as someone who danced for 15 years growing up, I'll never understand how they learned full dances that quickly. especially the group numbers, it's hard to get everyone completely in sync over weeks and weeks, much less 3 days

A lot of the parents especially the original ones that were there before the show started were under a contract really hard to leave and even if they did get out of the contract there daughters wouldn’t be allowed to dance competitively until the contract term was over (6 seasons)

Abby Lee loved to be mad at Nia for not pushing through the pain but the problem was Nia had a condition that caused CHRONIC pain. So, no she technically wasn't injured but she wasn't just "sore" either.
Maddie was a perfectionist under a lot of pressure and she almost always won. I think that’s why people said this was the best episode because it was a break from the norm and kinda surprising. People viewed Maddie as a spoiled brat and legit celebrated her failure which is really sad considering she was a literal child.
It wasn’t for money fame fortune well not until Melissa got a wind of the opportunity that her daughter could have. They all danced with Abby since they were 2 well except for Kendall and dance moms was only supposed to be a one episode documentary about the world of dance, Abby wasn’t even supposed to be in it but after they saw a mum of the studio shouting at Abby in episode one the producers saw the show becoming soo much more and that is where dance moms was created. The moms were not paid fairly for a very long time and a lot of it is fabricated drama as the girls never had any issues with certain outside dancers such as Ava as Nia and Ava are still best friends and the mums are really good friends as well
These girls actually would learn more than one routine (group number, solo, and sometimes duets or trios) in a few days and then compete with them. They were next level.
Maddie slipped because she changed her mind, she original went for a diving front walkover but switched mid air to a front Ariel. And she finished her dance but they never showed that.

my niece is more into gymnastics but the one season she took dance classes, whenever i watched a comp i was honestly reacting the same as you lmao i remember one group she went up against had a choreographed fight scene set to a hip hop remix of kung fu fighting. seeing kids, who were 11--14, doing splits and flipping over each others' shoulders was insane! those kids were mad talented

as a dance moms watcher here’s a run down- so the show was supposed to be like toddlers in tiaras but a mum/mom and kid duo from different studios.But then in there auditions for the show the moms/mums were talking abt eachother so they used the moms/mums and kids from one studio.Then they released Abby was crazy after the first episode and added her ⬅️(not too sure abt that but i think one of them has said that) The girls had been in that dance group since the kids were two except Jill and Kendall who joined in season 2. So the rest didn’t know the show was going to be so aggressive. The shows not scripted but the producers would make them to say things in interviews telling them if they didn’t they couldn’t leave they even done it to the kids crazy and they would use what they said in interviews and put it over other things they said while filming so it makes it look like they said something else. Also Leslie the mum that was at the other lady’s (Cathy’s) dance studio she’s crazy she only went to the other studio because she wants her daughter to be on the show. hope this is helpful 😭❤️
Nia has been open about her struggles with chronic pain (i think that might have been what Abby meant when she talked about sore vs injured but Abby also has diminished Nias pain in other episodes so idk) and she actually was in a wheelchair i believe for a year and was only back dancing one year before dance moms! She’s so hardworking and talented and she deserved so much better than the treatment she got.
Originally its was supposed to be like a 6 episode thing so they didn’t really know what they were getting their kids into. Abby was their dance teacher and wasn’t this horrible persona. The show took off though and a lot changed and they ended up being locked into like a 4 season contract so they couldn’t just leave even though things got really abusive, without huge legal and financial ramifications
You should watch season 2 episode 26 (Nationals 90210)! Season 2 is the best season probably, it's before things started to go really downhill and the moms who came onto the show were really just doing it for the fame. The reunion was interesting but probably wouldn't mean much if you hadn't seen most of the show (and it had more than just Jojo and another girl, they had Kendall, Brooke, Chloe, Paige, Kalani from season 4 on and then Jojo)
in defense of abby joking about the fall with maddie, the show cut the fall to make it look worse. In reality, maddie fell and got up and continued and finished the routine.

so christi, kelly, holly and melissa and their kids were there a long time before the show (and kelly was one of abbys students before she grew up and had kids). Also the show was originally not supposed to focus on abby or the moms (it was supposed to be similar to todlers and tiaras) but when they began filming they realised that they had this dynamic that was very dramatic and entertaining. Also the 'pyramid' was created by the production team however its probably likely that abby would already have a ranking of the girls just that she wouldnt literally print it out and show them all.
Loved your video and reactions, 😂. So glad you decided to watch an episode. Dance Moms is my guilty pleasure. I love watching these talented kids. Like some have mentioned, the moms and girls were stuck in a horrible contract. But what I didn’t see mentioned was that before the show the girls didn’t regularly deal with Abby. Of course they knew her but they were mainly taught by her employees. So this was new for all of them, having to be around her constantly and the moms seeing the way she taught them. And then they were stuck until either lawyers or incidents got some of them off the show. You should watch the episodes with the incidents that led to them leaving. But it is a progression. There are recaps online if you don’t want to watch them all, lol.
You should definitely continue with these reactions,I understand that the child abuse makes it difficult to watch so you could also start watching the show from season 6 where the girls are a little older and don't let themselves be intimidated as much anymore by Abby

The shows not scripted but the producers would make them to say things in interviews telling them if they didn’t they couldn’t leave they even done it to the kids crazy and they would use what they said in interviews and put it over other things they said while filming so it makes it look like they said something else. Also Leslie the mum that was at the other lady’s (Cathy’s) dance studio she’s crazy she only went to the other studio because she wants her daughter to be on the show. hope this is helpful 😭❤️

Nia has been open about her struggles with chronic pain (i think that might have been what Abby meant when she talked about sore vs injured but Abby also has diminished Nias pain in other episodes so idk) and she actually was in a wheelchair i believe for a year and was only back dancing one year before dance moms! She’s so hardworking and talented and she deserved so much better than the treatment she got.

Originally its was supposed to be like a 6 episode thing so they didn’t really know what they were getting their kids into. Abby was their dance teacher and wasn’t this horrible persona. The show took off though and a lot changed and they ended up being locked into like a 4 season contract so they couldn’t just leave even though things got really abusive, without huge legal and financial ramifications
You should watch season 2 episode 26 (Nationals 90210)! Season 2 is the best season probably, it's before things started to go really downhill and the moms who came onto the show were really just doing it for the fame. The reunion was interesting but probably wouldn't mean much if you hadn't seen most of the show (and it had more than just Jojo and another girl, they had Kendall, Brooke, Chloe, Paige, Kalani from season 4 on and then Jojo)

so christi, kelly, holly and melissa and their kids were there a long time before the show (and kelly was one of abbys students before she grew up and had kids). Also the show was originally not supposed to focus on abby or the moms (it was supposed to be similar to todlers and tiaras) but when they began filming they realised that they had this dynamic that was very dramatic and entertaining. Also the 'pyramid' was created by the production team however its probably likely that abby would already have a ranking of the girls just that she wouldnt literally print it out and show them all.

Loved your video and reactions, 😂. So glad you decided to watch an episode. Dance Moms is my guilty pleasure. I love watching these talented kids. Like some have mentioned, the moms and girls were stuck in a horrible contract. But what I didn’t see mentioned was that before the show the girls didn’t regularly deal with Abby. Of course they knew her but they were mainly taught by her employees. So this was new for all of them, having to be around her constantly and the moms seeing the way she taught them. And then they were stuck until either lawyers or incidents got some of them off the show. You should watch the episodes with the incidents that led to them leaving. But it is a progression. There are recaps online if you don’t want to watch them all, lol.

You should definitely continue with these reactions,I understand that the child abuse makes it difficult to watch so you could also start watching the show from season 6 where the girls are a little older and don't let themselves be intimidated as much anymore by Abby
