Can't get much better guide than this. I held up watching, because I started laughing when I saw the vintage air bix. I was thinking you would finish and just be sitting in the car, in the garage, enjoying fhe cool breeze! With the garage door open, of course. Black Chankla, is the name of my dulcimer, balilika, timpani band. We lkay heavy metal ASMR.
Never underestimate the power of the chonkla! Great video, that dash removal music montage was awesome! I always heard fox body heater cores were a nightmare to replace and now I see they were right!
This is where you just send the car to me and I put it all back together and send it back to you. By the way the mass air meter should be on a bracket to hold it straight and parallel, it makes a difference.
I really enjoy your videos. They’re informative and entertaining. I have an 89 5.0 GT that belonged to my grandfather before he passed away. My father and I have been doing some work to it whenever I have money to buy parts. I was able to get my hands on cobra intake that will go on it eventually. Just need a throttle body and bigger injectors and mass air. Watching your videos Inspires me to keep working on it.
@VeteranRevivals already out. Doing a coyote swap on it and upgraded the brakes for hydroboost and was going to just replace the heater core but saw this kit and had to get it. My daughter wants as and heat.
Reach out to Aces EFI, they might hook you up. They took care of our brother Casey Custons. Worth a try. Love to see what their kit does for the car in 0-60 before and after
TY for your service!!! I’m old school go carb!! He had a lot of same problems your having , changed it to carb no more problems!! Just remember what ford stands for (FIX OR REPAIR DAILY) !! lol keep up the great work!!
Awesome work as always, the intro master! When will mainstream auto enthusiasts recognise your value? I thoroughly enjoy your efforts and content from Australia 🇦🇺
Just a thought I had. I had an 82 gt that had the same high idle problem but with a carb. I found that it had factory Cruise and up under the dash by the brake pedal there was a vacuum operated switch. I blocked that off and stopped the high idle on deceleration. Just a thought. The hose went to the vacuum block on the firewall
Up here in Connecticut we fight with rust! Plastic is usually good and down south no rust but, interiors and plastic get baked… so, where is a good part of the world that does no damage? lol
If you ever pull your dash out again that wiring harness Will unplug down by the fuse panel and you can leave it clipped into the backside of the dash.
Grand Master Flash (veteran) Yes, go aftermarket EFI or Carb. Look into the Aces Kill shot kit. I just bought one, was about 1k for everything (TB, wiring, screen, tuner, sensors, distributor, coil)...of course you'll need an intake manifold on top of that cost no matter which way you end up going.
@@VeteranRevivals It's as cheap as going Carb, possibly less depending on some factors. A local tuner turned me onto Aces earlier this summer. Prior to purchase I called Aces tech line, emailed a couple times as well, each time the call was answered and email returned promptly. Then I checked out a couple FB groups and spoke on the phone to two of the Aces tuners from this group. I finally made the purchase through Justin as he is a dealer and was able to sell for a bit less than the actual Aces site. Justin was nice enough to return my call quickly and answer all my questions...prior to buying from him. Just passing along my experience thus far. Justin also has a yt channel. th-cam.com/video/3GRM7EW6gRE/w-d-xo.html
Have You looked into the Edelbrock Pro flow 4 system it's reasonably priced and comes complete with everything that You need to install & program they work great and can be upgraded to make more power ! Best Wishes and Best of luck please keep Us updated , Thank You . 🇺🇸🇵🇷🦊👍
I just went through all this idle stuff on mine after heads/cam/intake, be it a 94 with a T4MO, not a Fox A9L whatever they're similar. I ended up spending stupid money on a Holly Terminator-X with MF Kustoms adapter to run it through the stock engine harness for an easier install. AndersonFordMotorsports sells these packages. My car now runs better than it ever did stock drivability-wise, but I'm broke, lol. I'm like you after doing all this, I'm like hrm maybe i shoulda ditched efi, and I still feel that way because say that adapter goes bad, or my dinosaur-aged harness kicks the bucket I'm probably doing that. Anyway, about your idle thingy, I had the same thing. I had the surging on initial startup before warm too. Also say you clutch- in while rolling, the stock computer waits till you come to a stop then idles down the IAC, you touch the gas when creeping in traffic, same unbearable stuff. From my little research before ditching the stock computer there's something in the original computer called "rolling high idle", and it's basically responsible for this. It may be something you can only get rid of via a chip tune, in which case you need some ancient guru that knows and cares about doing anything on these old OBD1 Ford systems in your area, and you need a chip that plugs into your computer which are going the way of the dodo themselvs. I'm in Canada, so that's a no-go by default, hence my switching to Holly EFI.
I have both a terminator x fox and a sniper fox.. both work well but the terminator is definitely my preferred upgrade.. you should definitely consider the terminator especially since LMR is now selling the fox specific kit again
Ok maybe This would help. I got ahold of Ford motor company.s Base idle reset a couple of years ago and when I was having a problem with idling. The document said you adjust it just like you did and then you have to what I call. Turn key drive. And that means drive and stop and turn the key off drive in again (miles) that helps to.ecu to relearn your adjustments....rpms hanging was my Distributor I got a cheap one first to see if that was the problem it was..sorry so long a comment 🤣🤣
I'm an EFI Fox guy. I've never owned a carb car, and I wouldn't know what to do with a carbed motor. But I fully support your reasoning for carb-ing your SBF. And I'd like to learn what you do. Just don't put an f-ing gm motor in it!
When I bought my 1983 Mustang GT convertible the AC was removed, and heater core disconnected as they probably failed, and no one wanted to fix it, bummer. I live up here in Ontario, Canada, it gets cold in the winter and hot in the summer, and my car gets put away for the winter. I'm considering reinstalling the AC and heat system and just wondering to go factory set up or the Vintage Air system, what's your thoughts as budget is always a factor also? LMR sells a complete set with the new refrigerant upgrade also more a factory set up. Nice job with your new Vintage Air system!!
Personally I am not a fan of the vacuum operated system, too many places for potential leaks and failures. With that being said, I never had issues with the a/c in my 91 GT 😂
sir, those issues you mentioned are the common foxbody mod's. if you cam or HCI it is typical, please send me a email and I can help you with them. I have fixed it. or atleast got it down to 900-1000 idle.
Why these kits exist is because everyone thought it was "cool" (see what I did there) to hack out the a/c on these cars for 5 extra HP. It's more likely that the a/c has been removed these days.....someday I too with have stupid expensive a/c in my 92......someday.
I have a black 85 carbed mustang with no factory ac in FL. The wife said she wont go in it until we get ac in it. This may be the answer. Dashboards are the most evil thing ford has ever designed. Nothing is good about working under them, in them, or removing them.

Thank you for reminding me why I don't want to take another dash apart! Gonna have to before winter 😪
Absolute torture

😂😂 thank you!
The cloud of dust when you dropped the flop back down sent me. Gotta love the south west.
😂 I built that engine in this shop too
Love the comedic intro’s
Haha thank you 🤙
Those chanclas can be deadly!

The chancla of doom !

The vintage air is on my wish list for my Stang.
It's definitely a nice kit, Earl will get one at some point
@@VeteranRevivals ive been looking for an install of one of these kits on a foxbody. looking forward to this one !
@454kingss enjoy!
Received my "If it aint broke" shirt this week. Nice quality and it's actually sized right.A lot of youtubers have a problem with that. Thanks.
Nice! Thank you for the feedback!
Video was very helpful as I am about to switch over to this kit
Nice! Have fun! 🤙
Clean work man!! I like attention to detail and appreciate clean work!
Thank you sir!
Terminator x with the stealth 1250 TB was the best thing I did to my procharged fox
Does the term x get rid of the MAF? Did you have to get larger injectors?
Yes terminator x eliminates the maf

Nice Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching!
You do know that removing your Foxbody dash is a rite of passage if you own one of these. Done it twice, it’s not that bad.
What's more annoying to you.. removing/installing the dash or the run channel weather tripping? 🤔
@curtismccombs2212 haven't had the pleasure yet, but I'm sure it's coming
Love the ac video. I'm getting ready to do the same to my 86 fox. And love the great dane.
Haha have fun with that dash!

Haha no, the 66 Ford flatbed
I'd be broke down the entire tour with this fox body

Haha, tap into the swear jar
what a horrible looking job. I had flashbacks of taking out dash on an old 79 mustang and the dash literally disintegrating each time I touched it.
It reminded me of taking down an old Christmas tree 😂
AC delete, I would just drive it with the windows down at night. If I need AC, I'll drive my Corolla.
Sometimes not sitting in a pool of ball sweat is the right 10hp sacrifice
