- In this video, we'll learn a quick & easy technique for creating a simple two-tone camouflage scheme for your 1/35 scale model Sherman tank kits. Allied tankers in all theaters of war often took it upon themselves to add a little extra camouflage to their vehicles using whatever paint they could find lying around. The iconic "Fury" Sherman from the 2014 film of the same name is adorned with one of these field-applied camo schemes. Whether you're a beginner builder or a seasoned veteran scale modeler, this video will help you improve your model tank builds with this straight-forward technique.

Looks great! I'll definitely consider that for my M4A3E8. However, I gotta tell you man, that texture is way too much. That might pass on soviet tanks, but what Tamiya already puts on there should be good for American vehicles. If you're not satisfied with what they've got, I recommend sanding down your texture with some gentle sandpaper.
Cheers Hank - love the toothpick regards Liam
Funny or phony how fury has become the go to ala SPR film for tank enthusiasms!😳

Love your videos! Isn’t stowage easier to paint before you add it to the model???
Thanks! I prefer to paint my stowage on the tank, but that's just my preference!
Paint job is great.. But that texture surely is too thick.. Even soviet tank dont pass that actually if you have ever went to museum and seen one...
Hi Hank
Nice work mate, short but sweet!
Thanks for sharing your techniques once again ❤😊
Thank you for watching!
Nice one!
Thank you! 👍
Outstanding work my friend. Thank you as always for sharing.
Much appreciated! Thanks for your support!
Another great paint job, I'll have to try that out on my sermon
Thanks! Hope you enjoy 👍
There is a FURY kit by italerie quite detailed
You don't think that hair spray fluid isn't going to ruin the airbrush?
Nah, it’s fine. Anything water or alcohol based that you flush through after will take care of it. They make special chipping fluids that are essentially the same thing.
Nope! I've been doing it for years - just be sure to run a little water & airbrush cleaner or thinner through it before the hairspray dries and you'll be golden 👍
Newbie here. Why not spray straight from the hairspray can onto the model?
Our paint never wore off in the Army , chiped but never wore off
You served during WWII?
Hey Hank, how’s it going bud? I’m just curious why do you decant the hairspray into the air brush as opposed to spraying it directly from the can? Is it just to be more precise with your spraying or possibly to get rid of the solvent that might affect your paint or what, I’m just curious? Thanks I enjoy your videos as always Sir! Carry-on!
Hey there! Yeah I've tried spraying right from the can, but the nozzle on there isn't designed for precision (it's more of a cloud-producing mess) 😅 going through the airbrush prevents any overspraying & clumping in any one area 👍
In North Africa and Italy Americans used mud stripes on armor and half-tracks. Black isn't the only option.
You're right! This sceme is supposed to be a late-war ETO pattern 👍
Hi Hank, Sweet. Im just getting into hairspray chipping, trying it out on the Tamiya (new) Spitfire.
Awesome! Enjoy - sounds like a fun build 👍
Really liked the cast textures you added as well, or is that part of the model right out of the box?
Tamiya models of cast features usually have some detail already there but with this specific model he added more. It’s made with acrylic anti-slip paste and he has an entire video on it if you want to check it out in more detail.
Nice video! Surprised to see you use hairspray to seal coat your tank.
Thanks! It's not actually a seal coat - it just acts as a chipping medium. After all the stowage is painted up, then I'll apply a clear coat 👍
