As a lesbian, I won't even pretend as to why I like this season more. All the women, especially Hannah & Dani took my heart and broke it
That last scene when they showed them revert back to their younger versions during the dance scene really made me cry, this just showed me how much I connected with all of them and its funny how characters can be missed. As for Hannah I can't stop thinking about her too, i cried so much. The soundtrack + narration just took everything to the next level.

I was hoping that, somehow, Dani would actually help Viola find true peace. Not just by letting her become a part of Dani, but communing with her, help her remember and accept herself, in order for her soul (and Bly's curse) finally be released. But I get how this outcome made it more tragic with Dani being the "sacrificial lamb."

I am with you on this one. I was drawn to Hannah from the moment I saw her and her story is so heartbreaking because I just found her character so beautiful. The entire story within a story unfolding throughout the season and ending the way it did, with Jamie being the narrator and alone without Dani for so many years, just tore my heart out. Hill House was definitely more of a stereotypical horror. It had great twists and jumpscares, cool easter egg the hidden ghosts and and an alluring mystery that made multiple watches enjoyable, but I agree with you that I prefer Bly Manor between the two.
It's not your typical ghost story, it's a gothic romance, and while the tone shift was a bit jarring, I think it's just what the series needed. I cried more, overall in HH starting as early as Nellie's episode and never really stopping, but in BM everything just feels heavier. While HH handles grief, BM is more about trauma. One thing I've noticed with other reactors/comments on this season is that people who have experienced trauma in their lives seem to resonate with BM more than others. I'm not trying to make a generalization, nor am I saying that you have to experience something bad to understand BM and it's themes, but I remember coming across others who were angry/confused/disappointed in the plot point that Miles and Flora forgot about what happened.
At first it completely took me off guard before I remember that not everyone is familiar with childhood trauma and repressing memories to cope. Honestly, as someone who unfortunately has an entire childhood completely wiped from her memory, I found how they handled it completely realistic and therapeutic. My biggest take away from this season was how different it was from HH, and how it still managed to captivate me without being repetitive or predictable, and if anything that makes me even more excited about season 3 and what they could possible do next. Sorry to go off on a tangent, for anyone still reading, lol.

i watched the finale before going to work and that was a mistake. i cried for an hour straight, i had to redo my makeup and i had a headache the rest of the night. i also woke up and my eyes were swollen so yeah dont recommend that experience

I didn't like episode 8 as much as I missed Theo/Kate. It felt too detached from the rest of the story and I don't get how Jamie or anyone else found out what happened with Viola/Perdita. Dani and Jamie's proposal was the cutest.
