Why does not it fight them like it fought ISIS ?its a puzzling question ,isn't it ?

Also- I am one of those folks that thought this was a shia/sunni conflict. No?
Where do I find out about "sunni sects that are theologically closer to shia." ?

    • @naayou99
      @naayou99 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@stuartnorton6405 that is not the case. Zaidis do not fully align with the Shia sect. In Yemen, society is not divided strictly along sectarian lines. Personally, I come from a background that blends Sunni (with a Shafi'i father) and Zaidi (from my mother's side).
The issue with Yemen primarily lies in the North, which is in a dire state and wields significant power. Many members of the army and security forces hail from this region and are Zaidi by sect. These regions are also high in illiteracy rates. Maybe the worst in the country. However, this is only part of the broader narrative. The Houthis, who lead, are Hashimites, and there is widespread disdain among Yemenis towards the Houthis for their elitist stance-stemming from their lineage to Muhammad and Ali; they think they have Godly mention to lead. This has spurred a rise in Yemeni nationalism that opposes such attitudes, including among Zaidis themselves.
Yemen's situation is distinctly different from that of Iraq and Lebanon, where Shia communities hold a strong reverence for the Hashimite lineage. The US administration could potentially facilitate the downfall of the Houthis by supporting those dissatisfied with Houthi ideology-and there are many. The bombings have, paradoxically, lent legitimacy to their cause, a fact known to the US administration. This leads me to question: Does Biden truly intend to weaken them, or is he assisting them inadvertently? Thank you for your inquiry. It's important to recognize that mainstream media often seeks to manufacture consent rather than inform, as Chomsky has repeatedly pointed out.

The custom of a people is taken into account when arriving at ruling within the madhab(legal school) the reason they appear so strict and are probably confused with wahhabi's is likely because they implement(often inappropriately when applied to more metropolitan areas) the rulings of the school based on their own rural pashtun customs which in those areas where the Taliban originated is likely not a as much of an issue.

Former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh did not die; he was assassinated by the Houthis in December 2017. Much of the information that Sherine says is incorrect and misleading, through which she seeks to convey an inaccurate picture of Yemen, due to her bias towards the Iranian-backed Houthi group.

This video raises some interesting points about the historical context of 'Arabia Felix.' For anyone curious to learn more about the region's rich past, especially the role of Yemen, I'd recommend checking out resources on ancient Yemeni kingdoms like Saba and Himyar. Great video overall!

Very good discussion! I find it interesting that as far as I know the Saudi's have been accepted to join BRICS but have yet to sign-on, and we know the U.S. is turning themselves inside-out to stop BRICS and its expansion. We see the Saudi's playing a role in Gaza, so behind the scenes BRICS must be an issue.

I'm so glad to have this extensive informative conversation about Yemeni history and it's current geopolitical role involving all the different players. Very little info is given to the American audience. Some of the information has been propaganda. It seems as if the petrodollar is at work. We were hoping Saudi Arabia would be more independent of US influence with their membership in BRICS.

Considering the Houthis are a shia terrorist group, in that they literally terrorise the Sunnis of the surrounding Arab states including at this very moment, it has nothing to do with American allieshio or codependency but recognising that the Houthis are just as dangerous to KSA as the West is. Considering the Houthis actions in Falsteen have only given Bibi an excuse in enacting a second nakba, its debatable about who it's enemies are.
Their choice of funding is also a fsctof: not many are aware of the history of the Shia state of Iran in regards to KSA and inciting the Arab Shia to enact attacks within KSA aawell as other Arab states through suicide bombings. During this time they killed pilgrims in the Holy City. So anything Shia the Saudis aren't touching with a 10 foot pole.
Not to mention the history in Yemen where the Houthis antagonised a civil war in which they attacked, slaughtered and committed war crimes against the Sunnis of Yemen with the help of Iran. A story which describes what besieged Sunni villages were like describes scenes where young boys wud be killed on the spot if their names were asked and they answered with the name of Uthman or Umar (names of companions the Shia revile). I remeber a video of an Iraqi man calling into a talkshow asking for the Shaykh to pray for the Sunnis of Iraq where he described his 3 year old daughter had been burnt alive by the Iraqi Shia.

Very simply put, The Houthis are North Yemeni militia who are affiliated to Iran.
A very small population in North Yemen that support the Houthis..
On the other hand, the South Yemenis will not tolerate the Houthis and have fought off the Houthi aggression.
Finally, the Unification of the 2 Yemens (North & South) has failed miserably.
Failure was pretty much written on the wall when they re-united back in 1990, but people were not aware of this till it was too late.
The solution is to go back to 2 states (North & South) as was the case pre-1990.

The professor was very comprehensively informative… loved that hour
I only have one take., which is that she didn’t mention the tribal role. The Houthis are the descents of the Prophet Mohammed grand sons direct DNA Y lineage
(Just like the kings of Jordan who were the rulers of Mecca until 1930 when they were kicked out by The Saud family and fleed to Jordan)
That ancestral lineage is extremely important and it is impossible to understand the full picture without it
The Saud Family are worried that the Houthis could demand to rule Mecca with very strong historical, religious and tribal backing of their demand

The USSR was not a "socialist" country. They had markets and people worked for wages and sold there labor to capitalists. State capitalism is not socialism. The refusal of "leftists" to make this distinction is why all our revolutions end up recreating hierarchy and misery instead of abolishing it.

There are many fallacies in her talk, she never says anything about the organic relationship between hotties and Iran. She tries to portray them as innocent people who have been pushed back by the arab coalition for nothing. She forgot the fact that they had taken over the whole of Yemen by waging a war towards whole Yemen, likewise, she never said a word about what happened to the Yemeni people and how they changed people's beliefs from Sunni to Shaa by enforcing them to follow the radical sector of shape of Iran by bringing a strange rituals of shaa to them.

If there is one common denominator with respect to chaos and confusion in the countries around the world, it is the US. I cannot think of a single country embraced in some form of turmoil where these meddlers are not active, whether that meddling is overt or covert. The only way there will be any genuine chance for peace in this world the US must be either kept out or their activities be reduced to a minimum. This practice of theirs which they refer to as spreading democracy can best be characterized as creating mayhem, and we have firsthand evidence of this with regard to every country they engage in with their nefarious agendas.

'Saleh switched sides - Yemenis are pragmatic people'
Saleh said: " Ruling Yemen is like dancing on the heads of snakes"
(Saleh came to power after murdering the visionary North Yemen leader Ibrahim al-Hamdi)
An important aspect of Yemeni misery may be extreme overpopulation - a sevenfold increase in population since 1960. Another index of the subordination of Yemeni women, besides high birthrates, could be female literacy rates that are half those of male yemenis

Sister Shireen was not able to explain the importance of Yemen in the history of Islam and its significance. The prophet SAW is known to have said, " I feel the breath of Allah coming from Yemen". The king of Yemen was very open to Islam and moslems. When the prophet sent an envoy to him, the king took the Arab Molslems fleeing from their foes under his protection.
