Maybe Liu Kang wants to let Hanzo have a peaceful life and makes him a normal guy. But by doing so, Hanzo becomes vulnerable. He and his family are ultimately killed by Shang Tsung, and in the final moments of his life, Hanzo is filled with so much grieve and wrath that he becomes Noob Saibot. That would be cruel, I know, but also very fitting for the direction I think the game is going.
I could see that, and Lord Lui Kang purifies him and saves his soul but in return keeps the dark shadow powers but is human, and uses them to defend Earthrealm shit would be fire to have both Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Smoke, now Reptile, and then Noob on the same squad.

Scorpion’s ending in mk11 suggested that the death of his family was a fixed point. Liu kang probably tried to change that and knowing that he couldn’t, he could have erased hanzo altogether for the betterment of his era

Hanzo's character has honestly been stuck to the same story beats for the past few decades, something he only recently overcame when he regained his body in MKX and had *actual* development in MK11 (only to be later killed off to set his younger self upon that same heroic path, a rather weak trope if you ask me but we'll not get into that). The mantle of Scorpion is iconic, but his story is what made him Hanzo; the combination of both is what made him so memorable and a fan favorite to many, myself included. But as much as it might resonate with fans, from a writer's perspective it's completely unoriginal and uninspired by this point, especially considering it took them ten whole games to actually do something with him. If he's coming back, he's going to be something new; safe bet that he *will* come back eventually, whether at launch or in later DLC stories, because he's such an important character for a lot of people there's just no good reason for Netherrealm to leave him out. Central to Liu Kang's philosophy in recreating the timeline and reshaping everyone's story is that he gives them all a 'chance' at peace. I believe some things about Hanzo might change, but the core to both his heroism and tragedy is his love for his family: how cathartic would it be for fans to actually see him protecting the very things he lost in his past life?
Would love to see him as the same position as bo'rai cho. He knows how to fight, and he trains people who are very good at fighting, but hes honestly just chillin most of the time. (With his family preferably).

Theory would be this: bi Han becomes noob, kuai laing abandons being scorpion and becomes sub zero,and this era's hanzo hashashi dons the mantle of scorpion and forms his own ninja clan...
I have hated almost everything I've seen from this new timeline so far. I never really understood why they insisted on rebooting after Armageddon, only to reboot the reboot after MK11. To me, it's just lazy storytelling. They couldn't figure out where to take the original timeline, so they just start over again and make everything even more nonsensical. I no longer play the newer MK games and stick to the older stuff.
I think gameplay wise the game looks like a lot of fun, but I agree, I'm not too excited for this story but I am trying to keep an open mind. I'm not a fan of the guy they have as the lead story director (Dominic Cianciolo). I just kind of get the feeling that he doesn't understand the characters that were setup for us in the original timeline.

Honestly, I think it’d be a fun nod if Hanzo was the leader of the Japanese branch of the Lin Kuei, and gifted Kuai Liang the Scorpion name after training both brothers. Could explain why MK1 Kuai Liang, who is very much chinese, looks to be using a kusarigama with a rope instead of a chain. Also let Hanzo be a family man with a living wife and son, damnit!

I would like Hanzo as Takeda s master, loved the way they interacted in the comics. Maybe Hanzo will be just a normal ninja or even become Noob Saibot. My idea is to make him noob saibot and his shadow could be him from the other timelines trying to corrupt him into becoming a spectre of hell , but that's just me and my fan made ideas
Personally, I'm a supporter of the theory that Hanzo could be their father. It would mean Kuai was given the mantle directly from Hanzo, and could directly link to him potentially becoming Noob Saibot, as there seems to be an emphasis on the idea that Bi-Han killed their father to become grandmaster here, and we ALL know who Bi-Han's most well known kill is. XD This would in turn mean that the original Takeda never left the Lin Quei to create the Shirai Ryu, likely something Lui Kang had a hand in after seeing the fate of the Shirai Ryu from Scorpions ending. (Plus, i really like the original Smoke and hope that they'll actually develop him more here.)
To anyone that rejects this idea so fiercely for whatever reason, may I ask when in MK history has Reptile been able to fully shapshift into a human form? Or him being an oddity amongst his race for doing so and being driven out? Last I checked, the human state was a disguise that deteriorated the longer away he spent from his race. And what about Mileena and Kitana being blood sisters? Isn't Mileena supposed to be a CLONE? XD Or the Tarkatin being a deadly disease rather than a race? Or the biggest thing in regards to this: the Lin Quei being the Thunder/Fire Gods personal earth realm defense force? Liu Kang has changed A LOT, there's no telling where those changes end, especially since, you know, we don't yet have an explanation as to WHY Kuai Liang is Scorpion in the first place. I doubt they'd just erase Hanzo's existence completely, and while I am partial to the idea that he's living peacefully with his family this time, him being the former grandmaster would add a layer to his relationship with the brothers here while maintaining some familiarity with their previous incarnations. And once again: the Shirai Ryu was a rogue faction of the Lin Quei, if the original Takeda never left, the Shirai Ryu wouldn't be formed. And in that case: who's to say that Hanzo didn't join this new Lin Quei? Especially if they were more like the Shirai Ryu here? We won't know until either Hanzo is revealed or the game releases obviously, and I won't mind if I'm wrong (I'm just invested and want to see where they take this new universe) but it's ignorant to throw aside 1 theory because it doesn't adhere to the the previous timelines cannon despite ALOT of changes not adhering to previous cannon.

One theory I’ve seen is that Shang Tsung’s timeline at the end of Aftermath also happened and Takeda is one of the resistance members who came over to Liu Kang’s timeline possibly following Shang Tsung who also entered Liu’s timeline. Think a future Trunks/Kyle Reese.
Bro I beat this game 3x already just so I can immerse myself more into the lore and understand it a little bit more but honestly this story line just makes no sense. Let’s face it Hanzo cannot be scorpion in any shape or form in this timeline. I see people saying that’s good because now he can finally be happy with his wife and kids…well he won’t have neither of them because Kuai Liang already has them and that’s been proven to be the case. Also, I see a lot of people saying for Hanzo to be scorpion, he needs to be a vengeful spirit..well Kuai Liang is scorpion and he hasn’t been through anything so what’s actually going on?? I think it’s just a flawed plot. Isn’t it strange that the only people that’s out of place is Hanzo and Kuai Liang, everybody else falls right where they should be except these two. If you ask me, Hanzo Got robbed of everything again.
My thoughts are 1. He will not be in the time line unless alternate universes are used again. 2. And one I’m hoping for, is that he becomes a part of the Shirai Ryu clan under the mentorship of Kuai Liang and becomes the new Sun Zero as Bi Han slaughters that clan and becomes Noob Saibot. Kuai Liang stays Scorpion and goes rogue while Hanson re vamps the Lin Kuei and is the new Sun Zero. He could also be Bi Hans son that Kuai raises if they decide to add that in there, which would be cool. Thinking about it, he couldn’t be Bi Hans son without his last name,so I’m going with just being one of Kuai Liangs top students, or maybe just a rogue Cryo Mancer he recruits who was on a destructive path, but then trains him to hone is abilities, teaches him about the history of the LK and SR, then proceeds to take the mantle after the above mentioned takes place.
Hanzo Hasashi has to be in the game. If he isn't scorpion then big expectations are set for his character. If he gets removed entirely they can expect a riot. It would be like if the DCEU decided to make a DCEU without Batman

You never turned me wrong, MK Temple. I always love your videos and they'd been a guide for the series especially the 3D era, aside from MK Konfessions who left. I believe that it might just be Smoke, thru process of elimination. But I can also be wrong, and Smoke can still be Tomas like always. If it's Tomas, and if he's Czech and not Japanese, then...maybe Hanzo might be nonexistent, even though I never want him to be.

Thinking bi Han probably already killed Hanzo. - Kuai Liang will be forced to kill Bi Han and take up the mantle of Sub Zero -Hanzo will come back as a demon warrior after Sub Zero. -Bi Han will come back for revenge against Kuai Liang. But I’m very interested in King Lao
I won't be surprised if Hanzo Hasashi becomes a standalone identity liberated from the identity of Scorpion and the Shirai Ryu... and perhaps, somehow, at least Satoshi Hasashi lives at well (Harumi surviving would be nice also).

I've actually never seen conquest! But I don't think it's out of the question to review that or Defenders of the Realm. I've only seen a handful of episodes of the cartoon and it was probably back in the 90s when I was a child haha.
Kronika was not erased she was killed shinnok and cetrion and are elder gods and are not affected by time. Cetrion died in MK 11 ans shinnok was beheaded and most likley liu kept him that way to prevent him from returning
Hanzo not being scorpion, makes the most sense to me because he became scorpion for the worst reasons but since they made it so quan Chi never killed his family and manipulated his memories to think it was bi-han he doesn’t have a reason to become a warrior for revenge
Hello mk temple!! After watching this video, I am honestly stumped on this one with where Hanzo could be in the fire gods new universe. Since kui liange is the new scorpion and my friends are leaning towards smoke with this, I believe that this mystery is just one of the cases that we just haven’t had much intel to go on, same as who later becomes havik. I am however proud to say I knew Geras would return from the keepers of time trailer😂
To be real I’d like to see hanzo just be hanzo have a cool warriors moveset of his own and to have the shirai ryu be allied with the Lin kuei this way he’ll be able to keep his family and train his son to be a cool future character
I think I saw a bit in a trailer where Scorpion tells Sub Zero that even though they don't share the same blood, they are brothers. I deduce that Hanzo is just Scorpion and part of the Lin Kui.
Give Bi Han some damn spotlight for a change. If he turns into Noob Saibot ill be pissed. I dont think will happen due to the fact Kuai is Scorpion in this era.

Just completed this game & I had vast amount of confusion, starting from the identity of scorpion, the odd humour and the ending which is reminiscent of the Armageddon intro among others

It makes sense for him to be Smoke in the new timeline the backstories are very similar and they just can’t throw away Hanzo, either smoke or have him be Noob Saibot
he may not be present for now but if NetherRealm wants to make a new series based on this new timeline we could see him in future games along with the shirai ryu clan cause as shown in the lin kuei trailer sub zero wants to turn the lin kuei against liu kang so it is possible that kuai liang leaves the lin kuei and forms the shirai ryu clan and from there hanzo could return (of course these are only theories nothing has been confirmed)
I am hoping that he just comes in as Hanzo Hazashi, Shirai Ryu ninja and a defender of earthrealm. Unfortunately he would not have the hellfire as that comes from being a wraith from hell and they would need to give him a different fighting style compared to the new Scorpion.

Maybe lou kang just made liang and hanzo as one as it would make sense since the scorpion from mk1 is bi hans brother but unlike others from his clan he has the hell fire abilities of hanzo so may be Kang thought it would be the best outcome and need for the current mk world.
If he's not Takeda (I too thought of Mythologies), I think he's going to be absent from this game. From what I can tell from the roster so far (and based on supposed leaks), we might also not see Jax as a playable fighter (he's only a Kameo so far). As such, it's possible that they're holding off on some series mainstays for this new entry to give others some time to shine. Hanzo only missed out on Vanilla MK3 (was added in UMK3) while Jax only missed out on '92 and Deception (was added in Unchained). That being said, not having Hanzo or Jax would suck.
As i know in Invasion mode, Hanzo was keep seeing his wife being fatality doll, until actual timeline where she marries Kuai Liang and he seeks for revenge cuz if he cant have her then no one can. Idk if its canon or Invasion mode is again different timeline but . . . well, theres a chance.
Mk 1 finally out and it turns out in the smoke ladder ending that Hanzo is a kid who gets adopted by smoke. So yeah it’s not what some people were expecting.
I'm curious if we'll see Hanzo at all. I would've liked it if Kuai and Hanzo were brothers instead. But I also like Bi-Han, I just hope they don't make him generically evil and let him be more of a true neutral guy looking out for himself, at the very least, or an anti-hero. We still don't know if Smoke is still Tomas or nat.

If Hanzo isn't in the game (deleted as a character for example) im skipping out on it. Im not protesting, it's just not for me. If Hanzo becomes a new character, then he'll be my main. ill get the game then. Scorpion's moves caught my attention as a kid but his bios, endings, and his identity (revealed in Mythologies Sub-Zero) are what kept me around.
But what if the special moves are completely different, though? He is not Scorpion anymore. Everyone' backstory has changed. I'm skipping this game for different reasons.

I have hated almost everything I've seen from this new timeline so far. I never really understood why they insisted on rebooting after Armageddon, only to reboot the reboot after MK11. To me, it's just lazy storytelling. They couldn't figure out where to take the original timeline, so they just start over again and make everything even more nonsensical. I no longer play the newer MK games and stick to the older stuff.
I have the same thought. I'm going skip this game. I'm not a fan of the new backstorys either.
I think gameplay wise the game looks like a lot of fun, but I agree, I'm not too excited for this story but I am trying to keep an open mind. I'm not a fan of the guy they have as the lead story director (Dominic Cianciolo). I just kind of get the feeling that he doesn't understand the characters that were setup for us in the original timeline.
@@JoeyXSmith Yep. They're stripping away what made these characters unique to begin with. MK9 took some liberties with certain characters, but nothing to this degree.

Honestly, I think it’d be a fun nod if Hanzo was the leader of the Japanese branch of the Lin Kuei, and gifted Kuai Liang the Scorpion name after training both brothers. Could explain why MK1 Kuai Liang, who is very much chinese, looks to be using a kusarigama with a rope instead of a chain.
Also let Hanzo be a family man with a living wife and son, damnit!

I would like Hanzo as Takeda s master, loved the way they interacted in the comics. Maybe Hanzo will be just a normal ninja or even become Noob Saibot. My idea is to make him noob saibot and his shadow could be him from the other timelines trying to corrupt him into becoming a spectre of hell , but that's just me and my fan made ideas
Personally, I'm a supporter of the theory that Hanzo could be their father. It would mean Kuai was given the mantle directly from Hanzo, and could directly link to him potentially becoming Noob Saibot, as there seems to be an emphasis on the idea that Bi-Han killed their father to become grandmaster here, and we ALL know who Bi-Han's most well known kill is. XD
This would in turn mean that the original Takeda never left the Lin Quei to create the Shirai Ryu, likely something Lui Kang had a hand in after seeing the fate of the Shirai Ryu from Scorpions ending.
(Plus, i really like the original Smoke and hope that they'll actually develop him more here.)
Not possible Hanzo and the Shirai Ryu are Japanese. Bi Han and the Lin Kuei are Chinese.

To anyone that rejects this idea so fiercely for whatever reason, may I ask when in MK history has Reptile been able to fully shapshift into a human form? Or him being an oddity amongst his race for doing so and being driven out? Last I checked, the human state was a disguise that deteriorated the longer away he spent from his race.
And what about Mileena and Kitana being blood sisters? Isn't Mileena supposed to be a CLONE? XD Or the Tarkatin being a deadly disease rather than a race?
Or the biggest thing in regards to this: the Lin Quei being the Thunder/Fire Gods personal earth realm defense force? Liu Kang has changed A LOT, there's no telling where those changes end, especially since, you know, we don't yet have an explanation as to WHY Kuai Liang is Scorpion in the first place. I doubt they'd just erase Hanzo's existence completely, and while I am partial to the idea that he's living peacefully with his family this time, him being the former grandmaster would add a layer to his relationship with the brothers here while maintaining some familiarity with their previous incarnations.
And once again: the Shirai Ryu was a rogue faction of the Lin Quei, if the original Takeda never left, the Shirai Ryu wouldn't be formed. And in that case: who's to say that Hanzo didn't join this new Lin Quei? Especially if they were more like the Shirai Ryu here?
We won't know until either Hanzo is revealed or the game releases obviously, and I won't mind if I'm wrong (I'm just invested and want to see where they take this new universe) but it's ignorant to throw aside 1 theory because it doesn't adhere to the the previous timelines cannon despite ALOT of changes not adhering to previous cannon.
@@eonnexus all the changes you mentioned are ok, are not that problematic but Hanzo as Grand master is too much. People thinking Hanzo is Smoke, Grand master or Noob Saibot looks like they want Hanzo to being related to the Lin Kuei brothers, but could be just Hanzo Hasashi or being a new ninja.

One theory I’ve seen is that Shang Tsung’s timeline at the end of Aftermath also happened and Takeda is one of the resistance members who came over to Liu Kang’s timeline possibly following Shang Tsung who also entered Liu’s timeline. Think a future Trunks/Kyle Reese.

Bro I beat this game 3x already just so I can immerse myself more into the lore and understand it a little bit more but honestly this story line just makes no sense. Let’s face it Hanzo cannot be scorpion in any shape or form in this timeline. I see people saying that’s good because now he can finally be happy with his wife and kids…well he won’t have neither of them because Kuai Liang already has them and that’s been proven to be the case. Also, I see a lot of people saying for Hanzo to be scorpion, he needs to be a vengeful spirit..well Kuai Liang is scorpion and he hasn’t been through anything so what’s actually going on?? I think it’s just a flawed plot. Isn’t it strange that the only people that’s out of place is Hanzo and Kuai Liang, everybody else falls right where they should be except these two. If you ask me, Hanzo Got robbed of everything again.
My thoughts are 1. He will not be in the time line unless alternate universes are used again. 2. And one I’m hoping for, is that he becomes a part of the Shirai Ryu clan under the mentorship of Kuai Liang and becomes the new Sun Zero as Bi Han slaughters that clan and becomes Noob Saibot. Kuai Liang stays Scorpion and goes rogue while Hanson re vamps the Lin Kuei and is the new Sun Zero. He could also be Bi Hans son that Kuai raises if they decide to add that in there, which would be cool.
Thinking about it, he couldn’t be Bi Hans son without his last name,so I’m going with just being one of Kuai Liangs top students, or maybe just a rogue Cryo Mancer he recruits who was on a destructive path, but then trains him to hone is abilities, teaches him about the history of the LK and SR, then proceeds to take the mantle after the above mentioned takes place.
I really hope that hanzo is scorpion in MK 1 and I hope we get jade as a playable character in MK 1
Hanzo Hasashi has to be in the game. If he isn't scorpion then big expectations are set for his character. If he gets removed entirely they can expect a riot. It would be like if the DCEU decided to make a DCEU without Batman
Kuai lang is sub-zero from previous timeline. And the present of MK1 he's scorpion. Anyone knows When Smoke talks about that he was almost killed by a kid. When smoke finds out that the boy that is trying to kill him was looking for a way to survive on the streets. When smoke felt a sad thing on his past. He Part takes to take the boy in the shirai ryu dojo to have more students and to learn and to have a rightfull path and when the boy impress kuai lang and thomas. known as smoke and scorpion. They finally named him Hanzo hasashi the real known scorpion on the previous MK series

You never turned me wrong, MK Temple. I always love your videos and they'd been a guide for the series especially the 3D era, aside from MK Konfessions who left. I believe that it might just be Smoke, thru process of elimination. But I can also be wrong, and Smoke can still be Tomas like always. If it's Tomas, and if he's Czech and not Japanese, then...maybe Hanzo might be nonexistent, even though I never want him to be.

I've actually never seen conquest! But I don't think it's out of the question to review that or Defenders of the Realm. I've only seen a handful of episodes of the cartoon and it was probably back in the 90s when I was a child haha.

Kronika was not erased she was killed shinnok and cetrion and are elder gods and are not affected by time. Cetrion died in MK 11 ans shinnok was beheaded and most likley liu kept him that way to prevent him from returning

Hello mk temple!! After watching this video, I am honestly stumped on this one with where Hanzo could be in the fire gods new universe. Since kui liange is the new scorpion and my friends are leaning towards smoke with this, I believe that this mystery is just one of the cases that we just haven’t had much intel to go on, same as who later becomes havik. I am however proud to say I knew Geras would return from the keepers of time trailer😂

I think I saw a bit in a trailer where Scorpion tells Sub Zero that even though they don't share the same blood, they are brothers. I deduce that Hanzo is just Scorpion and part of the Lin Kui.
He was talking to smoke, not sub zero. Smoke was adopted by scorpions and sub zeros father after the Lin kuei killed smokes parents for trespassing

In Smoke's arcade ending, Hanzo is revealed to be a Japanese boy who joins the Shirai Ryu.
Knowing that Liu Kang is the one responsible for all these changes, I wouldn’t be surprised if he just let Hanzo have a normal peaceful life with his family rather then having him go through another tragedy
i like to think that Liu Kang made it so Hanzo can be happy with his wife and kids
Just completed this game & I had vast amount of confusion, starting from the identity of scorpion, the odd humour and the ending which is reminiscent of the Armageddon intro among others

It makes sense for him to be Smoke in the new timeline the backstories are very similar and they just can’t throw away Hanzo, either smoke or have him be Noob Saibot
he may not be present for now but if NetherRealm wants to make a new series based on this new timeline we could see him in future games along with the shirai ryu clan cause as shown in the lin kuei trailer sub zero wants to turn the lin kuei against liu kang so it is possible that kuai liang leaves the lin kuei and forms the shirai ryu clan and from there hanzo could return (of course these are only theories nothing has been confirmed)

I am hoping that he just comes in as Hanzo Hazashi, Shirai Ryu ninja and a defender of earthrealm. Unfortunately he would not have the hellfire as that comes from being a wraith from hell and they would need to give him a different fighting style compared to the new Scorpion.
He's in Smoke's ladder ending. He and Scorpion take him in as their Shirai Ryu's first initiate.
Hanzo will probably be the Noob Saibot of the New Era.

Maybe lou kang just made liang and hanzo as one as it would make sense since the scorpion from mk1 is bi hans brother but unlike others from his clan he has the hell fire abilities of hanzo so may be Kang thought it would be the best outcome and need for the current mk world.
If he's not Takeda (I too thought of Mythologies), I think he's going to be absent from this game. From what I can tell from the roster so far (and based on supposed leaks), we might also not see Jax as a playable fighter (he's only a Kameo so far). As such, it's possible that they're holding off on some series mainstays for this new entry to give others some time to shine. Hanzo only missed out on Vanilla MK3 (was added in UMK3) while Jax only missed out on '92 and Deception (was added in Unchained). That being said, not having Hanzo or Jax would suck.

As i know in Invasion mode, Hanzo was keep seeing his wife being fatality doll, until actual timeline where she marries Kuai Liang and he seeks for revenge cuz if he cant have her then no one can.
Idk if its canon or Invasion mode is again different timeline but . . . well, theres a chance.
Lui Kang probably made it to where Hanzo and his Family/Clan were unharmed, which would prevent him from becoming Scorpion.
Mk 1 finally out and it turns out in the smoke ladder ending that Hanzo is a kid who gets adopted by smoke. So yeah it’s not what some people were expecting.

But I also like Bi-Han, I just hope they don't make him generically evil and let him be more of a true neutral guy looking out for himself, at the very least, or an anti-hero. Scorpion's moves caught my attention as a kid but his bios, endings, and his identity (revealed in Mythologies Sub-Zero) are what kept me around.
But what if the special moves are completely different, though? He is not Scorpion anymore. Everyone' backstory has changed. I'm skipping this game for different reasons.

Hanzo being done away with was one of the worst things after the brotherhood he and Kuai Liang formed in MKX and MK11
best bet with hanzo being in mk1 is if he was reinroduced as a completely new character . other than that i really cant see any other way that he can be in this game but just a normal dude with his family.
