Thanks for the review and the opportunity for an inside sneak preview. A few months ago I had my finger above the “order” button but I decided not to. Thanks to your review I’m happy with that choice. The white one looks nice indeed!
AHHH that machine is SOO BEAUTIFUL!! Black or White is gorgeous, but damn wish they had a RED machine because my morning self is so bleary-eyed and I like my 'Beverage' machines red to remind me where my favorite liquids come from lol. If no red option, Black will always be my choice ☕
Is this really the end game machine? Looks like it to be fair. I am currently on the fence of getting a BDB but after studying the Meraki one, I mean its a no brainer at this point. Thoughts?
The end game machine is personal preference and budget of course. However, a lot of people swear by the Decent espresso machine as the "End game" machine.
Well, I mean the Meraki includes a grinder, which the BDB doesn't. So it kind of depends on whether or not you already have a decent grinder. Honestly for me, I'd go with the BDB because it's been tried and true, with lots of forum entries on it at this point. Some people complain about Breville service, but I haven't had to deal with it yet, myself. Coffee-wise they both do an excellent job at espresso and milk foam.
I don't think any machine with an integrated grinder should be called "endgame". I use an integrated grinder every day and enjoy it by the way. It also lacks the things like flow control that you would really want if you are at that level. The term isn't very good though to be honest... As the comment above says, your "endgame" machine should be the one you're happy to use every day.
@@fuzziestlumpkin In reality endgame is cafelat robot and milk frother. If you want to cheap option then dreo barista maker if you want to spend a lot more then La Marzocco Wally as for grinder, pick whatever you like the best
@@CJ_1995_ First requirement of end game is that it has to be 100% serviceable and durable. Like La Pavoni Europiccola. You can buy it and expect it to be working in 2050.
The current state of expresso machines is that anything with modern user interface has commercial grade plastic internals which will fail in two years and machines which have commercial grade metal internals up to and including $3000 machines have really primitive IU with a tiny one line display and set-up requiring non-intuitive pushing of two buttons to set all the parameters. In 2022 I bought a $530 GE Cafe Bellissimo which is made for GE by Breville with features of $1000 Breville but with nice UI that runs as an iPhone / iPad app instead of touch panel on the unit. It started leaking after 18 months and died after 2-1/2 years. It is unrepairable - no repair parts or support after one year during which if it fails they just send you a new machine. The Profitec Move $1995 is a nice commercial grade dual boiler fast startup machine with an auto timer but isn’t shipping until next year. Also on my short list is the Accasio Duo at around the same price point but it requires 20A circuit.
Any guess if this can be modded for pressure profiling? I’m curious because it’s a rotary pump and the pre infusion give a 3 or 4 bar option, as if the pressure can be finely adjusted.
You can set a pressure and time duration - I just tried it at 4 bar and 10 seconds, and it does work. But for further profiling, I do not think there is an option yet.
I’ve watched so many of your videos over the holidays. We’ve been spending so much time together I think my husband’s gonna complain 😂 do you ever sell the machines that you review? I’d be very interested in buying used from you. Thank you.
Haha, thanks Megan. Sometimes I sell them or give them away. Most of them I keep for comparisons. You can write me at my website and see if there's something I can do. Cheers!
Reminds me of the old Kitchenaid Artisan dual boiler that Gaggia made..Of course the Artisan didnt have the built in grinder, but the aesthetic is similar..It still makes me wonder why Gaggia still hasn't built upon that dual boiler platform..
Great review as always, but at 1700 to 2000 euro there must be far better machines out there. Like La Spaziale or the new Oracle jet even the Nuova Simonelli, oh well I will have to stick to my cheap machine.
I bought one, likely won't see it until March, we shall see. As far as the "end game" talk, at my age, my end game espresso machine will be the last one I bought. :)
@ having worked in a startup that built a hardware product, I definitely am glad they are sending the various prototypes to experienced reviewers. I am hoping mine has all the bugs worked out before I get mine.
Would have loved to see more of the teardown, including the pump, lines, circuit boards. Are the pressurized heated water pipes corrugated metal pipes or plastic? Looked plastic in that steam wand. And what’s your opinion on the overall build quality? I am disappointed with the lack of organization of the internal wires, cheap plastics everywhere. I had better expectations.
I like their value proposition and design language better than Breville, but how serviceable is this? If the pump were to be broken, it looks like it’s extremely difficult to access

My biggest concerns: - No service center in Denmark where I live - No water filter, so stuck with finding soft water or other means of filtering - Dont know if they will be around in 5+ years
AFAIK they are going to share Timemore service centers, but yes it's a valid concern. I think it takes a long time for a new company to get established worldwide with service centers and everything.
If I am not mistaken (taking out bias of “separate grinder is a must” or “go with brand name”) there is nothing jumping out with this teardown in terms of problematic hardware? All seems like normal hardware which other brands might be using?
What does jump out honestly is that their motherboards are not protected. If the machine gets any water inside (or steam), then the boards could short out.
@@TomsCoffeeCornerthat is an excellent point, I totally agree that it is concerning. Now considering the motherboard is on top, the only way it could get wet is if some valve or line breaks from the boiler, would that be correct? Not saying this is good but for no reason should I expect people to pour water on the top of it, since the water tank is removable I imagine people will remove to fill
Nice teardown, very interesting machine. I like the machine and I really want it to test it but it's to expensive to buy only for give it a try. The white color is beautiful, looks way better than the black one.

That's true, and Rancilio has awesome heritage. But, if you're doing milk drinks, it sucks to switch between espresso and steam temperatures because it takes a while and uses a lot of water to cool back down. That's why people pay extra for dual boilers.
This company manufactured a product with this much plastic for $1500 USD. Remember, guys, these fellas will come into the market and give you something like this and vanish without a trace the next moment. To me, this is rubbish at the price point. Go with established brands. If you have any issues, you will have a service centre or parts available to fix them. The very fact that they have cut corners on little fittings by using plastic instead of steel or aluminium goes to show how much they want to take in as profits instead of giving customers something premium for what they pay for.
Totally disagree. If they were that sort of company they wouldn't have been sending out review units to coffee enthusiasts, doing collabs with the likes of Timemore, etc. Just this week, they have partnered with Origin Coffee in the UK so they support the Coffee Sense feature (nfc config).
