Thank you for this video. I live by this area and when I looked online Hyland hills seemed to only be a terrain park with NO actual just normal runs. My dad wants to go skiing and he is in his 70s and we haven't skied in over 10 years. So now that I know this has a lot of beginner areas, I think this will be a perfect place to go for our first time.

That's great, and thank you for the great story/feedback! That is why we started this series - to help people discover new places and encourage first-timers to check out some of their local hills. Enjoy it out there!

Love these videos on each Midwest Resort. I've watched them all so far. My apologies if I missed it on any of them, but I would recommend mentioning what all passes each resort is available on (Indy, Epic... erc) in addition to just individual lift ticket info. Thanks for all the work you do. Love following this channel.

Glad you enjoy them - plenty more upcoming! I can add a quick mention of pass membership as well.

Not sure if they still do it, but French Cliff stands out in my memory as one of the most unique little runs I've skied. They groomed it in a way that there was almost a coping at the top so you could skate over from the lift to get speed, then launch off the lip and get some air to start off the run fast!

I’m going out to HylandHills next Tuesday just got some new skies first time out in a year 2024 wasn’t great.
Trying to decide could you spend all day or 3p-9p? How much time do you need at HylandHills? It’s my day off so I may spend all day? I have been watching POVs last few days.
Were does shuttle pick you up?

The shuttle picks you up just down the road (maps.app.goo.gl/Y9xpM9r6pj1HHEpq9)
It's hard to say-it really depends if you really enjoy the park. If you're a park rat, you could easily spend a solid day there, but if not, I would say a few hours is more than enough. Just a heads up that 3 to 9 will get crowded with kids leaving school, especially in the park. If you want a quieter atmosphere, I'd go mid-morning.

Weekend morning runs might be a bit crowded sometimes too. That's when they have group lessons, I know cause I'm in one of them haha. Didn't even know about the north side runs and I'll have to check those out

Another thing you didn’t really cover is that the north side is basically un-skiable on most weeknights due to race practice

When race practice gets over around 6:00 it’s super bumpy but not terrible

    "Beginner lift"
My buddies first time on a lift was that middle quad and when he got off he twisted his knee so bad they had to bring him to medical.
Its a good beginner lift tho, hes just a little uncoordinated.
