This is awesome! I absolutely love House. I wasn't aware that Jesse Spencer could play violin, but he and Hugh Laurie are my favorite actors from House. Thanks for posting this. Very cool!
Every time I watch this, I'm just astounded by how lightly Mark Woods plays. His bow just floats across the strings and his fingers just seem to flutter to get the notes.
This video is amazing! Jesse has such a talent! He's awesome! I admire him... and love his reaction at the end "peace, people!" :-D and I love Mark's hair :-)
This is amazing! Never would've thought that Jesse Spencer would be a great violinist. Makes me really miss playing violin, I loved it. I only quit because I hated the school orchestra I was in & we couldn't afford to actually buy a violin. Hopefully I'll get the chance to play again
@Switz1942 Yes! Jesse went for a 5-string which gives him the ability to play in a viola range (it's a viola C string). And it's not hard at all to adapt - you already know the language of 4 strings - think of it as just adding more vocabulary. :-) BTW, Mark's 7-string Viper can sound like a violin, viola, cello, and bass all in one instrument! Thanks for the kind words - I'll make sure Mark reads this!
Yes! It's called Eleanor Rigby and it's Mark Wood's arrangement of this great Beatles tune that appears on his "Favorite Things" CD. You can buy the CD on Mark's website or just the track on iTunes or pretty much any other downloading site.
@musicdudemac The recorded version is on Mark Wood's "These are a Few of My Favorite Things" CD; we are in the process of making sheet music available to the general public but as of right now, we only offer this service to educators who work with our "Electrify Your Strings!" music ed program.
Not a stupid question at all! The NAMM Show is the National Association of Music Merchants and it's like Disneyland for musicians! Instrument manufacturers from all over the world demonstrates products there and TONS of celebrities always show up to check out the latest gear. Jesse spent a lot of time hanging out at the Wood Violins booth and it was so great to get him to play the new Sabre we built for him!
It's held twice a year here in the USA - in January, it's in Anaheim, CA and in July, it's in Nashville, TN. We usually exhibit and perform at the one in Anaheim, though - it's much larger.
Wow!!!! Astounding...I didn't know Jesse could play the violin...awesome...he's very talented...does anyone know what is the tune they played? I love it...:)
@musicperson7265 Yes they do allow visitors but you would have to have an "in" with someone in the music industry who could get you the appropriate pass. :-) HOWEVER, a good deal of the performances occur in the lobby of the Anaheim Convention Center or the Hilton Hotel and those are open to EVERYONE.
That just makes Jesse that much more adorable to me. Because not only was his playing amazingg but he looked so dedicated as he was playing.
Jesse is in another world while playing. Love this version love 'Chase'
Jesse is so talented, I love watching him play, great musician. So sweet too. This is Eleanor Rigby, by the Beatles. Wonderful, so fun.
Jesse Spencer + His Violin + The Beatles = I may just faint. 3 of my favourite things all rolled into one
@restlessxx86 Our pleasure! Jesse is a total sweetheart of a guy and a real talent on the violin. He's VERY humble about it, though! :)

Yeah, but can they play Smooth Criminal on CELLOS!?!?!!?
@Switz1942 You're not crazy! Mark's violin has 7 strings and frets - it's called a Viper and his design is patented.
What is the song he is playing?
@restlessxx86 That would be Eleanor Rigby, the great Beatles song
@Em3ly11 Eleanor Rigby (The Beatles)
@maydhyam Eleanor Rigby :) I played this one at his ROCK orchestra camp :D
Hi all, if you look in youtube for Hugh Laurie's videos you will find out that he plays piano and electric guitar too... amazing. Cheers from spain.
