  • Ok,Ok, so its not Analogue...but its a cool box from over 25 years ago. Widely used and popular at the time as well as still currently affordable.Please excuse my rather "grubby" fingernails! Been chopping firewood...!

    just got one recently for 55 USD, it was filthy, the pads are now yellow, but it works and it's pretty awesome really.
    the worst part is the snares, those are pretty wimpy. the Kicks are punchy and when you overlay the "electronic kick" to a slightly downtuned "power kick", it's quite vicious.
    just got some E MU SP-12 EPROMs, gonna see how that goes.

    hi how are you controlling via midi? DAW midi to interface, interface midi out to HR-16, audio to interface? have tried this with my hr16 with ableton but couldn't get it to work - any advice?

      @jonryman  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +mainline 1. buy POS 20 dollar usb to midi. 2. plug it in. 3. press return. you'll have be more specific to elicit more info..:)! really shouldnt be an issue if its just midi in to the HR...

    Have had one for years and never put 2 and 2 together about layering sounds. That is key. I can now get a super industrial snare layering a tuned up gated kick and one of the shitty snare samples. Genius. Thank you

    So this thing isn't analog, it's a digital drum machine, but would you say it has it's own unique sound when recording the outputs into an interface?
    Like what is the difference between recording the sounds you get from here and just using an HR16 samplepack (if that's even a thing, idk)

    • @jonryman
      @jonryman  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      a long conversation. in theory...a sample pack from, say a linn lm2 should sound the same. after all the linn is juts crappy samples anyway right? well....i wish i could tell you why here but i can not...its too long. if samples worked so well then these machines would have no re sale value...the fact that they command thousands on ebay should answer your question. its all about the timing and a load of other shit that no one will probably notice except you and me!
