Wow. I am impressed by this. I’d love to get my daughter one for Christmas. She played percussion in school. I would like to see more reviews of instruments like this. Thanks
Fun!!! My elementary school's band taught glockenspiel as their percussion instrument. It was so popular you had to be chosen to learn it! I went with flute in band, but one of my good friends got lucky and learned glockenspiel!
Wow I’m looking to learn an instrument as an adult. That seems cool and something different. Was loving the sound of a hammered dulcimer but Thinking it would take way longer to learn. Love your video and your personality
Thank you! Depending on how much musical experience you have, the hammered dulcimer might actually be easier - it's more intuitive for those with no musical background, in my opinion. But if you know anything at all about piano the bells will definitely be easier! 😊
Thank you for this test Molly, now I know I won't buy this model. Can be OK for kids, not to make a record with: Aluminium is a no-go for me, I'm looking for affordable tuned percs for the backline of my recording studio, this one won't make it, I feel that the most affordable OK-sounding one is a €222 (but comes with a stand and some accessories) 32 notes one from Thotho. For sure, the Bergerault or the Sonor ones are absolutely stellar, but they're in another price range (885-2300€ for 2.5 octaves) while the entry-priced ones for 3-3.5 octaves are at 1.4k€ and consider €3.8k for the Bergerault or the Adams ones. I'll delete this one from my Amz list, it won"t make. I'm not against cheap instruments, I used an €120 (in 1992) Korean fretless bass for 15 years: once I had installed an EMG PB+JB pickup set and did a few mods, it sounded truly as good as a Fender US one: the body was "only" 7 parts of alder while it's not uncommon to see 11 parts on Fender US standard series (yup!) end 80's/early 90's, but, on this one, sorry, aluminium blades definitively don't make it, it's a toy glockenspiel
Great video Molly and I love your work. I am a Piano Teacher in the UK but have always wanted a Glockenspiel or Xylophone and was looking on Amazon this morning. Could you try Hedwig's Theme from Harry Potter at some point (if you get time) It sounds great on piano and my students love playing it - but I suspect it would sound really good on your new instrument. 😊
Oh wow. That makes my soprano glockenspiel look lame. LOL. I've always liked the sound of keyboard percussion instruments. This one has a really nice pitch range. I love the way it folds too. That makes it so much easier to transport. Very cool!
I loved that soprano glockenspiel too! I'm low key on the lookout for a nice wooden xylophone or tongue drum right now, I feel like I need more woody tones in my life 😅
Also I don't know if that is a piano behind you it looks like one but it looks beautiful I only play keyboard so I am excited to maybe get a piano in the future
Hi to Molly and viewers of Molly's introduction to this new fold up model of wood / alu glockenspiel. I would dearly like to make a point in terms of musicality, playability and tonality. I hope that Molly won't find my suggestion too abrasive however I would like to suggest to those prospective buyers of this simple modern style glockenspiel that an almost warm , and beautiful tonality is actually possible from the same ( sort of) modern instrument. Please refer to other generous u tubers whome have made recordings, especially those in which the musician is standing and the glockenspiel is being struck clearly and crispy- also plastic mallets- with the instrument placed on a proper 3 or 4 foot stand .
hi dear friend good evening how are you? excuse me is there a glockenspiel instrument but it's first note to be c 4 in the middle octave and this model of glockenspiel instrument that you have spoken about it it's first note is almost in fa and sol 5 octave? and please guide/lead me.
Hello, I am from France and I discovered this xylophone by chance on the Internet. 👍🏻 I quickly liked it! Already by its magnificent wood and its aluminum notes. The drumsticks are super suited to the instrument. I'm a beginner but I've already managed to reproduce Eminem's Whitout Me. (lala la la) 😄 I even managed a chorus by Michel Sardou (Les Lacs du Connemara). It's crazy ! 🤩 I discovered your channel recently and it's a bit thanks to your video that I wanted to acquire this instrument so...thank you! 🥰
@@Haroun-El-Poussah Hello 👋☺ ( _We don't know how to greet these days..._ ) Thanks for these informations. 👌 Does that change anything? 🤔 Currently, I have no problems with the instrument. It's perfect ! ☺👍

@@Haroun-El-Poussah The notes are aluminum. The rest is wood. I find that this xylophone is of good quality for the use made of it. 😉👌🏻 Don't worry about insects, the wood is treated for that. 😃
I just bought one of these as a result of your review. I like it, but as you said the mallets aren’t very high quality. Can you recommend some different mallets to buy?
Great question! I have been experimenting with different mallets and found that rubber doesn't give a good sound, but wood makes the bells ring out very clear! Try these: amzn.to/3jhZHR9 I really am loving the sound 😊
Right! I am thinking now, we as the audience should get a bit of Mozart or Beethoven or Vivaldi being played on this new Glockenspiel. How Musical is Molly Khan?? Would love to find out. :)

@@MusicalMollyKhan Okay. This is what you do. Well, the real glockenspiels cost about 3800€ for a Bergerault or Adams, and even 5600€ for the Kolbach, these are no toys...
I also just realized it has a keyboard layout that will make learning it much easier for me already knowing the note layout
