Kwikwetlem Hatchery Announcement Event

A new sockeye hatchery will be built near Coquitlam Dam, more than a century after the Dam's construction severely impacted sockeye salmon in kʷikʷəƛ̓əm​ (Kwikwetlem) First Nation) First Nation's traditional territory. kʷikʷəƛ̓əm​ First Nation is partnering with BC Hydro, Metro Vancouver, and Fisheries and Oceans Canada to create and operate the hatchery.
