The fact that Jacob if romanced in me2 literally in me3 goes on to cheat on you, gets a girl knocked up, tries to cheat on her with you, gaslights you into helping him take care of his kid he will soon have with previous said girl, if not blames you for his cheating due to daddy issues...only person in the full series that cheats on shepard and probably the least likeable squad mate in the full series.
Dunno whether to admire the sheer stupidity and balls on him to do it or send him straight to the collector gas chamber 😂

I think the “Asari are attractive to everyone” thing isn’t to imply how they actually have different traits based on who is looking. It’s that each race focuses on the traits that look most similar to them, maybe that’s a subtle biotic influence, maybe not.

    • @ShadeUnderTheSoul
      @ShadeUnderTheSoul ปีที่แล้ว +77

My thoughts exactly. The human is focusing on the face and general frame. The salarian is probably focusing on the scales and the lustre of her skin. The turian clearly states that turian males focus on the head crest/frills.

    • @efxnews4776
      @efxnews4776 ปีที่แล้ว +12

@@ShadeUnderTheSoul i don't know, to me this is one of the things that really makes sense... asari are essentially all telepathic, i imagine that function like hypnosis, where in the very first encounter the asari would burn an image of them in your brain to perceive them as more like your own species, i don't actually think they look way too alien, they are probably humanoid as most of the other species in the game... another point that folks don't realize is that even if the asari looks like exactly they are in the game, this still doesn't change the fact that their species is parasitic...
Think about for a second, what DNA of a asari partner the asari baby receive? NONE, the asari basically take other species out of the "game of reproduction" in exchange for some mildly cultomization of the asari baby psych, wich means that the "father" species no only would ended up with a baby that doesn't even look like you, but also with a partner that will outlive you 10x, in other words, one more asari children, one less HUMAN children.
couple this species behaviour with the ideia that asari may not look like how they look like, and you have a a damn fine lovecraftian nightmare fuel...

There are a few in game comments that describe Liara's appearance that dispute this theory.

I actually remembered exactly a few minutes after I posted before.
In the citadel DLC in ME3, Garrus and Tali talk about on how Humans and Asari are able to walk without falling over because of their leg differences.
This shows that both Turians and Quarians perceive humans and asari as having the same physical characteristics.
Thereby disproving the 'asari manipulated perspective' theory.
I also find this to be a better proof than just the statues, as they could also be some form of mind control in a fictional sci-fi universe.

Samara's list of items in the SB Dossier arent recent purchases, they are all the items she bequeathed when she became a Justicar. She says herself several times that an Asari must sacrifice everything they own and cut all ties to be a Justicar. If anything, it gives the player a view into her life prior to Mornith going rogue. She had a large home, hobbies, a bondmate who likely passed away, and most importantly loved being a mother.

If you go between levels on the Citadel with Tali and Garrus in your party, Garrus will prod her on if she misses their talks from the elevators, with Tali getting more and more annoyed, to the point where she punctuates her statements with "i have a shotgun...", making Garrus finally drop the issue.
Also, during Mirandas loyalty mission, right before the final battle, Miranda will become anxious about a possible betrayal, and will jolt the elevator controls with the comment "Damnit! Why can't this thing go any faster!"

The Asari theory about different species perceiving them differently is thoroughly debunked in the ME3 DLC.
When the crew is making fun of Shepards bad dancing at the party, Tali and Garrus talk about how humans and asari are able to walk without fallong over. They both see that humans and asari don't have the same leg structure as Quarians and Turians.
This proves that Quarians and Turians both see Asari and Humans as morphologically similar in their legs, and different from how their own legs work.
I find this to be more compelling disproof of the theory than the statues, because in a magical sci-fi universe, the the statues could have been doing the same thing.

The one time i heard about ME was when Andromeda came out and a streamer i watched talked about it being horrible briefly (which at the time i thought was nothing special for EA). I discovered ME recently by getting the $1 xbox game pass to try out some games, and thought it was just a "chill space game" with a WoW vibe, where you play through a simple story as the dude on the cover, with some throw-away sci-fi lore in it. Needless to say i was very suprised in counless ways, and spent the entire month only on ME. They are not only the best three games i've ever played and probably ever will, it wouldn't even go in the same tier list with other games (apart from Dragon Age of course). For the last 5 months, all i do is consume ME and DA content, even to the point of playing games that the ME voice actors are in, and i even got all the books and comics. The game that immersed me and moved me the most before this was CP2077, and now i think it doesn't even come close to ME. And i never understood why people said CP isn't an RPG, but now i know it's because i never played a real RPG before.

They weren't sure what direction the series would go, so they basically added a flag to anything they thought they could use later. Which is why Conrad Verner in Mass Effect 3 has that subplot where if you did a bunch of things like find the Matriarch writings and have the write arms license you can get a tiny boost to the Crucible project. For the appearance of Asaris, you can also look at Banshees in ME3. They are already modified by reapers and no longer possess the ability to manipulate other species' thoughts, their true faces look like human skulls. If they look like something else, then the Banshees will look way different.

I have one nitpick: Samara’s entry isn’t stuff she has, it’s a list of the worldly possessions she gave up when she became a justicar. Morinth was only 40 when she ran away, which is like adolescence as far as asari are concerned, she was happily settled in to the home she planned to live out her life on, indicated by the lifetime gym membership (that’s centuries!!!). It’s not weird that she still has children’s clothes, either at the bottom of dressers or stored away somewhere as keepsakes.
The full entry: “Possessions bequeathed by Justicar Samara:
    Large Goods:
    - Four-bedroom home on Thessia
    - Furniture and household appliances
    - Elkoss Sapphire family skycar
    Clothing and Jewelry:
    - Casual clothing (approx. 20 outfits)
    - Intimate negligees (3)
    - Dancing dresses (4)
    - Bond ceremony gown
    - Bond ceremony bracelet
    - Holo-locket (images of bondmate, children -- reprogrammable)
    - Baby and children clothing (various)
    Miscellaneous:
    - Lifetime Serrice Fitness membership pass
    - First-place trophy (amateur skyball league)
    - Vid and novel library (various)
    - Photo albums (various)
    - Sculpture of Samara and bondmate
    - Personalized "Happy Birthday Mom" travel mug with photo of Samara and children (handle cracked and repaired, some glue marks visible)
    - Memorial sphere (bondmate)
    - Birthing creche”

Looking at it, Dark Energy wasn't really foreshadowed that much in ME2, let alone ME1, and it raises some obvious questions like "If using Mass Effect fields are so bad, why not destroy the Mass Relays? Or remain as overseers of the Galaxy just preventing any civilization for utilizing Mass Effect fields? It's obviously impossible to know how it would've been recieved for sure, but I suspect it would've been criticized as pretty contrived, and I don't see how it would make your choices throughout the trilogy feel any more meaningful than the ending we got did.
