I moved from illinois to New Zealand when I was 18 for 5 years right around the time flight of the choncords began to air. Let me tell you getting all the inside NZ jokes makes the show so much better and it was already great. I was lucky to get such a unique experience :)
I'd like to see a few examples, because I didn't think I was missing much, unlike "Spaced" and its frequent pop culture references. I can't decide who my favorite British Commonwealth buddy team is - Bret & Jemaine, Tim & Mike (from Spaced), or Roy & Moss (from The I.T. Crowd).

Yesterday, when the short version of the "uncut" interview was uploaded, there were a ton of comments about how people couldn't believe Stephen didn't talk about Lord of the Rings. I went to primary school with Jermaine and his brother, east school in masterton new Zealand back in the 70-80s?! Jermaine was a quiet protective older brother, pretty normal and kool!!!
I feel like Jermaine had the fastest walk-on in the history of talk show interviews. 7 seconds from introduction to sitting down on the chair and he still managed to get a handshake in. He really wanted to just sit down I guess.

You do film? Check out "Eagle vs Shark" by Taika Watiti with Germaine but not Brett. Still its a great movie especially from a filmmaking perspective, and it propelled Taika's career.

Tad ridiculous asking them what have they been doing since their TV show. Brett won an Oscar, which surely is more than enough. Jermaine's been incredibly busy. He's been in loads of movies and TV shows: e.g MIB3, Legion, What we do in the Shadows, Wrecked, People Places Things, Divorce etc. And he's done huge amount of voicework: Moana, Rick & Morty, American Dad, the BFG, Rio (1 & 2), Trip Tank, Lego: Batman. They've hardly quit and retired back to NZ.

Its more to do with each countries definition of humor. Deadpan humor is popular in some countries and not in others. Americas comedy has a long history of slapstick with an expected applause and unified laughter. The ironic or sarcastic comedy of say NZ or the UK is usually to with people of that country, You enjoy groaning to a joke because you often groan in life etc. Jimmy carr for example is so well received in the UK because he is blunt and has no filter, like a lot of the British. But im america, you need a filter for most people or they are offended, so his comedy is not as popular.

Colbert really drops the ball in this interview. He has two comedic legends that have their own timing, and he fails to join them. He seems to stop them dead, but they are a great people, so they just keep going.
Jakinda??? SMH. I met Jemaine at Auckland airport on an LA bound flight. I was so excited and drunk I lit up like one of those foreign people he is talking about. No one was acknowledging him at all. He actually looked a lot "worse" than that so I wasn't even sure it was him. But I saw his name on his boarding pass! I messaged him on the plane and he replied! Soooo happy. I am a NZer btw, but spent 20ish years in CA.
Favourite episode might be "A New Cup", because of the hilarious song but the Keitha stuff and the bigoted fruit seller were also brilliant. Tough choice. What We Do in the Shadows is great! Can't wait for We're Wolves!

The fact that there isnt at least 3 seasons of Flight of the Conchords is a damn travesty!
They themselves stopped because creating new music was a lot of work. The first season they used already made music.
