As a total railway system integrator, Hitachi develops and manufactures trains for use all across the globe, including the Japanese bullet train and UK’s Intercity Express Programme (IEP). Theres a lot of social pressure there and it is starting to affect Japan badly such as the loss of job security and insane working hours. Young people are unable to afford homes which has also affected the population growth to dangerous levels. Japan has the oldest population of any developed country. So don't expect Japan to be "homogenous" as it is now for too long.

Well, it probably was originally made for young children who are interested in trains. They made it simple for a simple audience, particularly young boys. That's why there are even cartoon pictures between scenes. This isn't so surprising. Take what you can learn from it. There are certainly other videos for adult audiences about train construction to be found if you look around a little more on the site.
