I believe that she does not entirely blame herself, but rather her biological sperm donor for thr death of her sister. At the very end, she accuses him of murdering both siblings. I believe there is guilt, but not fit causing her sister's death, though doubtless it remains a powerful "What if".
@@alcam8781 Ah, yes. Of course the intense heat, crackling fire, suffocating smoke, screaming evacuation of her siblings wouldn't alert a 5-year-old to the danger of a house fire. Lori should be dead, not Susie.
@@alcam8781 yes. 5 year olds typically don't fully comprehend the seriousness of a dangerous situation, especially if they haven't actually been taught what to do in them. Nowadays they teach fire safety to young children in school, and really drill things into their heads like "stop, drop, and roll" and how you need to just get out of the building as quickly as you can and not try to grab anything. But I don't think they really did this yet in the 1960s.
I know of something like this in my family, but it has been too long to do anything about it and almost everyone is dead. Now someone has stole the identity of my missing sibling, but went into hiding just before Social Security gave us an address. Someone knows what happened, but won't speak the truth. I last saw my brother in 1992. When you speak truth about twisted family history, everyone stops talking to you. It is my living nightmare.

Lori, a true heroine. Good for her for forcing the city to be accountable for the deaths of her siblings in the fire. Beyond the police and the F.D., we must also have family members unite against these monsters be they male or female. RIP Lori’s mum and her sisters.
I was more interested in the fire. Very peculiar that the only people who witnessed the wife’s death almost died in the fire. With a pot on the stove? Who left it on? Did the dad leave it on and then leave?
@@Pickledfeet165 The answer to that is yes. Back in 1995 the fire was reinvestigated and it was determined to have been arson, but because Gene was already serving a life sentence the state didn't charge him for it, nor any charges resulting from the arson. Lori ended up suing the city, for the cops and fire department botched/inept investigations, which won her a $5.5 million dollar settlement.

I'm from Phoenix and this was front page news. People had suspected her husband but there wasn't the forensic science in 1967 that there was in 1993. From time to time the papers would do a rehash of the case in later years. Last I know the house is still there today. Lori must have been tormented to have lived thru all of this (now 57 years ago) seeing her father kill her mother and having her sister die in her arms. No human can ever take that kind of torment without some form of permanent damage.
Mr. Keidel was a horrible man, husband and father. Lori is lucky to be alive today to tell the story she saw when her father buried her mother. And to tell his children that Diane ran out with her boyfriend, was very cruel. How did he dare you say such thing to children??? Poor children they didn’t know what to think except to expect that their beloved mother would return someday. Poor Diane, she had no idea that she was going to die at the hands of her own husband. I hope that Lori finds peace in her mind and heart to understand how horrible of a man her father is. Mr. Keidel didn’t care for the children nor for Diane, he was a despicable person. It must have been awful for Kori to keep that secret for so many years. Rest in Peace always Diane 🙏💐

@@celestialasmr9209 she was 5! Kids don't fully understand death at that age. And also typically won't comprehend the seriousness of a situation like a fire, which is why they might not get out of the house immediately or will try to grab their possessions first.
I watched an episode on "Evil Lives Here" about this case, what she went through was very heartbreaking. How could a father do something like that to his own children? Not only were law enforcement too lazy to investigate her mother's disappearance but they were too lazy to investigate the house fire & deaths of the children. His abnormal behavior while the surviving children were hospitalized & being treated for the burns on the bodies did not raise suspicions? There were too many red flags, there should have been immediate investigation involving the house fire. The hospital should have NEVER allowed him to remove the children out of the hospital against medical advice, they should have been in the custody of child protective services. Foster care may not be great but they probably would been safer in foster home than their evil father. The traumatic stuff he did to try to kill her, it's a MIRACLE that she's alive because most people survive that kind of trauma. She is one strong survivor

Yes, I'm sure that the amount of lies that detectives hear makes them distrust the daughter's story of what she saw, but my god, what do you have to lose?!~!!! I'm also wondering if it was the father that started the fire.......he wasn't home, and just came home when the fire dept. was called.
I’ve nearly forgot this, but I’ve watched the same episode back on headline news, channel or HLN BECAUSE AT THE END OF THIS EPISODE, THEY HAD AN UPDATE ABOUT THE FATHER, WHO HAD MURDERED THE CHILDREN’S MOTHER, BECAUSE I’VE LEARNED THAT HE HAD PASSED AWAY A NUMBER OF YEARS AGO, WHILE SERVING HIS TIME IN PRISON.
🥳👍💯🌈A total win for the American taxpayers… This criminal got away with murder for decades and only suffered for it because the daughter finally came forward after waiting 27 FKN years! That’s some pretty low brain power to believe the man can hurt you after you have moved out and been an adult all those years. It’s great that she came forward, but waiting so damn long while he enjoyed life. She should feel guilty about her older sister dying so she could go back to get her stupid toy. The older sister should have been smarter and told her we will get you another one and dragged her ass out of the fire.
The entire story is crazy with pain. The sister who died, the father who murdered his wife, and being sick enough to take a child to an open casket funeral, demonstrating that he clearly enjoyed the children's pain.
💯🤮 A testimony to the failure of the fictional faith systems of the world. There are so many gods! Why waste time with prayers? Wouldn you say it was god‘s plan, god’s will or god working in mysterious ways that allows MILLIONS of people to die after saying their prayers for fresh water, food, safe housing or just a government that didn’t want to kill them because they were different? The only thing “the faithful” receive as a reward is knowing that their leaders live luxurious lives with private jets, fabulous cars, magnificent mansions and amazing vacation trips all at taxpayer expense while the followers give at least 10% of their hard-earned money for those lifestyles. Pathetic.🤮
I imagine the case may have been solved quicker had it not been for the horrible luck of Bob Marley passing away the day after the murder. He would have verified that Diane had made it to the bar, intended to return home after, and drove home. While it wouldn’t have proved anything it would have poked massive holes in the husbands story and prompted suspicion.
Yes, a tree produces a ring every year. And within that ring, they can tell things abotu the environment based on the rings. For instance, a drought year will have very thin rings as the tree conserves energy for life-sustaining activities and minimizes growth, while a tree in a perfect climate with have thicker rings. I've even heard they can find specific chemicals showing if the tree was burned years back or exposed to something. The tree jsut makes the record in the ring and keeps living it's tree life. Can you imagine what could be found in the rings of those giant redwoods in California that have lived for hundreds of years? Quite fascinating stuff!!!
@@Kiama17 I think in this case they had to get permission to check with GPR and then get permission from the current owners to open that one spot to check. If I owned a place and someone thought a body was there, I'd likely want to help. Even to jsut give the person a burial and family closure.
Did you question why, even after Lori told them where her mother's body was, so much effort was made to identify it? WHO else could it have been? Confused me.
This is why the Word of God is so important bc it keeps us from doing these things..........like she said the wrath of God will be nothing compared to what he got here on earth and that is scary.

Bro the guilt of “my sister died because I wanted my toy” must suuuuuuuck
I know a guy that his house caught on fire and he couldnt get his girlfriend out because she didnt have any clothes on and she died because of it.
I believe that she does not entirely blame herself, but rather her biological sperm donor for thr death of her sister. At the very end, she accuses him of murdering both siblings. I believe there is guilt, but not fit causing her sister's death, though doubtless it remains a powerful "What if".
She was 5 years old, an innocent small child. She didn't know any better. 😔
The child actor in the reenactment calling out..wake him up..was too good an act !
I'm so sorry for what you're going through. If almost everyone is dead, maybe it's time for you to tell your story and get that burden off your mind. You could make a blog so people can read your story, including the police, and you could make it anonymous if you feel you can't put your name on it. The people who've done terrible thing deserve to be shamed, and you deserve some relief from carrying those secrets all this time.
There are online communities of people interested in cold cases. I'm sure they would welcome you to tell your story and help you put the pieces together.

What a tragic story of her life, I pray she find peace in her life again.
This is prob one of the most heartbreaking situations I’ve seen on FF.
Completely Agree!
Exactly the same story recently in South Australia. Guy punched his wife once, she fell and died. Ended up under the fresh concrete slab for thirty years. He said she ran off and disappeared. He is now in prison.
A tragic story that could have been solve on that time if only the police had taken a thorough look and investigation 😥😥😥

Damn... Some "people" are pure, unadulterated evil. Rest in paradise to Lori's family.
Yeah. But with a chin like that, I bet nobody in prison changes pillow cases faster than him.
Not all people, it's mostly young men.

updates: Gene Keidel died in prison in 2004. Lori received a settlement of $5.5 million from Phoenix city since the fire was reclassified from accidental to arson
Thanks for the update. I'm glad she was compensated. That was obviously arson.
Lori, a true heroine. Good for her for forcing the city to be accountable for the deaths of her siblings in the fire. Beyond the police and the F.D., we must also have family members unite against these monsters be they male or female. RIP Lori’s mum and her sisters.
I wonder if they ever looked into her boyfriends heart attack or if there was witnesses to it. That was quite a coincidence.
Nope.
That's what I was wondering. Very Suspicious.
Lori ended up suing the city, for the cops and fire department botched/inept investigations, which won her a $5.5 million dollar settlement.
so the compensation just goes to Lori? What about her brother (the only sibling who is now still surviving hopefully)?
Most disturbing videos I have seen so far. This is so sickening poor lori at 5 years of age had to go through such an ordeal.
There's a longer episode of this case on a series called Evil Lives Here. I felt so much for this daughter. In that episode they talk a lot more of her burn injuries and how the dad tried to drown her
OMG
Those poor children what they went through 🙏😢 God bless you Lori and Greg..Rest in peace Diane, Suzie and Kelly

This is probably the saddest episode I’ve ever seen. God Bless them! 🙏🏾💚
And the boyfriend died at the same night from a heart attack? I highly doubt it. That man is a serial killer.
Good point!

This is so sad I send her love light healing and protection 🙏🏽💖 he’s definitely wicked and sick
My """absolute:::: favourite episode of forensic files.

There is no hell it was right here on earth.
May your beautiful Mum and sisters rest in eternal peace
Lori. Much love from Australia and I salute your bravery throughout those terrifying years. ❤
I’ve been saying that about hell being right here on earth for years now. 😔
That father destroyed everything he touched. What a monster.
For 29 years that sad excuse of a father got away with murder and it infuriated me that the police didn’t investigate further! They didn’t see the freshly poured concrete? And to make it worse, he tried killing all the children months later? He probably decided that taking care of 4 kids was too much work. Such an evil man! It’s good that Lori turned him in but she should not have had to do so if the police did their job! Such a horrible and tragic story! 😩😭😭😭
He wanted to kill all the kids leaving no witnesses to their mom's murder
A very wicked and evil man

@@Charlie.M.Green1905, the way he did it made it impossible to confirm arson. A pot on a stove that is on, it could have been him, it might have been one if the childten. It is sad and tragic, but ultimately beyond human prosecution for lack of evidence, especially after 27 years. But is the timing and nature of the fire in relation to the timing of the murder highly suspicious? I believe so. Would I be willing to convict him on a hundred charges for that incident that stop short of murder? Absolutely.
I found this particular video extremely haunting and truly tragic 😥!
Human beings are so dysfunctional, because our families are structured incorrectly. Marriage is unnatural. Human beings evolved to live in tribes, not marriages. A lot of the violence in our world is committed between husband and wife.

He also murdered his other children in fire evil father
I cant believe she had any relation ship w/her father after all that. And living in fear of him killing her!
Just watched this episode of evil lives here and this is one case that's gonna stick with me... How horrific
The entire story is crazy with pain. The sister who died, the father who murdered his wife, and being sick enough to take a child to an open casket funeral, demonstrating that he clearly enjoyed the children's pain.
She a walking testimony of our Lord and Savior 📖
Pathetic.🤮
I feel so bad for Lori and her brother Greg, but why didn't her brother talk about what happened too
He did not witness it
Can you fathom that they can determine how old a tree has been standing or growing from it's tree roots...
Hmm interesting stuff.
Broke my heart 💔😭
She was a little kid. That Pooh bear toy probably provided most of her comfort after witnessing her mother's murder.
Its astonishing the 'powers that be would even hesitate to break up a measly concrete slab.
Yeah. But they need reasonable suspicion. They can walk into your house and break your pool foundation wide open. That's 100s thousand in damages.
As an older sister I would have done the exact same thing as that brave little girl did💔 only death would prevent me from protecting my sister❤
She didn't run away from her children.. I don't have to watch to know that
Did you question why, even after Lori told them where her mother's body was, so much effort was made to identify it? WHO else could it have been? Confused me.
This is why the Word of God is so important bc it keeps us from doing these things..........like she said the wrath of God will be nothing compared to what he got here on earth and that is scary.
