Going through a nostalgia trip watching this. Used to frequent this location as well as San Jose's Brokaw store as a kid. I remember both stores being so busy back in the day with long lines and packed lots. Going to Frys was like going to the mall for a lot of families in the area.
I went here before covid hit in March 2020 but I went here with my brother and my dad and no one went there at fry electronics anymore in 3 year during pandemic and lockdown
Thanks for capturing its last close to normal moment of frys before the pandemic. I went there last week half of it has been closed including the auditorium. I grabbed a card reader and a shopping bag for memorization.
Kinda sad to see. When I was in middle school (around 2015) I used to love coming here to buy games for my Xbox 360. Back then, their game section was absolutely loaded. Now, there’s maybe a handful on the shelf. It’s just sad to see a place I loved going to become a husk of what it used to be.
That's true. Internet shopping can never match the satisfying experience. I tried to buy all the computer components there regardless the price but for sure that won't help.
I think if they want to survive, they'll scale back to the size of their first location and really specialize, but I don't think that's going to happen.
It was NOT their first store ... Their first store was on Lawrence Expressway but next to Highway 101, very small ... Then they moved to the store that you just video at the SPORTS BASEMENT, then they moved to the bigger store .... ...
Sad, i remember working in this location back in 1998, lots of great memories . I remember going to Kitkat strip club across the street on paydays lol .
Sadly, we've all contributed to this by feeding the jungle monster. We all felt so savvy while walking these aisles not long ago with touchscreen device in hand comparing prices. There, we all are responsible for having lost the indoor shopping experience. Good job guys.
Frys is what got me into PC building, still my favorite hobby. I will miss Frys.

I didn’t realize the sports basement on Lawrence was originally a frys location
As a kid I grew up going to this location playing ddr when they had it out. Buying our ps2 for Christmas when it was brand new.... Good memories 😭

Thanks for the update. I usually go to the Campbell store, so I haven't been to Sunnyvale since I took the video. Sadly Campbell is gone now.

I remember shopping at the Lakeside location and Randy Fry was our salesperson. It's sad to see Fry's close!

I have quite a few memories from that store.

How many people were in the store?
There was about 15 adults and 5 kids on a Sat afternoon. About 10 employees that I could see.

Oh crazy I worked as a cashier 1997-1998! Went to Kit Kat once in 2000 post Fry’s. Had a nice lunch buffet there 😂

I did this too. But we will always have the memories of this great box store in its heyday.
