Could you say that patron demons and angels love us? Or can grow to love us as one would a family member (parent - child aspect)? I have a pact (union) with Astaroth. And definitely feel loved. Some occultist say they are not our “friends”. But I can’t help but feel that my Patron has become in a way, my spiritual parent and mother. Is this relationship dynamic taboo with demons and/or angels ?

They also choose. They are beings of choice.
Some angels have an automatic love for mankind.
In my experience....when you have a good relationship with entity...they certainly can choose to care for you.

I think I may or may not romanticize the idea of Astaroth but I have definitely asked her to accept me as her child back years ago when I began practicing (I was 17 give it take at the time). I actually have an emotionally unavailable earth mother who lacked in many areas of my life. It was traumatic. But I sought out Astaroth. She was the one healing source of love I received- and still do. Perhaps this is healing of the inner child I may be feeling. In turn I immersed deeper and deeper within her energy. The union is strong. And it reckons my loyalty because again, she has provided love that I remember asking for, tearfully as a young teenager.
I suppose this is case by case. I feel the formality of the Gods. The neutrality of them, but more so than others. Like personalities. My perception of Astaroth is very motherly while entirely all powerful. Firm but calms me(and my personality type). As if she adjusted for my better handling. Again in that gesture, I feel cared for. I wonder if anyone can say they’ve felt loved before by a Deamon.

That's a whole other story....but no, generally speaking. For initial invocation with archangels it is not necessary.....in my experience
