Nicely done. Using a 6.35 mm dowel as a connector between the two halves for the center band final sizing (sanding) would insure a matched diameter. That would also give you a visual on how the three parts mate.
@@DerekBailey-jc7rk Not really. Here in the US I just get 1/4" dowel stock. It is usually Poplar. Keep in mind, you are not using extreme pressure to sand it. You can even use a file for roughing in.

Good idea it would have to be a dense hardwood but would work if it's just for sanding. Good thanks.
