These Durangos are very solid vehicles. I have a 98 and a 99. Installed a 2 inch lift kit for $400. A torsion Key on the front and add a leaf rear. Added some Bilstien shocks and it really improved the ride overall. I paid $300 for the 99 with 132K miles and paid !500 for the 98 with 96K miles. I have many other vehicles and same Era Dakotas. The MPG is the only downside I can see with these. I get between 15 and 17 hiway mpg and 13 to 14 city. One has a 5.2 and one has a 5.9.
Absolutely beautiful hands down the Durango first generation has to be the best SUV ever made besides the Jeep Grand Cherokee those durangos are still on the road everywhere I saw a blue one last week in Syracuse New York beautiful shape!

What brand of lift kit would you recommend for a rwd Durango?
I'm just gonna put a reinforced light bar and rear bar with weather matts

Best bang for the buck v8 you can buy.
Just a question, have you ever had an issue with the transmission?
Not so far but it has lots of miles on it so that could come any day.
