    Thanks for explaining your modifications. I find it endlessly fascinating what people can do and what ideas they come up with when it comes to tuning a firearm. I love the 1911 design, and always will. It was the first pistol, actually the first firearm of any type, I ever shot way back when. They are also the only stock pistols that fit my hands perfectly without modification. They just feel so natural. I've moved on to lighter carry guns, but I still have four 1911 types, in .45 acp, that I still shoot and will always be a part of my collection. You have a great weekend too!

    • @jb111082
      @jb111082 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can understand carrying a lighter gun, but my Rock Island Armory 1911 just feels right when I carry it. I enjoy feeling that weight, and even though it's a 500$ pistol, it's never jammed once on me in over 500 rounds. I trust it with my life, so that's why I carry it.

I’ve shot the M&P’s at my local matches too for years and they are my favorite striker fired guns!!! But for all metal hammer fired guns I prefer CZ’s to 1911’s, 2011’s, or Sigs.

    Love the hat (tam) and you wear it well. Which do I like the most? Hmmm, the stainless one catches my eye. But the one with the 8 ft. long barrel looks interesting. But I wonder if I would need a tri-pod to shoot it and it may take three days to get it out of a holster. The one in your hand, even though, on camera, it looks plain jane, reminds me of an original 1911. So I would probably run with that one.

    • @juliegolob
      @juliegolob  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would be very interested in your comments regarding the 1911 in .45, 1911 and possibly the ,357 Sig. Thank you.

    • @juliegolob
      @juliegolob  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      .357 Sig is a neat cartridge but its pretty snappy and also expensive to get ammo (boxes or handloads). Some do opt for .40 especially back when you could get an extra round for shooting major power factor. Now that the sports have settled on capacity limits for major/minor you mostly see .45 for major and 9mm for minor in competition. I prefer .45 to .40 all day long because I like the way the recoil impulse feels and it shoots softer. I used to compete with just .45 until 9mm 1911's came out. It took quite a while to tweak the 1911 design for 9mm, but it's now my favorite. For me, the extra rounds outweigh the minor scoring and so 9mm is what I choose to compete with.

    I am like you I shoot a lot of different divisions. What do you do to keep sharp with different platforms?

    • @juliegolob
      @juliegolob  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dry for starters. I do try to keep things as consistent as possible like not transferring hands for revolver reloads and opting to finish these top ends in black. I very rarely jump around in divisions at the same time so, if I am training for Bianchi, I'll shoot Single Stack. I try to bunch my divisions and sports based on the schedule if that makes sense.

    Do you ever have any trouble with external extractors on your 1911s or is that just something people made up about them being finicky

    • @juliegolob
      @juliegolob  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So, I haven't had issues with any of my external extractor 1911's. In fact I have to watch my internal extractors and those have been know to lose tension over time. To be fair though all my internal extractor guns are have compensators and run specific loads where as my external extractor guns are made to shoot any 9mm.

    How much is it to have a gun made custom?

    • @juliegolob
      @juliegolob  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends if you're sending components in or not. It also depends on who is doing the work. Not including components it could be $1000-5000 or even more.

    Julie luv you girl ... you are one of my favorite lady shooters. I have watched this video several time and every time I open it and I am not sure if you know it but there is always an anti-Trump or pro-Biden comercial every time I open it which I skip every time! Keep kicking but girl ... luv you!

      So funny! The thing that's interesting is that TH-cam asks you to declare your content and because this one is all about guns, that's where I categorized it. That means TH-cam automatically limits my ad potential but apparently the Left has so much money to spend they are willing to put ads on it. Interesting isn't it. Sometimes I click on them because I know It costs them more that and if it's a channel I really enjoy I believe it helps them out. Food for thought

      @@juliegolob May I ask; do you think it would be useful for someone to practice at home with a replica CO2 1911 blow back pistol before joining a pistol shooting club for real "Classic" shooting?
      You see, where I live it's hard to get a license, and the beginner courses always start in April, which I unfortunately missed this time around. So now I have a whole year to improve on my shooting skills, but will not have access to a real gun during this time.
      I figure by using smaller targets at a closer range, that would eliminate the CO2 pistol's accuracy problem while maintaining the difficulty to hit the target. So I figure the only other big difference is that the recoil would be less and the trigger not as good?
      But with the right equipment I could still practice speed, accuracy, aiming with open eyes, hitting moving targets, reloading etc etc? Do you think it would be useful, and do you have or know of any good videos that shows specific drills to work on?

    • @juliegolob
      @juliegolob  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@viperracing2889 ABSOLUTELY! CO2/Airsoft/Pellet guns... these are all great options for training, especially with ammo the way it is right now. Better gun handling, fundamentals, confidence.... All that and more. As far as drills, I have a few on here but really you can set up anything that challenges the areas you want to improve. Here are a couple of links to some books for dryfire but you can certainly use them with your CO2 pistol as well.
