Yes, I agree that the most important thing is the player. But why not buy something better? The player in this video is good but that doesnt change the fact that this bass doesnt sound very good.
@@p90Killah Bro, it has character. Very old-school. Short scales allow for some really cool tones. I bought this bass and it is totally upping my thumb game, because it can bring in so much tonal nuance, even though it is a shit pickup. The bass is cheap, but it has real virtue as an instrument.
What people don't realise is these basses are actually made by Cort in Indonesia, who are famous for manufacturing some iconic guitars (Squier Vintage Modified, Yamaha Pacifica, etc.). It's no surprise that this plays and sounds great!
I always played guitar until we had a difficult time finding a bass player, so I got one of these in 1999, and I still play that thing. I've opened for Dropkick Murphys, D.O.A, MDC, The Flatliners, Guttermouth, Agent Orange, and tons of other great bands through my years and a Bronco is always along for the ride.
This just goes to show; its not the price of the instrument, It's the hands playing the instrument! Awesome bass playing! I play a Squire Bronco bass. I have 20 basses in my 'harem', Some of my cheapest basses are my favs. I modified my Squire Bronco by putting a custom made pick guard and a chrome pick up cover, and Fender Clover or spade shaped tuning heads. The rest is all origial. I love the sound from the 1 pickup, and the tone and volume controls really fit my needs. The maple neck is second nature, you don't even think about it. A really great deal, for a really cool bass.
I bought one for 120$ and it's my main gigging instrument after about 30$ in spare parts, some love, and a refinish. Truly it can be an amazing instrument if you're willing to put the effort in.
These are actually pretty good little Basses. I have a ‘78 made in USA Musicmaster and one of these. The tones are more versatile from the Squier Bronco, but the old Musicmaster feels a little more solid and holds tune better.
Ive watched your videos before purchasing myself one squier bronco bass (in red) and..NO REGRETS. I've converted from standard scale to shortscale, better handling, fun to play. Easy to maneuver, space saving bass..!
very informative video, excellent playing too, is that strat style knobs original or replased ? i bought a bronco and dont want to modify but these knobs make me think otherwise.....
nice bass & nice play! I want this bass so bad, but it's hard to find in Taiwan:-( By the way, did you change the body color? (it just list 2 color on the fender website, black&red )
How much did that cost you in yen? Very nice playing. Yoku yatta ne! (I speak Japanese, but the computer I'm using right now does not have a Japanese keyboard. Zannen desu. Greetings from Puerto Rico.
The nut needed SO MUCH cutting-back. If you want to learn how to set up a bass, this is a great place to practice - because depending upon what end of the quality control you find yourself, it might be quite hard for ya.
Amazing playing! Please can you tell me anything more about this guitar? The specific colour or the serial number perhaps? I've been looking everywhere for one!
The E string on my Bronco sounds a little loose. I'm wondering how he got that non flabby tone? Has this Bronco been modified in any way? And yes, his playing sounds great.
I don’t know what they string these with stock, but when I got my squier vintage modified jaguar guitar it came with 10s and it sounded super buzzy and flabby until I set it up with some 11s. Now it sounds and feels great.
this bronco, I used D'Addario EXL165 string for 34 inch long scale. As it is not for 30 inches, it is a little loose, but there is no particular problem.
I usually play long scale basses, but the bronco bass make me feel happy. It is an inexpensive, cute, good sounding and fun bass. Please get a bronco bass!!!
I do not usually play the short scale. There is no particular problem as a bass instrument as long as you can practice and master the difference in scale.
K- HENRY i have this bass in my studio and I use daddario short scale strings for it I am a guitarist so the short scale bass was a no brainer it's an easy transition
Adrián González this is the video that made me buy this bass for my studio I have used it a lot on tracks it's a nice little bass I was going to buy a P bass cause that is my fav bass sound ever but I got this and it was a heap less money
I’m really disappointed at how good the Bronco sounds. I was looking for a doinky instrument with no sustain. My Gibson SG Custom was purchased to get a thud tone, but it sounds too good as well. Pisses me off that the cheapo basses in my collection can compete with my American Standard Jazz, P’s, & Ric.
Yup, today's budget stuff is pretty good compared to the 70's when I started. But your high end basses will be more durable if you play out (not that I do)and bang them around a lot. The cheapies use so-so tuner and bridge materials.
i got one and it has a bad electical buzz unless its tilted up...tried with different cords and amps...in different rooms..still the same...should i return? did you have any issues with hum/buzz?
This proves my point...spend all the money you want on a bass...all that really matters is the fingers holding on to it...well done!!

The E string on my Bronco sounds a little loose. I'm wondering how he got that non flabby tone? Has this Bronco been modified in any way? And yes, his playing sounds great.
Jeffrey Powell might need to go up a string gauge to compensate for the shorter scale length which causes strings to have less tension.

Nice sound. It's all in the amp! I wonder what kind of gear you used. You can't get that kind of sound out of a cheap Fender Frontman, I don't think.
Thanks!
It is a line recording that is only slightly corrected by the equalizer.
what color would you call that? i wanna paint my bass the same color !
Is this bass better than squier mini pbass?
The Squier Mini Pbass has a 28.6" scale and the Bronco bass has a 30" scale. They are not comparable.
I got one of these, and I can't figure out why I can't slap and pop it.
Bronco bass is not difficult to slap, so please do your best.(*^▽^*)
Does the Bronco Bass require special strings since its freatboard is shorter than the usual?
If possible, a base string for 30 inch short scale is desirable, but 34 inch strings are okay if it can be wrapped around a peg post.
Thanks man, re-visiting the video I have to say, tight playing!

Sometimes with the squiers they will cut some colors after a while if they don't sell that many to cut costs.
Im kinda curious about this bass. Is it any good? Just good for beginners or ”good-good”?
It's cheap. Easy to handle for beginners and children on a short scale. Of course it can also be used for advanced users.

It is not particularly heavy.
