This video skip a lot of Dominican history that is crucial to todays standard of the island. 1809 Dominicans revolt against French rule becoming the first independent movement of Santo Domingo going back to Spanish rule. 1821 Dominicans declare independence from Spain as Spanish Haiti, however shortly after in 1822 Haiti invades Santo Domingo for 22 years of force labor, prohibiting the Spanish language, closing universities, churches, and group gathering among Dominican population. 1844 Dominicans declare independence from their oppressors the Haitians in many battles until 1855 when Haiti send their last troops and got defeated. 1861 Santana and his cronies declare Santo Domingo a Spanish colony again against the will of the Dominican people living fighting battles in the island until 1865 when the last Spanish troops leave Santo Domingo and concluding the previews constitution of the Dominican Republic since 1844.
