Hello from Australia - I think the tropical print for the shirred dress. So enjoy your vloggs - thank you
Wow hello thank you for your support xxx
Looking forward to the sew alongs! ❤
Gorgeous swirly fabric.
Thank you xxx
Thank you for reviewing the book Christine. I'm vertically challenged as well as a larger lady so I have made a few mistakes in pattern purchases over the years that have proved impossible to alter 😢 so I'm watching your quest with interest. ❤
@@Rosebud-l9p yes it will be interesting to see what the sizing is like xxx
love the video, would like to see the twisted top sewn first.
Hi Christine I like the flowered viscose best for the last project (but maybe I'm biased as I've got a petina blouse made in the same fabric). I look forward to your sew a longs . Do them the same way as you showed them x
Yes it would make a lovely patina blouse xxx
By far the best review I’ve seen as far as inspiration goes! I really want to try some of these patterns myself now. For the shirred dress I think it would look fabulous in the large print. In my mind the smaller print would suit something more fitted, something long and floaty might give it a bit more ‘nighty’ vibes and with all that work it would be a shame. It would make a good single tear shorter version of the other dress with the semi fitted waist. The fabric that you have chosen for the twist top is amazing. I would choose the pattern placement based on what will create the best effect on the twist, if you get that right it will make a huge difference. If you wanted to keep the length shorter adding a faux ‘vest’ piece inside from under the bust could work in a cream or mustard. Thanks for sharing x
Can’t wait to make the twist top thanks for the advice xxx
Just ordered this 😊
Enjoy your vlogs enormously - your enthusiasm is so infectious- happy sewing from Switzerland ❤️
Happy sewing to you too xxx
I vote for the shirred dress in the tropical print. Nice review of the book. I had dismissed it because of the title, thinking it wouldn’t be for intermediate sewists.
I know it’s very misleading isn’t it?xxx
fabric choice for the project= #2 small prints....lovely🥰
Thanks for your input xxx
I fancy giving that shirred dress a go too. I love the larger print.
Ooh we can do it together in my sew along. Xxx
Hi from Mauritius, I choose the small print for the dress. I love your sewing. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day. ❤️❤️❤️❤️😊
Hi from rainy Lancashire. Xxx
Love this idea! I’m going to sew along with you :) ❤
Great stuff have you voted for the first make?xxx
Yes I have bought the book 😊 I think the tropical fabric would be good in the sheered dress .
What do you think of it?xxx
I have just flicked through the pages I thought I would watch the sewing bee first then decide what I should make ...I like your choices of patterns so I will be keeping an eye out for your sewing alongs😊
Yes, I think the smaller print for the shirring dress. I love your blogs, everything seems to make sense when you explain.
Aww pleased you understand what I’m wittering on about🤣
What a fantastic video hun I was wondering whether to get this book 📕 or not & u have just made my mind up for me 😂 it’s my birthday next week so guess what’s going at the top of my birthday list 😂 & love ur choice of fabrics for ur pattern choices ❤ oh & I’m only 5’2” lol 😂 can’t wait to see the finished makes xxx
Thank you and hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Xxx
I think you would just rock the sewing bee 25
I think you mentioned you were looking for petite patterns. If you don't mind pdf patterns, Sinclair patterns are drafted for different heights. The petite patterns are for 5 ft 1 inch to 5 ft 3 inches.
Yes Sinclair are on my list thank you.
Love your vlogs Christine. I got the book and liked the first dress pattern that you chose. Like you said though I think it hangs a bit odd. Will give it a try though as a toile. I also like the shirt pattern.x
Yes I’m going to put a proper waistband in the dress. Looks a bit of a mess as it is tbh x.
Hi Christine I did my first stirring using gingham fabric as you had the lines already there to follow….i used a tammy handmade sew along….it was so simply and easy to follow…take a look…enjoy ❤😊
Great review of the book and some very useful tips, Christine. The weight of the fabric is so important if a garment is to hang properly. And fair play doing the sewalongs! 👍 I’ll be glued to your channel!
I especially love your pink shirt and jewelled twill dress plans. And my preference would be the tropical print for the shirred dress, although the floral fabric is pretty too. Have a good week.
Thanks for your support and input. All sewed out now til I get back from the Med xxx
Hi Christine, Do the include the patterns with the book ? Also I think I have heard you mention that sometimes you have to make a narrow shoulder adjustment, maybe I have got that wrong! I really need to learn how to make this kind of adjustment. Is there any chance that you could do a vlog showing the best way to do this... it would be so appreciated. x
Yes traceable patterns are included and there’s a qr code so you can download the pdfs as well. I’ll be including my method for a narrow shoulder adjustment in my sew alongs xxx
@@The_Gemini_Stitcher Thank's Christine, That would be so helpful. x
To me, basic patterns are patterns that go together with several things you already wear and that you wear all the time. At least that is what I consider my basics in my ready to wear, and they aren't necessarily simple plain articles of clothing that you could make quickly and easily if you chose to do that. I just wear them all the time. I was surprised when several vloggers kept saying that basics are simple and quick to sew, and the patterns in the book weren't basics. I think simple and plain can be basic, but they aren't necessarily basic. Maybe I'm wrong, though.
What I'm trying to say, in less words, is that for many people, a button up shirt and a pair of jeans are basics in their wardrobe, but they certainly wouldn't be for beginners to make and aren't simple or plain.
Great review. I agree it is not quite the right name for the book. Csnt eaitt i see what you make each month.
@@sequingirlie thanks planning my first make this week xxx
