The powerful impact that Cus had on Mike is extraordinary. Cus passed in 1985. Well over 30 years later at this point, and he still can’t control the emotions when he has to put it to words. The amount of love, respect, fear and honor just can’t be suppressed. I don’t know the exact time frame Cus worked & fathered Mike, probably less than 10 years. The work ethic & knowledge he passed on to Mike still has a powerful impact on him present day. Cus was in the last years of his life when this was happening in his existence on earth. I would love to ask Mike how much of what was passed on he uses today. What is in the forefront of his thoughts. Also, his translation of it & how he uses it today for his children & himself. This is very inspirational & we should share knowledge to make the world a better place. In the end we take nothing with us, materialized or accumulated. What we can do is leave things behind to help generations to come.
When you look at the merciless force of malevolence that Mike Tyson once was, and then you see his total honesty, his humility when talking about fighters today or his personal flaws and limits, his reverence for Cus and Ali, the way he lives now always looking to be a better more complete man, it's hard to escape that somewhere along the way Mike Tyson has become one of the greatest success stories of inner transformation we have ever seen.
If only half the world could have the wisdom, ability to self reflect, and find true self peace like this amazing human! Love you mike. The world is a much better place with people like you around.
To see a strong man like Tyson cry for the love and respect he had for his dad, touches the heart. I hope he gives that back and gets to be that special for someone too.
When you lose someone who’s been your only father figure it’s devastating to a young man. It leaves a hole that can never be filled. I feel Mike’s pain. when he speaks on Cus I get choked up.
Mike really had something special with Cus. He looked at him not just like his father but like his boss and his creator it’s like he was a servant to Cus and he looked at him as his king . The emotion he feels for his deep.
💯 Cus taught him to fight, but he gave him love like a father if not a father…. And every son loves or idols their father! Mike said that if somebody talked negative about him and Cus was there, Cus would beat and punch him! That what a father is supposed to do!!! If only Cus lived a few years longer!!!
It's the love, devotion, and gratitude that Mike feels for Cus that chokes him up. It's a very beautiful and intense experience, what is shared between a student and a master/Guru There is nothing that compares to it.
When I see Mike Tyson cry and get emotional I cry with him. Deep down Mike is a sensitive man and has a good heart. I am glad he was able to reinvent himself and become a better person and learned from his experiences and matured. Given his background I am sure it was not easy to rise above it all. I wish him only the best in life.
Anyone who has lost a parent can understand what Mike is going through. The loss is never very far. You come up with ways to manage it, to suppress the feelings, but that void is just there all the time, that absence of someone who loved you and whom you loved unconditionally. There's nothing on Earth like the love of a good parent and once it's gone you feel it the rest of your life.
@Hugo If you say you don't think about race right now, I think you're being dishonest. I'm mixed and I think their relationship is beautiful and it does mean something that they are from such different cultures and genuinely loved each other.
"It takes more than that to be a fighter" That quote should be right up there with the greatest quotes of all time. Love....pure love. Plain and simple. The one thing that binds is all.
I believe that Cus came into Mike's life with a purpose. The purpose to have a young man, who was struggling in life to be the man he is today. For, his dream was to become the heavyweight champ, but the long term goal was for Mike to tell us the wrongs and rights, carry the knowledge that Cus gave to him. And most importantly, be independent of Cus. The beauty of Mike's story can make a man cry.
I love Mike man. This guy has so much heart but it's the hardest thing in the world for him to show. As scary as it becomes sometimes he is so passionate about the ones he cares about.

The impact that one human can have on another human is an amazing thing. I know it's been well documented, but that man clearly saved his life.
Well said
I couldn't agree more
Real good character development
100 percent
Well said!!! very inspiring!!!
" it takes more that to be a fighter " ....sooo deep
That line (and his strained tone) got to me.
Everyone he beat down was a specimen too.
"It takes more than that to be a fighter", makes me proud to hear him say that.
Talent is not everything. A will of iron.
"It takes more than that to be a fighter" he whispers... fucking chills over my spine dude
When you lose someone who’s been your only father figure it’s devastating to a young man. It leaves a hole that can never be filled. I feel Mike’s pain. when he speaks on Cus I get choked up.
To think about it, Cus really did save Mike’s life and he’s like a real father to him like he never had. RIP
Mike really had something special with Cus. He looked at him not just like his father but like his boss and his creator it’s like he was a servant to Cus and he looked at him as his king . The emotion he feels for his deep.
Tough , Yes . Fighter ,yes. Emotional, very ! Tender, Absolutely ‼️🤗 for Mike Tyson.
bro when Mike cries every man cries.
I think Mike feels like Cus was the first person he felt actually loved him. Cus was his father he loved and respected him.
And he also said cus never wanted no money from him or nothing mike said he never met someone like that
When Tyson get's his Godfather voice you know it's getting emotional.
God bless Cus D'Amato. What he did with Mike Tyson was beyond immeasurable
Thats a love, a bond and a friendship that lasted far beyond death
It's the love, devotion, and gratitude that Mike feels for Cus that chokes him up. It's a very beautiful and intense experience, what is shared between a student and a master/Guru There is nothing that compares to it.
When I see Mike Tyson cry and get emotional I cry with him. Deep down Mike is a sensitive man and has a good heart. I am glad he was able to reinvent himself and become a better person and learned from his experiences and matured. Given his background I am sure it was not easy to rise above it all. I wish him only the best in life.
You were a specimen IT TAKES MORE THAN THAT TO BE A FIGHTER Tyson is real man
Anyone who has lost a parent can understand what Mike is going through. The loss is never very far. You come up with ways to manage it, to suppress the feelings, but that void is just there all the time, that absence of someone who loved you and whom you loved unconditionally. There's nothing on Earth like the love of a good parent and once it's gone you feel it the rest of your life.
It shows the power/impact and importance a man/ father has on a young man's life.
Its beautiful to see such a relationship between and a black man and a white man and them taking care of each other like family.
It not about colour it about heart
What's black and white?
@Hugo If you say you don't think about race right now, I think you're being dishonest. I'm mixed and I think their relationship is beautiful and it does mean something that they are from such different cultures and genuinely loved each other.
@Hugo You're right.
Who gives a potato shit fuck what the skin colors are??
"It takes more than that to be a fighter" DAMN RIGHT
This is the First time I See Mike Crying.. 😔
Rest In Peace Cus 🙏
"It takes more than that to be a fighter"
That quote should be right up there with the greatest quotes of all time. Love....pure love. Plain and simple. The one thing that binds is all.
Love and fear, that sounds like a father to me. He lost his father figure at the worst possible time. Sadly, I can relate to that. RIP dad!
Mike Tyson is actually a really simple man.... and i think we all can learn from that..
His loyalty to Cus and Ali is just inspirational
The respect and the devotion he has for Cus D'Amato is extraordinary.
The way Tyson breaks down when it comes to talking about his trainer/father figure genuinely brings a tear to the eye.
2 times I have seen Mike cry in public and it was over his father figure, Cus, and his legend, Ali. Both tremendous people.
Man who is cutting onions in here
Lol
Damn those onions
I just built my own river
You can feel just how much Mike loved and respected Cus. The raw emotion of that loss is all over him. Cus was obviously everything to Mike!
He was a specimen but it's because he saw his heart. He knew without the shadow of a doubt Mike had greatness in him.
You can tell that Cus was more of a father to him than anyone
“ How did he know that I was the one? “ Gives me goosebumps every time
I believe that Cus came into Mike's life with a purpose.
This is so heartwarming. Mike should be very proud what he achieved. God bless.
What a difference a strong father can make in a young man’s life.
Thanks for being the father he needed cuss.
Sometimes we all need a hug.. even the greatest fighter of all time... We love ya Mike..
its the love he see and he understands you as a person mike !
Discipline is doing what you hate to do but do it like you love it
I love Mike man. This guy has so much heart but it's the hardest thing in the world for him to show. As scary as it becomes sometimes he is so passionate about the ones he cares about.
Cus was like a father to Mike. You can see him regress to the thought processes of his youth. You can feel that there is so so much that Mike wanted to say to his old man.
Mike is so raw and real...its impossible not to like him.
Met Tyson at the Boxing Hall of Fame 3yrs in a row and every year he was so gracious and loyal his fans ,so humble!! He is do muvh more than a champion, he's a beautiful human thats more important than a trophy 🥊👑✌❤🌎🇺🇸
See what it means people? When you have that one person in your life that truly believes in you and recognizes the special talent and soul that you are. That's one of the greatest gifts to receive in life. We love and respect Mike for his talent and for showing respect, humility and gratitude to his coach and mentor. Mike was one of the greatest fiercest boxers to have stepped in the ring!
It’s crazy how after every word you can hear the exhale of a faint breath… you can feel the hurt in Mike’s heart
The father that choose you, and the love that was built with sweat and blood.
Such a emotional and sensitive soul,a great man.
Mike is the true world example of a man who changed for the better. Understands his past has accepted it and just wants to make his kids happy. He has grown as a man in strength and wisdom of the mind and spirit. Cus would be proud of you Mike. Never forget that.
If Cus had lived longer than thinking that Mike Tyson’s record will be 100-0 would not been wrong
holyfield still beats him though
Chris Brown Tyson with a will...I personally don’t think so
@@efecemylmaz2524 i just think his style is suited for holyfield. Evanders is great at countering and using his opponents agression against them. Not to mention he is tough enough to take tysons best shots and stay on his feet til the later rounds when mike is tired then holyfield starts outboxing him.
Chris Brown you’re absolutly right...It’s impossible to think about a fight between prime Tyson and Holyfield because they didn’t fought
@@efecemylmaz2524 holyfield was 34 and tyson was only 30 when they first fought. Tyson fought tomato cans and a few old men in his 20s.
There is no boxer like Mike ! He is IRON MIKE !✊ Lots of respect to Mike !!!
I know exactly what he feels. When you love your father and you fear him but you would kill for him. I felt this to my heart real as it gets love is power man
One of the most emotional video I ever seen😓R.I.P Mr. D.Amato🙌🏽
This really shows that Cus saved him mentally and spiritually, he never believed he could achieve anything before, and then he met Cus and his life changed forever.
Fabulous to see how Mike talks about and honours the great Cus.Fabulous relationship those two had.
