    This review of V-Storm is perfect 👌
    One thing I like about Japanese designed bikes is the useful features that they consider for the rider, irrespective of the fast pace of bikes released in the market, this one may have a non TFT console, Japanese are intelligent enough not to put unnecessary fancy stuff on it makes the bike to be welcomed by people like us.
    A well weighted review brother 👍💐

    Thank you for your 10,000 km review. I have a 2017 650XT and I agree with your review. Excellent bike! I live in southwest Colorado and have to ride gravel and pavement- this bike does well in both. I plan to add Dunlop Trailmax Mission tire next year (I don't ride much in winter- too much snow and below 0 degrees C at 2301 meters above sea level. Thanks again for your review of his great machine. -Ray, in SW Colorado. (ALSO, loved your use of Beethoven music!)

      Hi Ray! Happy to hear that you too are enjoying the V-Strom and glad that you like my review. We have 365 days riding weather here but from March to May it gets quite hot and I don't ride much. When I come up for the next tyre change then I'll decide the type of tyres cos for the moment I do not see myself doing any off-tarmac riding on the V-Strom. I have a Hero Xpulse 200 and a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 that I have modded a bit for off-roading.
      Wishing you happy & safe motorcycling. Cheers!

    I had a 2004 VStrom 650 several years ago. Prior to that I had the 1000. The 650 was more maneuverable and was really the better bike unless you were riding at higher speeds on our US interstates or carrying a passenger. I’ve had a 2014 VStrom 1000 for over 4 years and 31,000 miles. It’s much improved over the older 1000. The styling is similar to your 650. The newer 1000 has better suspension than the 650, being fully adjustable and the brakes are very good-almost sport bike capable. These are the reasons I didn’t choose the 650. I would add that I’ve done my own oil changes every 3000 miles and it’s very easy and simple. Once your warranty expires, you might consider this and save some money. In the US you aren’t required to have the dealer do the service even under warranty as long as you keep records. Thanks for your excellent review and keep up the good work.

    • @bigbearbangalore
      @bigbearbangalore  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Happy to hear from a long time V-Strom owner and thanks for the information. Here we cannot do our own oil changes here because unlike the USA, it can void the warranty. So, we must go to the dealer and that's ok cos we are used to this anyway.
      Yes, the new 1050 is quite a bike and comes with quite a bit of electronic and adjustable items.
      Best wishes. Cheers!

    Well done review of the Vstrom. I've ridden my '17 model 25,000 miles in 3 years. Not one problem . Lots of joy. You'd be correct about the looks when referring to Gen. 1 Dl 650s but this model has a mature , soothing stature which I enjoy looking at. I sold my troublesome teutonic turd GS 1200 and I've never regretted the switch. Try one. you'll enjoy it.

    Namaskaram from Ireland Bosky. Thanks for the two good reviews, and your 'Extras'. Those lights are stunning, and I like your very fine choices of those essential accessories. I have several of them on my '17 model, and have ridden 6,500 happy miles, mostly on the south west coast, since September '19. Rust is certainly an issue, as your friend pointed out in part 1, and it does warn you in the owners manual, if you ride along the coast, to wash down after. I 'Treated' mine with 'ACF 50', when I did the first big service, and had the tank off etc. Take a close look at the drain pipe from the fuel filler, which you must remove before lifting the tank off ! Best wishes, and safe riding. Pat... Sadhguru fan ;-)

    An almost perfect motorcycle....here are a few suggestions: a better windscreen with one-handed adjustability; longer oil change intervals; adjustable foot pegs; center-stand, engine guard, radiator guard, lower engine rock guard, and Baja lights STANDARD, and I'd pay another $800 for the bike. 90 horsepower from that little engine is too much to ask, but it sure would be sweet.

    Great review! I have a Tiger 800 XR which I absolutely love. Driven to Rajasthan, Ooty, Bangalore, Coorg... but you know what? In city when the radiator fan kicks in, even at 8PM I feel the heat. I took the VStrom 650 for a test ride at 3.30PM and the heat was much less, it wasn't a bother at all. Yes the 6K service is a bit too early but for less engine heat and easier handling in city, I would anyday prefer the VStrom over the Tiger

Also, in part 1, I heard your friend who has done 11k+ kms on his VStorm 650, and a ride to Goa with his wife, may be a joint (quick) review of it would be a good addition to your channel and fans like me. Cheers and thanks for taking time to explain us, ride safe.

      My wife will ride with me on long trips only with the SHAD system in place. Two main reasons, one, she feels secure in that environment with a back support side support and two, her clothes remain uncrumpled in the hard cases unlike in a soft bag. :-)
      Will chat with my friend on your request and get back. Wish you safe and happy motoring. Cheers!

    Hi.. Thanks a lot for no nonsense review. Super helpful. I have booked V Storm Yesterday. I have one query in relation to luggage system. The one offered by Suzuki Showroom which includes plastic top box, support plate and addition support rack is costing 50K ... not sure why they charge so much for plastic case... I was thinking of buying aluminum top box but I am little confused as to go with aluminium top box or plastic top box and also what size should I look? And second query is if I install side panniers then how difficult or easy it is for pillion rider to climb on bike and seat for long rides? Would really appreciate if you can revert with your views... thanks in advance

    • @bigbearbangalore
      @bigbearbangalore  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thanks. Congrats on the booking. You have made a good choice.
      The top case price including the mount and plate is reasonable. You can consider it.
      I feel that the V-Strom looks better with rounded cases rather than the squarish aluminium ones. Although this is a personal choice. Either way go with the smallest and lightest possible top case and ensure that it is lightly loaded, preferably used only for storing helmets and other stuff when off the bike. I do not recommend using the top case for loading luggage. A heavy top case can cause handling problems.
      Side panniers do not cause much inconvenience to pillions. They look intrusive but they are not.
      You can consider going with the Suzuki cases or Hepco or SW Motech or Givi. All are equally good.
      Best wishes!

      @@bigbearbangalore thanks for the revert. I am visiting Bike N Biker today a showroom in Bangalore to look at top box options will keep your suggestion in mind. As far as loading is concerned I was thinking of using top box for putting probably 2 to 3 light track pants and 2 - 3 t shirts along with camera and accessories… considering the volume of the box is say 35 to 40 lit won’t the stuff keeps moving inside as one rides?

    • @bigbearbangalore
      @bigbearbangalore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’ll have a good choice at cases at BnB. And once again consider the Suzuki case because it likely comes with an added brace / support.
      Please do not put your camera in the top case! It will get destroyed due to the constant shaking. Use a tank bag only for electronics. Cheers!

    • @bigbearbangalore
      @bigbearbangalore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And just another thought! Get yourself the Suzuki top case and go with soft side luggage. There are some waterproof saddle bags available at budget prices which are easy, light and durable. Way easier on the pocket. You can buy the pannier racks from Hepco as saddle bag supports. Later if and whenever you feel like you can buy Hepco hard cases and mount them easily.
      I have sold my SHAD hard cases and moved to soft luggage. I am now using Kriega OS32 luggage system. Though it’s now not available in India.
      Big Bear has a durable SHAD waterproof saddlebag available. You can check with them. Regards.

    Great review sir. I stumbled upon this channel when I was looking for ownership reviews for Suzuki V-Strom & I just loved the way you presented it! I’m actually confused between v-strom and versys 650. I’m inclined towards versys as it’s cheaper by over 1.5 lakhs on-road in Bangalore. I’m not sure if v-strom is worth that premium. Which according to you is more practical in terms of performance, touring comfort and maintenance in real world?

    • @bigbearbangalore
      @bigbearbangalore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! Thanks for your kind words and glad that you enjoyed the video.
      The Versys is a good machine too and maintenance is similar to the Vee and quality and reliability is also good.
      I chose the Vee because of its bigger front wheel, longer wheel base and proper adventure tourer looks. I do not like the look of the Versys. It looks too much like a compact sports bike perched high on small wheels! But it feels lighter and nimbler that the Vee.
      Just a personal opinion. Either purchase would be a good one. Cheers!

    Hi Bosky, nice video.
    I am considering to buy one this year. I just sold my one year old KTM 390 adventure, too much of vibrations from that single cylinder. Especially on long tours.
    I love your luggage system. Please do mention the model names, price and links if possible.
    Thanks in advance

      Hi! Thanks.
      Sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the 390 ADV.
      The V-Strom 650 is a good choice and a great touring machine. I have the SHAD SH36 luggage system on my bike and unfortunately it is no longer available in India. You can consider the GIVI or SW Motech luggage systems instead. You may google for the models, prices and retailers. Regards.

    Having 800 DE and 1050 DE on the cards what's your take on 650 today? 650 seems to be the best in the price range without considering 800 and 1050

    • @bigbearbangalore

      The V650 is like an old war horse. Proven, reliable and cheap to maintain. The new 800DE will be better and will also be costlier.

      Hi! All 3 machines you have mentioned are good highway tourers. The Versys does feel smaller and more manoeuvrable in city and costs less than the V-Strom. Both are similar in terms of performance. The XR is a more powerful machine and also costs more. If you like the BMW badge then go for it. And if you are not brand conscious, then you may consider the V-Strom, the jack of all trades. Cheers!

    Nice and informative video still today.
    Confused whether to buy used Suzuki Vstorm 650 or go with new Honda NX500 for the same price.
    Requirements: Need a bike for long highway touring comfort with pillion and luggage say Bengaluru to Leh, of course not in one stretch.
    Me being an average Indian height of 5.7 and 70kgs will Vee be heavy and difficult to manage while I ride in Leh or such road conditions and NX500 being under powered in highways with pillion and luggage and narrow seats but agile. I'm confused in taking the right decision.

      Conundrum!!! 😀 Test ride to know more. The V650 is a bit low on road clearance when doubles and loaded. So, that's something to keep in mind. And the NX500 may feel marginally underpowered on big highways but should be adequate.

    Hello Bosky, suzuki vstrom 650 or bmw 850gs? Just highway rides, long haul.
    Initially i had africa twin in mind as i wanted to own big bore. Need a motorbike with
    1. Should be a silky smooth engine, no buzz till descent speeds ( 120-150). And torquey.
    2. Comfortable on long rides (suspension and vibration)
    3. Should not remind of 650cc with luggage or pillion
    4. No gizmos
    5. Dont want much upgrades or mods (except JUST the lights). Ride out of the showroom and keep using the same forever.
    6. Should not make me feel that i dont have a litre class
    7. Reliable
    8. Comfortable seats , dont want to visit rao seat cover
    9. Rims having spokes should not keep giving trouble like wheel alignment
    10. Fast but not very fast. Munch the mile faster.
    11. Something like a big, faster and refined himalayan.

    Hello sir how is the ground clearance when bike is fully loaded with pillion. Does it touch well designed speed breakers in Bangalore? I have heard lot of rant about scrapping the bottom on speed breakers on this bike and never heard the same regarding Versys, both has same ground clearance. Doesnt dialling in the suspension work? Does it still scrape? Pls shed some light on this as i need to decide btwn this and Versys.

    • @bigbearbangalore
      @bigbearbangalore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Two up fully loaded, the sump guard scrapes the unique Bangalore speed humps. This scraping reduces if we are smart with the pre-load adjuster because if we crank it up for pillion plus luggage, the scraping reduces.
      And am glad that I have a solid Givi sump guard. Personally I don't care much if the sump guard scrapes and gets scratched because that's why I fit on there. Cheers!
