As a kid in the 90s I over looked this band, but the other night “one week” came on the radio and I instantly noticed that bass playing and knew something was special here lol. My first time hearing this song and I love it. And bass man brings it too lol
I was very surprised to watch Brian Wilson perform this song himself live at the Verizon Wireless Music Center on July 4th, 2001. Great show. Good times.
According to IMDB, there was no Late Night with Conan O'Brien on December 31st, 1996. The last show for 1996 was on December 27, 1996. The only Conan show in 1996 with BNL was on 17 April 1996.
Actually this show is from a very close alternative universe where Conan was on until 1997. Through some wrinkle in time the video somehow was uploaded to the wrong universe.
They played it while promoting "Gordon" back in 1993, and then when "Rock Spectacle" was released in 1996 following the success of "The Old Apartment" as a single from "Born On A Pirate Ship" this was the first single from it. Only reached #68 on the Hot 100, but the album did go platinum.
I was obsessed with this song in college, playing it endlessly over and over again. It seems I still am.
It really is hard to describe just how incredible the '90s were to anyone who didn't live through them...
I badly wish I did 😞 The musicians of this era are phenomenal and I love the BNL.
Best version ever. And yiu gotta love ths 90s lighting and colours. Awesome .
Be proud to have that bass player
He is a gem!✌🏼

I was wondering what ever happened to carrot top. I didn’t know he joined the ladies.
Troll dolls and Tickle-Me Elmo were popular in 1996. Resistance is fluffy.
Wow!

According to Wikipedia there was a show that night. Scott Thompson and Molly Shannon were the others guests that night.

Miss the conga drums
How come they cut the first verse on the two times they played this song on Conan?
Adam Dowell Likely because there was a time restriction for TV broadcast.
@@liammckinnon88 I would think if that were the reason you would cut a portion of the music outtro
Looks like the bass player is singing his own song
I wonder what Brian Wilson thinks about this song?

He performed it with his band for a while. I saw him perform it live on July 4th, 2001. There may be clips of him performing it here.
Really? 🤣🥰
Yes, now I do recall part of it on my “live at the Roxi “ cd 🤣👍🏻
Im lost here
Anyone know why they performed this song 2x on conan? also did it in 1993

Too slow. Still rad though.
