  • It's been more than a year since I last uploaded a video, after I was diagnosed with cancer and went through treatment and recovery. I wanted to get back to making videos and hiking, and doing all the things I love doing, but with too much on my plate, TH-cam videos were not a priority. The recovery is still not back to my former levels, but I feel strong and vital enough to get back in the saddle again. Please pardon the terrible sound quality... the wind was unexpectedly fierce..., and the blurry images... the light level was too low for my DJI Oslo Action 3. This is just a testing of the waters, before I get out more regularly for hiking and bicycling trips. Good to see you all again.

      Hi Ervinslens. I'm glad the video made an impression on you. That's a big part of my goal, but feel I still have a way to go in terms of quality. One day I'd like to make videos that are so immersive and arresting that you want to stay and experience the stories, and perhaps come away feeling that you've been there and empathized with what I might have spoken about.

      Thanks, Willie.I've already started getting out there again, and hope to get out further afield this year. I'm learning a lot about how to film the subjects and what to look for by looking at your videos. The Tokai Shizen Hodo series is amazing. I still don't get why more people don't view them! One person I've been watching a lot of lately is Jutaro. Check out his beautifully filmed and edited videos.

    It seeems to be just a short walk outside of the city through the enthralled nature but for you it must be more like a reborn moment to be able to see these beauty of nature again after such long time, glad to see you're back.

      @FrauWNiemand It's like starting life all over again in many ways. The walk to the mountain behind my home is just five minutes away, and yet, while I was sick, it seemed like a lifetime beyond my reach. It's wonderful being able to get out there again! It's a super hot summer, so a little hard to get out there right now. Thank you for still being there.

    I was looking forward to seeing your energetic appearance on the video! We've never seen each other, off course, but I feel very close to you like a friend, so I'm very happy to watch your new video. I felt like it was a video letter from my friend. Besides, the composition of your videos is very instructive. I sincerely hope that your stated goals in this video will be achieved as many as possible🔥

      Hi @mountaingoathikes! Thanks so much for your comment! I feel the same way about getting to know you. It's been great watching you go on your journeys and wax lyrical about the gear you've been trying out. I feel like you are a kindred spirit, and we share a lot of the same views about getting outdoors and immersing ourselves in a world that allows us to explore and feel free. I still have a lot to learn about making videos. So it's just as educational to watch yours and other people's. In face, you may want to take a look at Willie Walks Japan's videos from the comment below. You can learn a lot from them, especially the ones of his Tokai Shizen Hodo series he is walking right now.

      Hi Ted! Great to see you here! It’s funny to think that we first met through blogging, and now it’s moved on to this. I definitely will be reviving the blog again, and hopefully we can share that again, though maybe not with as many readers as in the past. TH-cam is exciting; I feel it has a lot of potential that is often overlooked and derided by people who don’t see the incredible conversations and aesthetic work being done here. Hoping I can contribute my small part. I’m also looking forward to getting together for a walk with you soon. It’s been difficult committing to trips and taking time out, because I haven’t had a job in a long while, and money is tight. Hopefully things are now a little more relaxed, and I can start planning things.

    Hola Miguel! What a surprise at seeing you active with your channel again. I can’t pretend to even guess at what it was like for you over the last year. Just glad that you are on the other side, if there is such a thing. I’ll try to keep up with your life’s adventures now that you are up and about. God’s blessings to you.

      @TacticalHealth Thank you, TacticalHealth. Sorry for the delay in replying. My fiancée was here for a few weeks, and we were traveling a bit. Now it's time to get out there with my camera and do some recording!
      I wondered how it would be with the channel, since I was away so long. Hopefully people who stopped by before will continue to stop by. Thank you for coming round!

    And much kinder I suspect?

      @laughing-knees  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @marifujisawa I'm not sure if I got any kinder, but I certainly feel like I can see other people's suffering better than I used to be able to do. And perhaps I have a greater appreciation for both being alive and for what time I have.

      @@laughing-knees alright, maybe softer then? It’s funny how people find lessons in life from pain and hard experiences.
      Prayers for your strength to get back 100%, and for a brighter future ahead in climbing/hiking.
