YOU would not want to cross paths with this man's hyena. Animal trainer Luke Cornell has been working with deadly animals in the film industry for over thirty years. His South Africa farm called 'Cornellskop' boasts an animal menagerie that includes lions, cheetahs, ostriches, baboons and many others. Assistant trainer Shané has been working with Luke for over four years and is confident working with all the animals at Cornellskop - except one. Hyena Lola is a loyal and loving animal towards Luke, but anyone else that crosses her path "is meat". Luke said: "If I'm not in the vicinity you can stroke Lola through the fence and she will be really sweet, the minute I'm in with her she turns into a psycho." For the first time in years, Luke has attempted to get Lola to finally warm up to Shané, but it didn't quite unfold as they hoped...

The “LION KING” really had people view hyenas in the wrong light. These are powerful apex predators and are tough as nails!
😂😂😂LION KING😂😂😂
Ed was the only stupid one depicted. 😂
@Zaifromthe9 smaller mouths usually do anyway
A pack of hyenas could take down almost anything
Very dangerous animals. Smart, sneaky and aggressive.
The baboon at the end drops the sign like “ok, I’m done.”
I'd be done too if my junk was tied with a rope. Lol.

Made me skip the whole damn video just to see that part Lol

Lola is the perfect example of not biting the hand that feeds you
Bite every hand except the one that feeds you I guess
No, it will bite your hand or mine even if we feed Lola. 1. She's already well-fed. But if you insist, she prefers to eat you. 2. She spares only her master. To the rest of the world she is a psycho. 3. Stay away from Lola. To us she is a plain hyena not Lola.

4 seems to know what he's doing
5 doesn't seem like he's abusing the animals or training them cruelly.
Exactly to me if someone knows what they are doing and treat the animal right with food and space then they can take care of virtually any exotic animal but somehow it’s still animal cruelty but any way that’s just my opinion
Dark _ Fe4R how is it still animal cruelty?

Why am I not surprised at all?? 🤣
this guy knows what hes doing, hes feeding them with a stick
not because of fear of his hand but as to not get them to link his hand to food
conditioning is a powerfull thing
He's already conditioning. You don't need food for that. The very essence of his training is conditioning. He is I'm guessing without knowing, conditioning the aggressive responses you're seeing with his leash, tools he's using and with his very presence since she's the one he's imprinted on.
Once you take that Hyena out of the wilderness and place it next to a human, you realize how big this thing actually is.
Yeah in documentaries they look kind of small since they’re always around lions, elephants and other such large animals but then you put one by a human they look massive.
SO FREAKING TRUE.. I'VE BEEN WATCHING HYENA DOCUMENTARIES FOR MANY YRS NOW... AND I JUST NOW REALIZE HOW BIG THEY ARE ... OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Him: *bout to get hurt or robbed*
The hyena: *hold my food cause this fool has ChoOseN dEaTh*
The music drop when the lion came on the scene was dope.
The only thing keeping this man alive are the food he's tossing that hyena. He tosses food like every 5-10 seconds. Lol
Whatever works. But the food is definitely not enough.
So one can’t have a pet hyena ?
Yeah, walk in that enclosure smelling like meat and see if that keeps you alive 😂

This is NOT a man who loves animals, did you notice he has a string rapped around his baboons penis? Perhaps this is an effective means of training but it's heinous & cruel.

"My hyena attacks everyone but me." ......well maybe cause it's a freaking hyena.
Lol, Right!?
That does not make sense hyenas attack everybody
No it's simple. He is the dominant one over the hyena. The woman did not stand her ground to the hyena. Instead she backed up when the hyena approached/charged at her and right there the hyena is the dominant one and not her. You got to have the testosterone to put that hyena in it's place. If he backs down or don't show dominance over that animal for split second it can be all over for him though.
Nunster's Place I agree. But at the same time , that hyena could turn on any of the keepers. It’s hard to expect wild animals to be completely tame. Not saying that it’s not possible but definitely extremely dangerous
Sunshine Eternity590 they are pack animals. He has been close to Lola since she was a pup, so she is close to him as if he were a pack member. Anyone not in the pack would be attacked
5:36 The boss's entry.... Just like a perfect badass ❤❤❤❤

@marvnogood Check for Kevin Richardson. He treats the animals way more humane than this. You’ll see the difference

Really? I understood everything he was saying very clearly. But maybe that's also because I used to work in a business( for a long time) with a LOT of foreign workers who had some of the thickest accents you'll ever hear.
What a gorgeous lion
Yeah, I don't like lions, but he's a handsome fellow.
When I saw the title “my hyena”, I was like, what?
“What could go wrong? Well you could end up dead” 💀
Honestly people scoff at me when I say hyenas are beautiful, how can they be seen any differently. Definitely would NOT want to get that close. I'm perfectly okay enjoying them through a screen. I like horses more, I dont have to worry about them eating me. But I can see the basic foundation of animal training, not the kind that serves any purpose but enriching the animals lives. I bet that baboon freaking loved playing fetch with food. It was free real estate to all of them. Free meal
Then don’t be scared
Really!! But hyenas are beautiful

He would probably just try to pee on him

Bone crushing jaws? Stroll the country side. I wouldn't leave the Land Rover.
It's not difficult. An attacking hyena has the tail straight up, cackling, and charging towards you. A relaxed hyena's tail is down, and they're making groaning noises as a sign of content.

It's awesome to see all these animals. The baboon and the hyena are particularly cool.
"Good! Give it to me."
Baboon: YEET
I like the baboon 😂😂😂
Lola could bite your hand clean off in an instant. Can't be too careful with a powerful predator like that.
@Seasexnsun Yeah well I've seen hyena attacking a lion and coming up behind one and chomping on her back leg and that's all I needed to see, to learn. Words and papers about how hard some dog can bite in comparison isn't really relevant.
@Seasexnsun A hyena can actually bite pieces clean off. There's a video of an oblivious zookeeper getting her finger bitten off.
@Seasexnsun Your side by side comparison photo looks like the heavy-duty industrial model vs the at-home consumer. ;)
I already wouldn't stick my hand in an angry dog's mouth so these replies don't move the needle. "Look at that p'ed off Akita, let's go pet it!" "Wait let's check the psi first! "
@Seasexnsun smh....you do realize you are one of those people TRYING to sound intelligent...right?
@Seasexnsun I understand I just don't really see what difference it makes. You want to talk about the bite of a very large dog. I wouldn't start ramrodding people about hyenas in videos about very large dogs but hey, some people probably would. Sounds like nonsense too, but since you're so adamant about your claims, provide your source.
If I had a big beautiful beast like those I'd be saying the same thing. " hey leave those people alone" 😂
Very interesting and perhaps one of the best videos I've seen quite some time thank you 👍
okay but the monkey flipping tho 🤣

Let’s see Lola in the next Harley Quinn movie
Yea the fact that The Joker never had any of them in the live action movies is crazy
Harley did have one named Bruce in the Birds Of Prey movie but Margot Robie explained on the special features segment for the movie's DVD why they couldn't get a real hyena on set( and they tried to) and why they had to use CGI layered over German Shepherds.
This monkey really just did a whole flip more than once. That was the coolest thing I have ever watched
Definitely looks like protective behavior, dogs can be the same way around their masters, anyone that approaches can be attacked.
Hyenas are not members of the dog or cat families. Instead, they are so unique that they have a family all their own, Hyaenidae. That said, by taxonomy, hyenas are closer to cats than dogs.
If a hyena starts liking you, it will follow you for their life, very loyal and social animals
Thanks for sharing! Hyenas are very cool animals!

Hyenas need a clan, a family. They are very social animals always living in a group. Without that, they will not feel complete and can be dangerous. Usually humans have to bond with them from a young age. Hyenas are so smart. The biggest problem when trying to interact with any wild animal is fear. If they sense fear then you become prey. So how do you conquer fear? I cant anwer that. I think trainers eventually get attacked. The people who dont are the ones who respect them and not try to turn them into circus acts. Dogs like to be trained. They have evolved that way but not hyenas or lions or tigers. Respect them. Leave them alone when they are in the wrong mood for being with you. They wont hurt you if you respect them.
Thanks mr zoo keeper
God bless you man and all of you stay safe
?Question?
Why do Hyenas have a back that rises from tail to head at around a 45 degree angle, where most other quadrupeds have level backs? Seems like Hyenas are almost built like a giraffe.
I think it was that way in order to sustain the musculature of their upper body.
They are, sicentist believe the build helps them conserve energy when they run on flat plains. They also use their build to help leverage themselve agaist struggling prey, ther shorter back legs allow them to anchor themselves better with their long front leges as they pull agianst prey that is trying to escepe. Their upper body is powerful too, they can carry large chunks of meat a fair distance.
That guy really has got the clue about these nasty buggers. Chapeau!
I thought the title said "my hyna"
The BOER saving the animals. LOL!!
He has an English name. Might not have any Dutch stock in him.
