I love your style and your use of colour and shading technique is fabulous! The subject matter seems to be trapped in a state of despair that makes me feel sad. I would love to see you capture a hopeful smile or glint of joy in the eye of one of your faces....a Mona Lisa smile or even the glee of a cat that ate the canary. You are an inspiration to watch!
Michael.... I sit in complete and utter awe (and a little turned on) when I watch you paint. :) I paint ...or ..I THOUGHT I could paint until I watched you at your art. Respect.
Hi Nick, These initial colors are the Base for different color washes I put over them. I change the value (light or dark) of the base color because this will end up being a darker or lighter area. The shading is done with Paynes grey for starters but will eventually have color layered over it. Putting the different color washes over the colored base gives a huge variety of color variations, try it out its so much fun. Every time I do this I am surprised at the colors that appear, Enjoy...MIX
It's amazing what you make out of a few colors, shades and tints and filbert brushes! I love that.Last time I checked, good big filbert brushes are quite expensive but when I look at the outcome of your work, It's worth the investment afterall :) Keep it up. I'm amazed and inspired.Everytime I watch a video of yours again and again, I learn something new which i didn't notice before. Thanks for sharing and God bless.
Your paintings are brilliant and very inspiring. Your videos encourage me to keep learning and improve on techniques. I'm new to any sort of abstract and find it challenging. You make it look so easy. I've watched most of your videos and hope that one day I will be able to paint with the ease and confidence that you express. Just wonderful! Your dobie is beautiful. I had a black one named Stormy many years ago. Sweet as can be. Thanks for sharing your fabulous talent.
My God I love your work. Others start it but finish it. Working from cool to warm, the shadow and depth, the volume and highlight. The glaze and geometry. Man you kick ass.
Absolutely gorgeous image, consistent style, and recognizable handwriting, dinamic and enspiring execution, enjoyed every second of the video! Lotsa love from Ukraine
gorgeous! i've been drawing faces like you do, but yours are yours and mine are mine. :o) i've been wondering something, kind of shy to ask, but, would you ever consider doing a smaller painting (faces) in 'real time' so that you can show us how you treat your palette and all 3 of your brushes as you paint? also, to give us a clear understanding of exactly how you 'mix'? or is this asking too much of an artist? some peeps may not wish to share too much, but i'd be so grateful if you did!
Hi: I am from Barrie, Ontario Canada I was lucky to find your site, I’m moved by your work very nice, I work in Stain Glass Pottery, working them all together with the airbrush, I also use aluminums cans, I am just turning 60 in May and picking up the brush, I using Open Golden Paints right now, what are your thoughts about Golden Open? I really like what you do Allan
Beautiful work, thank you for sharing them. Could you please tell me what you put on the blank canvas before painting. It looks a little like Gesso on screen, and do you use acrilic paints. Many thanks Linda
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, I love watching you painting your beautyful art, it always fascinates me how you are using both hands at painting !wow! May I ask you if you did train this or was you born with 2 dominant hands?
Absolutely mesmerized watching you paint! I love these paintings! I'm new to painting, but am so inspired watching you. I love your finished pieces! What do you mean by a color wash?
BEAUTIFUL WORK OF ART!! WHAT MEDIUM ARE U USING ? IS IT ACRYLIC? ALS PLEASE TELL ME DO WE NEED TO USE A PRIMER BEFORE STARTING PAINTING ON THE CANVAS SO THAT THE PAINT WOULD ADHERE WELL?
I love those eyes.....its so impressive, I want to take your permission to copy those faces in my artwork, if you allow then only I'll use those in my indian painting..... Some confusion, is that white colour you put like a base colour for face, please if possible I want to understand the whole process, and please guide me, thank you for sharing your amazing works with us.
@@MichaelLangArt thanks for allowing me for this, but would like to send you the Indian look of this, may I have your email address please.... my request is kindly go through with that painting, if you say after that, not for resale then I'll never disobey your words. Please let me show you the Indian look of this particular face style.
@@MichaelLangArt sir another thing to say that I'm not a great artist like you, nor even think, but I seriously want to take inspiration from your work. I believe that no artist can ever copied someone's art, bkz it's really impossible, that's my thought. So I'm eagerly waiting to send you a simple scribble work of mine with those eye's in indian style, looking for your response.
Hi, could someone explain to me how it's possible to blend and shade like that. How do the colours blend when they are dry? When I paint on top of a colour, for example Yellow, and I put a pink or red on top it doesnt become Orange. I just dont understand how this artist makes the colours blend so well. Or is it still wet? Anyway very beautiful welldone!
Buddy Buds Hi Buddy, Arter the base color is dry paint over it with a color that has been mixed with alot of medium. This makes it transparent and the base color shows through it. I show this on my "Painting Techniques " DVD.
+Michael Lang (Mix) U are totally awesome .. i love all ur paintings.. great techniques.. nice flow.. im from germany .. can u tell me what kind of MEDIUM u use? is it like a retarder for acryl? thanks a lot
try using an acrylic medium and mix your pink or red with it but use just a little paint and more medium to create a wash (transparent color) apply it iver the yellow thats dry and you will see the beautiful colors that can be created. Enjoy...MIX
Hi, glad you like! I use acrylic mediums , both matte and gloss. Its like a watery clear paint and when mixed with paint makes a nice transparent wash.Enjoy...MIX
