I feel like SMB1.0 shouldnt be the solution since its very weak on the security side of things...

Unfortunately there is no other options for older Nas drives but then should be OK on a Local Network with only trustworthy clients.

I did this maneuver when I migrated from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and this trick worked! When I migrated from Windows 10 to 11, this trick doesn't work anymore (as all the SMB 1.0 boxes have already been checked and I've tried unchecking and checking those boxes and rebooting my machine multiple times) and I still can't access my NAS drives!

This might be a little unrelated but I watched this when I was trying to resolve a Windows 11 problem.
I had a problem with Windows 11 and an external Synology NAS drive and nothing seemed to allow it to be used by Windows 11 although it could see it, permissions were being rejected. I set up the sharing options and made sure the networks were private but it still didn’t work. I knew the NAS settings were good as all other devices found it and accessed it, it was a Windows 11 problem.
I saw on a QNAP forum they had a similar problem which was resolved by logging into Windows with a password and NOT the PIN. I did the same and everything was visible, connected and mounted correctly.
There is a problem with Windows 11 when using the PIN security, don’t use it if you need to share things like NAS drives. It’s a ridiculously easy solution to a problem that should not exist. I hope it helps.
