Hyacinth and Apollo, such fiercely devoted... roommates.
Beat me to it
🤣
Hyacinth and Apollo never actually existed tho 😢 but they are roommates in ur mind
@@mecruz - Paris and Helen remain unconfirmed too, and they're at the center of a larger piece of literature that countless people study.
Ye men roommates nit gays 100%!!!
Zephyros feared Apollo's wrath afterwards, and flew to Eros, who protected the West Wind along with Aphrodite, so Apollo couldn't hurt him.
The hyacinth plant was created by Apollo from his BOYFRIEND'S blood (because he refused to let Hades have the Prince's soul).
Also, Apollo (apparently) ended up resurrecting Hyacinthus, who attained immortality.
Love wins
That never happened and this whole story was made to be a circular for Schrodingers who would come on to peoples property without invitation and start parties and Bojangles as well
@@user-zt2bh2tu6ycan you explain it to me or just tell me if Schrodingers is English or a word in another language?

Me: Apollo, how many times must I tell you to stop causing your lovers to have tragic endings.

Yeah, Apollo is innocent in this one

Apollo's only happy love was with Cyrene.
Eros also was the reason for Daphne being turned to a tree. He shot a love arrow at Apollo and a Hate arrow at Daphne, so you can tell how bad that went
it doesn't matter how many times i've heard this story, it will always break my heart in a way i can''t even explain
There's actually a theory that says that Hyacinthus had powers inherited by his mother to tell what has, is, or will happen in life. And so, with these powers, he knew that with Apollo will come death, and being a mere mortal, he is unable to stop death in its track. Having this information, Hya still chose to be and stay with Apollo til the end.
Although this is not part of the theory, I put a headcanom that Hya also knew Apollo's sad pasts with his other loves, and just to make the poor God happy, Hya risked his life.
Hya is the partner we want but do not deserve. Who agrees?
👇
This adds so much more melancholic pain and beauty to the already beautiful story 😢
@@prasathgj BUT THATS JUST A THEORY. A GAME THEORY
Apollo and Hyacinth were of course much more than "friends"! Zephyrus was insanely jealous of this!
They were clearly roommates.

Divine dating is just fundamentally hazardous. This was actually pretty tame compared to the kinds of stuff Hera usually pulled on Zeus's flings and resulting children.
Any Trials of Apollo Fan should be familiar with this myth.
Hycaninth is among the names tied to the myths on Apollo mention in the Trials of Apollo.
Heck anyone who at least read 'Percy Jackson and the Heroes of Olympus: The House of Hades' should be familiar with this myth since it was brought up as to why Zephyrus serves Eros.
@@ashleighstratmann7783 Yes, I remember. The scene in which Eros confronts Nico and Jason, yeah? It was heartbreaking.
I love Trials of Apollo :D
Didn't know the tale of Apollo and Hyacinth involved a love triangle.
This version does (and I think it's the most well-known, since people like drama) but for example the one in the "Metamorphosis" by Ovid doesn't
Never fall in love with a god they always end in tragedy.
Apollo was happy with Cyrene. And Zeus with Ganymede. And Eros with Psyche. I can't think of any other god+mortal love that had a happy ending now...

@@fmaximo1979 I'm pretty sure Eros and Psyche had a happy ending
I heard another version of this myth which makes it even sadder-:
(After Hyacinthus’s death) Apollo ran to Hades, begging him to bring Hyacinthus back to life, Hades refused, when that didn’t work Apollo ran to Zeus, begging him to make him mortal so he could die and join Hyacinthus, Zeus refused. Defeated, then he went back to Hyacinthus’s body where the Hyacinths grew from his blood.
It’s so sad how he lost the only person who loved him 😢
Hyacinth (to Cassandra): You don't want Apollo ? That's your loss.
I mean didn’t he killed Artemis ( his sister) best friend Orion I guess what goes around comes around
Yeah, it's super sad. 😢😞
@@savagedarksider2147 loss* it’s “that’s your loss”
On the plus side, this was one lover of Apollo that didn't turn into a plant until AFTER the second date.
Hyacinth also had two other admirers: Boreas, the North wind, and Thamyris, a Thracian singer.
This is one of my favorite Greek stories, even though it's so sad. Like, why can't Apollo just be happy with someone he loves?
Hyacinth was loved by both Zephyr and Apollo, but he apparently preferred Apollo's company more (I guess he found being the lover of the Sun God more appealing than being the lover of the West Wind)
@@firxanza5172 Yeah, Zephyr really adopted the notion of 'if I can't have you, no one can.'

What a sad story! But I hope that Apollo can revive Hyacinthus and make him an immortal as god of vegetation. Also, please don’t forget that Hyacinthus was son of Pierus of Magnesia, a mortal, and Clio, the Muse of History.
Do not sad and hold to your resolve, Apollo. I'll go out with you and replace Hyacinthus.

Hyacinth wouldn't have been black if it's Greek myth. Disliked.
But ... Africa is right next to them, they traded with multiple civilizations across the Mediterranean... it is very VERY plausible to have people of pretty much any color even people from the Middle East.
Am I missing a point here?
"European" is not synonymous with "white" (btw, Europe as a conceptually "white" continent did not even exist at the time).
Research the real colors of Greek statues on the internet and you will see that they painted their gods and heroes with brown and even darker skin sometimes.
The ethnicity of almost no ancient Greek characters is mentioned in the myths. Greece was one of the nations most open to dealing with regions of Africa and the Middle East in antiquity since before the time of the Trojan War, so it shouldn't be strange to have people of color there.
Only modern racist views want to insist on an illusory "white purity" of Ancient Greece.
