Have covered important concepts, there are very less videos which also discuss about the significance of obtained values and process which you have included very nicely. Thank you for the video.
Nicely explained sir. One doubt step 4.2 GMM Maximum specific gravity of loose mix and GSB, Bulk specific gravity of aggregates are two different properties as per my understanding. Please elaborate on this point.
Yes, Gmm is the specific gravity for zero air voids, also called theoretical specific gravity Gsb is the density of the compacted sample, it has some air voids also
Very informative video sir. Sir as you discussed here in the optimum binder content , check parameter is outside the range for redesign, how we check parameter, and where ranges will be find( in graphs?) ?
Sir, I have one doubt to be clarified. After preparation of mix and before compacting them in the mould, dont we need to place the mix for 2 hours of conditioning at compaction temperature? If we wont keep for 2hrs conditioning, doesnt it affect the binder absorption ?
For 1 marshall sample preparation approx 1200gm of material (aggregate + filler) is required. How is bitumen quantity measured and mix in percentage for 1200gm?
Filler material has many roles in a mix. It fills the voids in fine aggregates, after mixing with binder it creates bitumen - filler mastic which provides stiffness to the mix. It holds the binder and prevents bleeding in the mixture.
@@SatishIITR Yes sir i watched...but in that video you said any one of these two method is used to find Gmm.. that's why i am asking sir.. which method will give precise value of Gmm.

Which specific gravity use of material to determine Gmm by equation? Apparent or bulk sir??
bulk specific gravity
Sir can we use Marshall mix design for other gradation also??
Yes, Marshall is used in almost all types of Bituminous Layers like BM, DBM, BC, SMA and others.
provide Superpave Method of Bituminous Mix Design
Ok, will do soon
Sir, can we use 2% filler(cemwnt) in DBM mix (25mm Nominal mix) and what will be the benefits using the cement,
Hydrated Lime is better, because it provides anti-stripping properties to the mix. Cement will only add to Marshall stability and strength.
For 1 marshall sample preparation approx 1200gm of material (aggregate + filler) is required. How is bitumen quantity measured and mix in percentage for 1200gm?
binder is taken by weight of total mix. If binder content is 5%, take 60 g bitumen and 1140 g aggregates.

Sir why we use Filler material in DBM or BC Mix Design
Filler material has many roles in a mix. It fills the voids in fine aggregates, after mixing with binder it creates bitumen - filler mastic which provides stiffness to the mix. It holds the binder and prevents bleeding in the mixture.

@@SatishIITR , Thank you so much sir 🙏
Sir Cracks is coming on my site just after laying and Rolling of DBM. Laying and Rolling temperature also maintained. what is the reason behind sir
Problem might be in the mix design. Issue of fines. May be due to excessive fines and low air voids.
good job

Sir if we are using RAP or any waste material in Mix, then which method is recommended to find "Gmm".
equation method or Rice method

Sir For BC grade 2,what percentages of bitumen content to be taken in order to find OBC.
The OBC for BC Grade is generally more than 5.0 percent. So start Marshall tests from 4.5 and go up to 6.5 percent in steps of 0.5%
