    Hey this is Brad from Pennsylvania PA. I have the 2022 Honda Goldwing tour dct. Thank you for the video. I just switched over to the Honda synthetic oil and did my first initialization for the DCT I was a little nervous but everything came out good so keep it coming I’m on a roll.

      We are glad that our videos are of help. That's why we are making them. My brother and I are just a couple of regular guys with basic mechanical skills, making videos to show that anyone can do some of this stuff. Thanks for watching and stay safe out there 👍

    If you haven't found something to Brian the oil into yet, grab the one from your local Harley dealer. They have a low profile one that is only about 3 inches tall and holds 10-11 quarts. It's only about $35-$40 and works great on the wings.

      Yeah, we have seen the low-profile oil drain pans. We use disposable cooking tins to drain the oil in. Then we pour into empty oil jugs. Then, eventually, we will take all our oil jugs and drop them off at our local automotive repair shop. I might pick up one of the low-profile pans eventually. Just haven't gotten around to it. 🤣 Thanks for stopping by and watching. Stay safe out there 👍

    If you do your own oil change on the2018 up wings be sure you have the right cap wrench for that filter from Honda or approved parts sales. Some aftermarket wrenches will bottom out before engaging the flutes on the filter and slip especially those with a combination size for that size and the next larger filter.

      Nice to know. Thank you. Not sure what filter wrench my brother is using, but must be working. He been doing all the oil changes for his Goldwing. Thanks for stopping by and watching. 👍

    Listen up Roy! We are more interested in the GW than Harley! Haha! I’ll be doing an oil change on my 2022 very soon. Thanks for the vid!

      LOL. Yeah yeah. The Goldwing videos get more attention than my Harley videos, I know. There be more install videos for the Goldwing coming. My brother is going nuts with the accessories, haha. Thanks for watching and stay safe out there. Now go change your oil. 👍

    I did the oil change on my 2021 Tour DCT last week. What I really need is a video detailing how to clean up all that spilled hot oil off my body, clothes, tools and garage floor.

    • @RoysMotoVentures
      @RoysMotoVentures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Was it that bad? How did you get it all over? We spray a little brake clean on oil spots on the garage floor. Thanks for watching and stay safe out there 👍

      @@RoysMotoVentures Theres very little room between the top of drain pan and the bottom of the sump. The engine is hot, I don’t have the dexterity of a gynaecologist. So, as the first plug pops out, hot oil gushes all over my hands and bounces over the pan on to the floor and onto my sleeves (I’m lying down on my side during this entire process). Then when I drop the filter, it falls into the nearly full oil pan there’s a huge splash. My original post was meant to be humorous. What I really need is to jack the bike up about a foot so there’s more space to work.
      Because checking the oil level on the GW is such a convoluted process, I only add 4.4 litres (I.e 200 ml less than recommended). Then take it for a short ride, come back check the oil level and add the necessary amount to bring it up to the correct mark. This prevents over filling which is as bad as too little oil.

    I’m always one step behind you😂. Did the center kick stand get in the way? Do I need a stand like you have for the front wheel? Where did you get your parts?

    • @ericschult1555
      @ericschult1555 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan, you can either use the center kick stand or a wheel chock, both will work just fine, I use the wheel chock because i thought it was more out of the way and kept the bike nice and tight. As for parts, you should always shop around. I find amazon is great place for a lot of things, but other places like wingstuff have sales too. You can find links above to channel products that we all used.

    That bash plate has taken some abuse already - good investment. I love that color and how the bike looks, but I do not miss doing the DCT filter change. I always used the standard DCT filter O ring and never had a problem with pinch. Do the DCT initialization after every oil change and any other times in between if the transmission starts acting wonky - doesn’t hurt to do it and the shifting becomes smooth as silk. Good video 👍

    I have the same bike, just bought it with 3k miles. I’m concerned that the oil change hasn’t been done, not sure. Dealer couldn’t tell me. Thought these things were put in the computer. Any way on other bikes i has in the past they have an oil change ie maintenance light. Does this model have s maintenance light for oil change? My st1300 did so that’s why asking. Or just go till 8000 and change it. Tia keep the shiny side up. Ex navy so the color scheme is perfect

      This is my brother's bike so I will have reply to your question. I don't know if it has a maintenance light. My bike has a miles since last service readout. Thanks for watching and stay safe out there 👍

    • @ericschult1555
      @ericschult1555 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      there is no maintenance light on this bike. Normally you would do oil change at 4k and then every 8k afterwards. I am assuming since it not 4k miles yet, it has not been done. If you bought it, I would recommend doing the oil change at 4k and then no worries after that.
