  • Do you think you can actually teach people how to trade? Corvin Codirla, ex hedge fund manager comments. Corvin as an ex fund manager do you have a good track record? Why did you leave the hedge fund industry? Working in a hedge fund you could potentially earn millions - so why did you go into education?
Yes and no. Yes, you can teach the fundamental principles and if you stick to it, it works out. No because its like teaching people how to setup a business - basic business principles like finding a product people want, the best place in terms of traffic - if its so simple why doesn't everyone setup business and make money? No, because there are kind of intricacies and its the same with trading. You can teach people the mechanics but at any point in time your emotions and mis-judgements come in. A lot of people who fail the first time don't get back up.

Some professionals are not contented with their career but like to do trading and investment, as an alternative means of finding an alternative career. Investment career is not like a professional living within small circles. The reward from investing can be negative or positive, depending on a lot of factors. Once the experience and confidence is built up, one becomes wiser and the reward is becoming more stable. Some give up their professional careers and become full-time investors. Their life become better as they don't need to rely on others to executive orders in the business. Everything is under their own control on the keyboard.

"They [mutual funds] more or less find security in number to kind of overcome that issue of having to manage other people's money."
Here, that's the precise reason why trading seems so complicated from an exterior perspective. If it doesn't look complicated, no one is going to lend you his money.

When he said he made 73%, does he mean 73% total over all the year or does he mean 73% per year?

    73% between Aug 2010 to December 2015 is about 15% a year?
    Is this good return?
