Thanks for the wonderful update! It's so nice that Sterling is doing better now. He sure looked perky while you were talking! :) It's also a good thing that you knew the signs and symptoms to watch out for so you could make the vet run those tests and give the necessary meds. Oh, and I love how cozy and separated your room is being up in the attic. (It's literally an introvert's dream to have such peace and quiet. hehe!)

Haley, my bunny used to suffer with these. I strongly recommend Natural Science GI support. The serving is 2 tabs and literally has been a lifesaver. Ed used to always suffer with gi issues and wouldn't eat because of it. These tabs have worked wonders. No more tears.

Thanks for sharing. My rabbit had GI Stasis a few months ago. It took a week of force feeding and meds until she started to feel good enough to start eating on her own again. She recovered and is healthy and happy again. Glad your bunny made it.

One of my rabbits passed away on February 29th due to GI Stasis. We did what we could but it was so unexpected. I miss him terribly but now I try and spread awareness. Your videos are amazing because your information is so accurate and helpful. Please keep helping rabbit owners.

My rabbit got spayed this year in may... I think they dropped her while trying sadiate her and her back leg was broken. Then she had baddd direah so I freaked out and they gave us this medicine to help her. That stuff blocked her stomach and she stared loosing weight rapidly. We notice she was dehydrated so we took her to the vet. They were gonna take her out of my hands and she screamed and I knew she was gonna go. That I knew when we came back she was wrapped in a towel. I miss my baby😞

We have a rabbit who didn't eat or drink for 24 hours, had gurgling noises coming from his stomach, always say as if he was in pain. So I thought he was having gas problems and this lasted about 5 hours. But then suddenly he was back to normal eating and drinking and running round! Why do you think he just recovered so quickly?!

My bunny had a stasis event over 4th of July weekend. Love my local vet. Learned the emergency vet we go to isn't very good :( They told me not to bring in my bunny who wasn't eating and was 4 degrees below normal temperature. Learning bunny sub-cue fluids was interesting haha!
    Glad Sterling is feeling better!

The same thing has happened to me with vets before- If I can't go to the rabbit savvy vet and get the wrong vet they don't know what to do.
What I do know whenever one of my rabbits stop eating is syringe 1 tablespoon 15ml of electrolyte fluids to fend off dehydration. Then prepare to go to vets. Becuase fluids won't hurt if there is a blockage- and extra hydration may help intestines start working again.

When rabbits grind their teeth, it is called "teeth purring". It usually means they are happy, unless they are showing signs of pain or fear. My rabbit "purrs" when I pet him.

+Eliza Hjzfju Like stated before, rabbits can do a soft tooth grinding when they are happy. It sounds a lot different from tooth grinding from pain. When a rabbit is in pain it is VERY loud and sounds extremely painful to listen to. You will know when you here it.

His normal hay isn't Timothy? We get small pet select 3rd cut Timothy hay. I've had rabbits for almost a year now and I'm joined in my rabbit house society. I pride myself in my knowledge and love of rabbits but sometimes I ask silly questions so my apologies! But it's ok for them to eat orchard grass hay all of the time? I give them orchard grass as treat hay personally.

My rabbit has been acting strange every once in awhile. A week ago she froze and her head started wobbling and a little fluid was coming out of her mouth, then she started getting limp. I thought she was gonna die quickly, I took her to an emergency vet, that checked her out and said she seemed to be fine. She kept eating and drinking, so I don't think she has it now, but I'm always scared she's going to get it, I watch her like a hawk when I'm at home. This morning she had alot of nasal discharge, which scared me because there was so much mucus, she was struggling to clear her nose, to breathe, but she eventually cleared it. She seems to be ok now. Also I have a small cat, they love each other, but lately my rabbit has been getting really scared when the cat chases her(she use to love it and encouraged my cat to do it, but my question is, can rabbits get so scared that their body goes limp and acts like they're dying?

Strongid is a dewormer (pyrantel pamoate) usually used for horses and livestock. It's used for strongyles, roundworms, and pin worms. If your bunny has internal parasites and this is what your vet suggested, I'd do it. Left untreated, parasites are deadly.

What caused his GI Stasis? What's his diet like? I'm so scared if this ever happens ti my bunny. He is a baby still. But I'm doing my best to him what he needs.

+Grace Bentley I actually have been unable to bond for about 3 months now due to my rabbit Mocha having contacts for an eye treatment. Once I get the ok from the vet I can start bonding again! :)

Mine too. My bunny died a couple of days ago. I didn't know what's the reason why she died. She is 8 months old. Not too long in my care :( She is a very healthy bunny and suddenly she just stopped eating :(

Mine just died a couple days ago too...... I woke to him collapsing and screaming.... I tried picking him up and he screamed again and died...... Saddest thing I've endured in quite some time....
GI stasis is no Damn joke!! 😢

I lost my bunny who is 6 years old a few days ago... i regretted not bringing her to the vet in time n the cause of her death. But i think its highly possible she died from GL stasis. Im so sad n overwelmed by her dismay that i keep praying that she would forgive me n that shes in a better place now. So i hope pet lovers n owners can be more aware of wat to do when their rabbit is sick so that they can be treated earlier than never...

Haley is there a way to prevent GI stasis in rabbits? I'm so scared of losing one of my rabbits I've already lost one this year, I'm not even 13 until next year and it's super stressful knowing one of my bunnies could get sick and die :(

Sterling looks JUST like my bunny Reesey, but she's a female. Extremely small... does that mean she's less than a year old too probably? I don't think she's a dwarf because her ears are pretty big already. But her breed is 'tan?' Please reply I'd love to know more about my rabbit. I should post a video too.

So glad to see Sterling being his healthy and naughty adolescent self again.
I hated to give my sweet leucistic dwarf subcutaneous injections, but he didn't seem to feel any pain.
Unfortunately he disappeared not long after recovering, probably taken by a predator bird, took me months to get over it, hoping every day that he would magically turn up again.
