Magnum are a band who could have easily fallen on relying totally on their wonderful back catalogue. They are so special as they produced high quality, very special albums on a continual basis until, well, this week. What a talent Tony was and his music will live on forever. RIP Tony 🎸
I have so much admiration for Tony - he’s a hero and I simply couldn’t imagine my life without the presence of his songs. I’ve had the privilege to of met him on a few occasions and every time he’s given me his time and words of wisdom. Thank you Tony for the music ❤️.
It's hard to write new material that holds up to the older stuff. The last 7+ albums they made were on repeat in my opinion. Same song melodies, same drum comp, repeated stuff almost directly taken from songs of their own done before. Nothing is as good as the albums from "On A Storytellers Night" up until "Sleepwalking". Still a band that kept at it for a very long time. CREDS for that. Also they wrote about stuff that actually matters all the way through their career. Not som stupid BS that most bands just keep on repeat lyric wise.
Tribute band ... about as much as the “real” version then really. He must forget that Mickey and Mark helped shape the sound of the band. To me it’s the others in the band that are living on the bands former glories.
Wally Lowe, Mark Stanway and Mickey Barker were the mainstays of the band from 1985 until 1997. It's tragic to hear that Tony doesn't give them an ounce of credit for their work shaping magnum's sound since 1983. Think Tony treats Mark Stanway especially like shit, probably because of bitterness that someone dared to challenge Tony and his monopoly on writing songs. Then I agree with several people who say that Tony has never been a solo guitarist. He is skilled at writing songs, but not a remarkable guitarist at all. He simply doesn't have that little something extra to be called a guitar hero
He's a brilliant guitarist. You don't need to be a shred king. He came up with brilliant riffs and melodies which is more than enough. He was also a songwriter extraordinaire. These attributes sustained a long career.
Goodbye Tony. Thanks for all the fabulous music. Magnum will always live forever in my heart and my head. Such a great loss.
RIP TONY CLARKIN. Your fantastic music witll always remain with us forever. 😒👍👍

Thanks Tony for your music, and passion, and the great tourmemories I still keep in my mind.❤
Rest in Peace Tony Clarkin, Thanks for everything - I have most of your discography. Not a bad song!
Be at peace, Tony! Thank you for everything.
Songwriting is an amazing gift. There are many great musicians who cannot write songs but Tony had it in spades.

Just one question , if Mark was a problem from the start, how was he in the band for 30+ years ?
Good interview with Tony, who is starting to look more relaxed with doing interviews now.

Reign or rain, tiers of Heaven
Dreadful!
Thanks Tony, goodbye.
In my opinion is Tony Clarkin the only rock musicians from the 70s and 80s who's last 10 abums are better than the 10 first.
