    It amazes me that so many times police end up chasing down a suspect on foot with all the weight of their gear slowing them down. My congratulations on the citizen who assisted them. Good job man, especially considering the risks you may have been taking.

    • @christopherfranklin1881
      @christopherfranklin1881 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      True, they do carry a large amount of gear. And a vest is not lightweight. However, on that note, watch any number of videos of a police action and you will see at least one officer who is 50+ pounds overweight. That is completely unacceptable. I see this all the time with the Washington DC police force. They have way too many overweight officers on the force. They have almost 4000 officers to cover an area of just over 9 square miles. And kudos to the guy who made the decision to help the officer.

      The report says he was in track and field. I've also seen videos of guys who did martial arts and and fighters who intervened and saved people.
      I think if we encouraged more kids to be active, find a sport they like and invest in it, we would increase the ability to have good samaritans. I know it also depends on the character, but usually sports build character as you need dedication and self discipline to excel in it.

      I wouldn't have done it I'm not a cop why should I there was a guy in Little Rock a couple years ago the police was trying to arrest somebody and was struggling in the police looked at the guy said hey man get over here and help me out and the guy said man f*** that s*** that's your job so guess what the guy was arrested for not assisting the police well when the guy was in court he said number one I'm not a cop I'm not trained second ball I'm a convicted felon he's I live in a very bad neighborhood if I had to help that copped out that would have been considered snitching he's in my life is much more important well it didn't matter the judge found him guilty and sent him 30 days in jail he wouldn't f***** up about it at least his reputation was maintained because the police gave him an order and when the police give you an order that's obstruction so it was a mystery to really but he was right as a felon he is not obligated to assist the police that's considered snitching but guess what happened when he got to jail the jail told him I can't believe the judge is sentencing misdemeanors all day long to my jail I'm crowded enough as it is, he told that dude grab your ID and stuff off my desk and get the f*** out of my jail? Now after jayla he can do that release the misdemeanors not the serious felonies my cousin told me man that is the first time I ever heard about somebody being kicked out of jail I said hey man the world is stranger than you think LOL apparently the judge was on a roll sentencing nothing but misdemeanor to jail all day long did she jayla who ran to jail didn't like that s*** because he was crowded plus he was taking in detainees for another county so all those f****** misdemeanors they had to go get the f*** out of my jail blah blah blah

      There was a man who robbed a store so he could pay for his daughter's operation, but the police still arrested him. And sent him to jail, police ain't getting my help either, especially with the history that they have, tainted badge and history of violence and racism.

    Situational awareness, great foot pursuit, no unnecessary brutality in the capture, a good attitude and concern for the suspect as a person! Devin displays most of the attributes of a good policeman. I don't know what Devin's career aspirations are, but I think the department would do well to give him a job interview. I think it is great that Devin got involved, but good Samaritans do need to keep in mind that this isn't the movies. Just because you are in the right and trying to do the right thing, doesn't mean you won't get you a** handed to you when you catch the suspect. There is a high potential for harm, or a law suit, in doing what Devin did. Which makes his actions that much more admirable.
