My Jeep did not like the comment I made suggesting it was unreliable in this video..... and is now spewing oil all over the driveway to prove how reliable it is. Luckily I had my Toyota to run and get parts.
Had a few jeeps with the 3.8 litre V-6 which was grossly underpowered even for a small body they were rentals but not half the jeep brand the Cherokee Laredo or the J10 truck was with AMC 242ci 4.0L
@@stevemino142 These new jeeps feel like they are made of the cheapest materials ever. This little 3.6 has decent power on the road and gets fair mileage... but after tearing into it with only 55k miles ... it feels so cheaply made I will never trust it. I had quite a few beater jeeps when I was younger that I would trade this for in a second ha ha ha. Had a J10 with a 4sp and 360, thing ran like a champ and built like a tank but needed more seats for the family, had a 65 wagon rust bucket, a 68 Jeepster Comander as well. The Jeepster was a great little rig, steering was scary and the 3sp was useless on or off road ha ha ha.
Awesome little adventure. You’re right about the prep when it comes to hot tenting. The last time I did any "hot tenting" was when I was in the army…😉🤣 I was thinking how my little 66 beetle would fare doing some camping in snowy conditions. Giving thanks is always a good thing. ✌️✝️
My Grandfather used to build VW buggies for off roading before my time, he had some home movies of the adventures they would go on in them, amazingly capable little rigs!
It’s seriously amazing standing in a winter wonderland like that. I absolutely love it. It’s so peaceful and beautiful. I hope someday you get to experience it!
This looks so cozy and the perfect winter camping setup! Definitely makes me want to get out and try it….Minus the issues with wind and leaving early 🏕 ⛄️
Hey thx for the video and the others you make I like it when you say thx for the food to the god An injoy the Wild and relax. Keep up the good job😂💪🏾💪🏾
Really enjoyed your video. The food looked amazing and the fact that you gave thanks, won me as a subscriber. I also drive a Jeep😂 Keep setting camps! 😊
Thanks for sharing your video! I'm looking at maybe getting this tent and was wondering if you had any other comments on it after having used it? Are you happy with it? Thank you.
Thanks for watching, I would say for hot tenting this tent is ok. I like it better than my teepee style hot tents when using a stove, it has better head room with straight walls, room for a cot etc. I don't and would not really recommend this for warm weather camping or Non Hot tent camping, I have other tents I like much better. It is nice having the "porch" area opened up for processing wood or setting under when snow/rain. There are some things I don't like though. It is a bit fussy to set up and requires a lot of room to stretch out the poles. The inner bug proof nest is an extra step to mess with in warm weather. The roof of the tent at the rear has a triangular shaped section where the poles all cross in a raised fashion, this will hold and trap snow loading the roof down, it will have to be cleared if it snows a lot. The front flap or "porch awning wall" is two pieces, the outer is the tent, inner being a bug net. The inner bug netting is the layer with the sod skirt or snow skirt, so if you are using it like I did in this video with the bug net rolled up you will have a large gap under the front of the tent, not a big deal just have to use the bug net when buttoned up even in winter. The porch/awning seems like a good idea... but it is low to the ground so you will want it raised up to have head room... but that will send any water running back towards the tent and can run down into the main tent, its just something to remember if dealing with lots of water. One other thing I found to be an issue was the 6 points of contact on the ground. The area must be relatively flat or the center pole and anchor points will "float" above the ground, you wont be able to stake it down properly and you will have a flappy tent in the wind and a gap under the side walls. It is similar to wall tents that do not have adjustable center frame supports. Given the price now of 300 dollars and it having some weird design oversights I might not buy it again. I just don't use it in warm weather like I thought I might as I am normally not staying in one area long and like a faster setup time and room to stand up. Hope this helps!
@@Scablands_Scavenger Thanks a ton for the detailed response....given your comments I might just hold off a bit. I'd only really be using it in the fall/winter here in Ontario but there might be better options out there. Thanks again!
Hey Scablands! Just found your channel and I gotta say, Wow! You do amazing camerawork, the quality is insane! The audio is also awesome, I personally enjoy these no music videos, where it's just you and the sound of nature. You make quality and valid content. You actually stay out there unlike others who just go home and wait the cold night out. Also gotta mention your cooking skills! Amazing job with the food, that looked delicious and nutrisious. You actually show great techniques , and your personality is also awesome. You are calm , funny. Your voice is also very relaxing but hey, I will leave that line for the ladies😂. Your videos actually make me sleep faster, they are so calming. Oh and also, be careful with the carrots, you know, family is family. 😂 Keep up the amazing work and hoping to see at least a Million followers on your account. You definitely have the skills to reach that. Keep pushing amazing content , will definitely be returning to your videos. Have an awesome day man! P.s.: I love your jeep, it's cute:D
I’m stuck in snowy Chicago right now I am not a camper just stuck being cold bc I’m homeless through no fault of my own and I’m really scared bc it’s going to be going down to negative degrees in a few days and I just don’t know how to be ready for it so if anyone has advice please tell me
That is a whole different survival. My advice would be reach out to all family and friends extended relatives, reach out to your local Church. Next I would seek out help from local community, for instance we have special programs here for women and children fleeing violence such as Hope House, UGM charities and Catholic Charity House and other programs for substance abuse cases, searching Chicago I see quite a few of them there as well. Next I would go to state level help, persistence normally will be needed to get through the bureaucracy. There are programs for Veterans, call the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans at (877) 4AID-VET (877-424-3838) for assistance. · You can also call or visit your local VA Medical Center or Community Resource Office.
Yes it can, the pipe gets very hot. Most "hot tents" have a special section sewn in that is fire resistant high temperature material called a "stove jack". These can be purchased or made to retro fit non hot tents as well.
One should always check 1's camp. Say the trees around it looking for anything that might break easily a dead branches. I would didn't would last year walking and all of a sudden. A huge branch gave way across the path. You could probably hear the sound of the branch breaking and the crash of itt hitting the ground for a mil4. That's why they call large dead branches, "man killers!"
Well I suppose its like I said at the end, some trips are super awesome... some trips just don't go as planned. Personally I like to take short 1-2 day trips to test new gear before longer trips to see how equipment will work out. This trip was basically a test of this new stove and tent. The tent did ok.. but I will change a few things. The stove needs probably one more section of pipe to help with the backdraft, and I will add a stabilizing ring to help in windy weather. With a few changes a longer stay should work out quite well with this setup... but I am glad I took this test run to work out the system. Once you get a setup that works it is pretty rewarding on longer trips, but it may take a day or two to get in the "zone".
Oh? how is that? I left a few hours ahead of planned but what else is there to do, setting around in a flapping tent in the dark lol. After spending most my life working and recreating outdoors It's not a big loss losing a few hours on a one day trip.

You deserve better then that fix it then sell it maybe. There have been tomeny complaints. Maybe try a gmc or ford even Toyota

As someone who really loves camping but hates the cold, i noticed you didn't speak until the fire was blazing, and i realy felt that lol
A gentleman with religion and he reads before bed? I always want this kind of life style, I respect this guy.
Giving Thanks to the Lord, Very Cool. Thank You.
Amazing and peaceful life. No Internet or social media. Just nature, cooking and being outdoors in peace. Wonderful. 🎉
Great video! Always love watching people camp in different environments.

Dang this is just like Benihana's. Next time sushi 😁
Ha ha, I wish... most the fish around here would give you worms.... If ever I go to the coast though, Salmon Poke and Sashimi are on the menu!!
Relax 😌
6:22 Is that a half a tater that you used to start the fire? 🤔
It was a store bought fire starter, compressed sawdust and wax. They were on clearance in the summer so I thought I would try them.

How's the trail hawk holding up? Do you still prefer tomahawks over a more hefty axe?
never seen a stove inside a tent before; doesn't the hot pipe against the tent material cause a fire hazard?

That looks very familiar. Is it near sacheen lake?
About an hour and a half south.
I don’t get it? What’s the fun? I mean, I get it, it’s challenging though you sound unhappy and who wants to breathe in smoke.
