Focus character be fun for someone to explore that especially in the world of DND can make some pretty good stories. Hell the shadow of war series with the nemesis system just lays that out for everyone.

Well it is D&D but most of the Gazetteer is mainly about players playing humanoids like Orcs, hobgoblins, kobolds etc. It is really cool.
