop bam Nanny. My mate said that's just luck.... Got hot soo we started heading back. Before we got back I saw mackerel jumping so I threw out 2 lures. One was a 8m diver and the other 5m. My mate starts singing "They see me trollin they hate'n, tryna catch me trolling dirty 🤣 Doubting my skills. 10 minutes she winds in a 73cm finger mark and I wound in a spotty mackerel 😆 Fishing can be soo strange!
Wow! What an incredible fishing trip. Like you say, you never know and that's fishing! You ticked so many boxes. And a bonus with the fingermark & spotty! I'm gonna sing that see me rolling song next time. Bound to catch something good! 🎶😎🤪 Thanks heaps for dropping a comment! :)
Hey Lee, might be time to grab a few Halco Slidog 85's stickbaits. Might match the hatch a little better then the bigger stickbaits. Or a good old trust halco slice in 30gm. The long tail and mackies love em.
Hey Corey, thanks for your suggestion. Yeah, have since changed to little metal slicers, similar to the Halco ones, and they hook up straight away. But the fish were only dirty old mack tuna. Keen for some longtail though. :)
Out of all the cod you guys caught. I would have only kept 1 cod. Cod is a very underrated table fish. I love them. The nanniguy is a ripper though! I'm getting server withdrawals from fishing haha
Thanks Corey. Yeah, nanni is super tasty, and we found the cod to be quite good. Like you said, underrated. Lee tried to release all 3 of the cod, but only the smaller one was healthy enough to go. The 2 bigger ones died. Lee spent ages trying to revive them, as well. Apparently they don't do well being dragged up from that depth. Yeah, weather has been mint for the most part over the last couple of weeks. No wonder you're keen to get amongst them again!
@@GoneTroppo yeah cod get that barra trauma alot from the deep. Very fragile fish. But the weather has been way too good the last few weeks. My boat is almost done now. Repairs are nearly complete. Im excited. Really really keen to get out again.

Keen to see you get out there and do some spearing! You know the weather will be shite as soon as your boat is ready. 😜
@@GoneTroppo always the way isnt it haha. But ill just keep working until its good again and then come up for a couple of nights.
Before you let a fish that gets barra trorma back to the bottom put a whole in there stumic with a knife and it will get all the air out
Hi. Thanks for commenting. Yeah, did that for all 3 cod, but the 2 bigger ones still didn't do well. :(
