Gavin your a genius and fairplay to Sams DIY . Im sure Chloe was glad you didnt throw her into the freezer for this shoot ! stunning results. The candle works great to add that little warmth to emphasis the cold ! Fairplay all involved ! I wish you all a very happy christmas. best regards Pat.
Man, I luv your tut's Gavin....so creative....I would mostly declare I would NEVER pay to do a workshop, but, if you offered those I would. You break everything down so simply without a bunch of unnecessary chatter.
Love how you break things down so simply and it makes me realize how a stepwise approach to my portraiture will help me to learn and improve. Thank you again Gavin and, of course, Chloe.
Videos like this & all your other videos are precisely why you have so many subscribers(myself included) & likes Gavin. Such imagination shown/shared & explained in laymans terms. Thanks for the awesome content as always 👍
Always enjoy and look forward to watching your videos Gavin! Learn something new every time!! Merry Christmas to you and Sam - hope Santa is good to you both!
Wonderful stuff Gavin! Excellent make up Chloe! And well done Sam!! I love how crafty and inventive Sam is with her props and styling. Her work really makes a huge difference to how the final images look!
Another great photo adventure, reminiscent of the "rainy day while you stay dry in the studio shoot!" Very inventive - kudos to Sam and Chloe for set design and makeup. Downloaded your textures plus the bkgds for flower images and signed up for your newsletter; don't know how I overlooked that before. All in all, a significant day in the life of this learning photographer thanks to you. Your videos are always the finest of TH-cam photographers. ⭐x5
I learned the old fashioned way using a Main, a fill, a hair light and a background light. I don't see many people use a background light anymore. While I love using a Big soft box and a V-Flat or another kind of fill the old way still has it's place. Thank you for restoring my faith in the Old School way :-) Great video Gavin.
Great video, very inspiring. I remember a few years ago I did winter photos in my garden on a sunny day with smoke and plenty of flour, but the idea with frosty glass is great. Thanks again.
Once again the legend strikes with a killer tute.. mate this was a blinder and just the inspiration I needed to jolt me out of my creative lull. My thanks sir :)
Thanks for the freebie Gavin!! At first I was kinda critical (to myself, of course) of you doing the color toning in-camera because I didn't see why you wouldn't want to adjust the tones in post to be the way you wanted them. But if you're shooting RAW, you can still do that if you wanted to, plus there's something so satisfying and cool about seeing how much you can actually get exactly the way you want in-camera. Great episode!
Hi Daniel. You're spot on about the RAW re-editing option but I usually find getting it close in camera helps everyone on set visualise the final effect and that is a HUGE help!
Hi Alan. That was all down to Chloe. She's a brilliant model and self taught MUA. Hopefully you'll see more of Chloe (maybe even in person) during 2022!
Hi Christy. I'm using a TetherTools USB-2 cable to connect my Olympus camera to my Lenovo 2 in 1 Laptop. That runs Windows 10 and Olympus Capture takes care of the tethering. All very simple but also super reliable.
Now that Gavin's cold has gone it's time to make some frosty (and timely) shots. I just wonder how inventive Gavin is!
I fell in love with the photo at 8:36
super creative and fun shoot.
It is incredible how much you can teach in a 12-minute video Gavin. 👏
Brilliant statement with Who is the oldest. Not the background but you. That's almost like irony Gavin. Thanks for hasting this brilliant techinique
Gavin, you’re the best, hands down, no close second! I love your work!!!
Thanks for the kind words Bruno 👍
this man deserves billions
Gavin crushes it again!
I love your creativity! Less is more exemplified!👏🏾👍🏾🙏🏾

Thanks Pat. The Candle photo's came out so much better then I thought. I have to give full credit to Sam for that idea 🕯️
Absolutely stunning.
been a minute, glad this came up as recommend. Most of my knowledge in photography is Gavin derived.

Hi Robbie. Totally agree. Even the most simple portrait shoot benefits from a bit of styling, something that's all to often overlooked.
