Shawn, it’s called BSFT, Brief Strategic Family Therapy. It was co-developed by Olga Hervis and Jose Szapocznik, neither one of them from the fields of engineering nor communication.

He's very clear about what he's saying, and what he's saying is patently incorrect. It's a shame. I'd love a great intro clip on BSFT for presentations in my agency, but this simply isn't it.

I think what he is referring to is Systems Theory being the foundation for Family Systems Theory.
