+Deep Digger Dan Yeah no kidding... lol. Years ago, I did an art show up in Great Falls Montana.. where Western Artist Charley Russell lived... A guest of mine, Alfred Hitchcock's daughter, Patricia O'Connell, and I went on a tour of Russell's home, there... and I remember her saying, if the walls could talk.
I was remembering that when I saw those coins.. Good for you.

Anything that is metal Dan will start to corrode immediately the very second that oxygen/air meets the surface, I'd keep some sort of vessel with olive oil in it, have a quick look at your find and drop it in the oil until later, crap for videos but it will save your find. Regards, Rob.

To all Dan's Subscribers. I'm sure there are many that, like myself was not aware of Dan's Patreon account (there's a link in the description). I know there are many that won't be able to contribute, but many that can. He currently only has 15 patrons, with 200,000+ subscribers that get great quality entertainment from his videos, surely we can do better than this. We're all looking forward to his walk around England series and this is where he is raising funds for this trip. Please lets help Dan reach his goal. Sorry for the long post, but I feel very strong about this, and I hope you don't mind Dan. Thanks.

+Deep Digger Dan, Not sure how many will actually read my comment, wish I could send them all a message. Hopefully you will pick up some more patrons. If I were rich, I'd fund your whole trip myself, but unfortunately I'm just a regular working stiff. I know your busy, but my son wanted me to ask you when you might be posting another Deep fried Dan video. He loves those. Thanks.

That bell has oxidized that's why it was in worse shape. You should put these metals into a wet tissue until you gave it to the museums for further restorations.

Well done. Great finds and good video. I should be so lucky! Still, last Monday, sat it the doctor's surgery with the dreaded winter lurgy, feeling very down-in-the-mouth, I got talking to the guy sat next to me who tells me he has a 60 acre farm in the nearby Pendle Hill/Blacko Tower area! In like Flint - "Has it ever been detected?", "No", "Any chance of giving me permission, split any spoils 50/50?", "Sure, why not, come and go as you please". Was nearly skipping out of that surgery. Got up there for an hour today in a nice bit of sun, amongst horses and rabbits, after a long break. Just got to find any good stuff now instead of many horseshoes (the biggest collection in the NW) and my first hammered. Am 70 next but great this hobby, Ain't it?

I'm no expert, but the really clean roman coin looks like Trajan, not Hadrian. Hadrian wore a beard, while his predecessor Trajan did not. Moreover not only does it look like Trajan, but the coin appears to read IMP TRAIANO (Trajan) AVG GER DAC P M TR P. It wouldn't be too surprising that it was found near Hadrians wall, since the coins of Hadrian's predecessor would probably still be in circulation.

I'm sure you'll be aware Dan, but just in case...on suspected Roman sites watch out for folded lead...They used to engrave wish-lists to the gods (eg curses for he who stole my brolly on the tram) on lead sheet, fold it up and leave it at a sacred site...they're commonly known as curse tablets
Thanks as ever for the video, and all the best to you and yours

Looks like a clover on the bell, could it be Irish ? The letter is likely from an old printing set. Old way of doing inked typed letters. The cannon is too small to be used as a signal cannon, that are much smaller than real cannons. However this is to small to be a working model, likely just a toy, but an old toy. Great finds DDD, those Roman silver are amazing !! The item at 24:32 is likely an Axe head still in its leather sheath.
Keep @ it and HH !!

The Royal Artillary cap badge had a Kings Crown, the strange cone could be the nose cap of a shell. Combine this with the piece of shrapnel and the cartridge case and the field could have been an anti-aircraft site from WW2.

The bell looks different because it dried out, I bet if you oiled it then it would look like it did when it was wet. The toy cannon is probably just a toy, I have a few of them I bought from old battlefield museums in the novelty shops, mine have fuse holes and we shoot stuff out of them using firecrackers but I don't think they are meant to be fired.

Dan, Could you perform some experiments? Can you find more target when
the ground is wet or when the ground is dry? Will there be a

Could you imagine loosing a silver coin nearly 2000 years ago. That would be like loosing a couple hundred dollars today. Bet that guy was kicking himself.
