A part of the issue with the thermal imploder clip (BF2) is that it was thrown in a small depression. I think that blocked out some of the explosion's animation
100000% agree. Battlefront 2015 was superior in several aspects. Visually and audibly, but also in terms of gameplay. The weapons felt better and targets weren’t bullet sponges like in BF2. Normally in Star Wars, it only takes one laser to take someone out. In BF2, I’d unload 100 shots on someone and they manage to escape

The laser thing is kinda like in the first good two Battlefront games. In the first one they looked incredibly nice and light! But were very slow. In Battlefront 2 (2005) they are kinda like in the new one. Barely visible but fast as hell. Great thing: you are able to get some mods too change that problem. But not with the new Ones :(
Not a single comment on how they screwed up the thermal imploder animation in BF2? In the first there is a clear implosion happening, in 2 its a regular explosion just bigger than a detonator. Also all the explosion effects are way clearer, and overall nicer in bf1. Just look at that at-at explosion. It's a step back not forward.
I actually think that it's because in Battlefront 2, they privileged contents and gameplay instead of graphics. All the graphics of Battlefront 1 are better, the textures, the explosions etc... But the maps feel more alive in Battlefront 2, with more particles like leaf, birds and so on. It's like Battlefront 1 was the demo of their new graphic engine and Battlefront 2 is a more serious game which was not created only to show the engine's capabilities. It's split frames to see the implosion and the explosion and smoke lasts lot longer, so when gaming it's way more difficult to see. While in the first game i spotted imploders across half the map, easily. Also they left almost no smoke. Thus making it less appealing.
the funny thing is, if you were to show me these 2 games side by side and ask me which one i wanted to play, without knowing which one was which, id pick battlefront 1 every time. something about it just looks.... better. the visuals, gun animations, everything. im just glad battlefront 2 has more content, star fighter assault is awesome.
To be honest I think that BF2 is better in this respect because I feel like gunplay requires more skill with more recoil and more spread, so it makes you want to ADS. But that’s just me

My one gripe with the sound design is the E-11's firing sound. It should be the one from the OG Battlefronts, which were themselves based on sound used in ANH. To me, the original sound communicated power, and made me feel like a badass whenever I used it. Heck, it's part of why I favored the Empire in the second game. The A280 is also different, but I don't care as much about that one.
Ryley 18 Basically everything that fires a blaster bolt or even a lightsaber changes the sound throughout the films. I prefer the Rebels blaster sound from the OG Battlefront game. And the Republics DC-15 sound from the OG Battlefront as well
Shadowy-Squid 682 Oh god. The Republic blaster rifle sound in the original Battlefront was the most horrid thing to ever assault my eardrums. The DC-15 and DC-15A both actually sound like the movies in the new game. And with regards to the E-11, I also prefer the sound from the original games, as they were based on the original trilogy sounds, but the new E-11 sound gets a pass because it's based on the sound the E-11 makes in Rogue One and is pretty spot-on.
You're not alone... I want to enjoy the new one... I really do, but I can't and I don't know why. I have over 700 hours on the first one and now I miss it. Maybe it was the smaller modes like old HvV and cargo.
It's unfortunate really... I loved the first one and when I saw the second was even better I immediately pre-ordered. I think it's the fact the old maps actually seemed to have more care put into them, or the fact the objectives seemed better then compared to now. That's my take atleast.
with all due respect i have to say the gameplay is a lot more fun in the new game (especially classes) and the maps are more complex and fresh. Its just that battlefront as a whole is getting a little old to you i think.

I've played the Demo and some of the actual game at a friends house. I'm getting the full game for myself in a week. But from what I have seen. BF2 Weapons are better in some ways (Such as Recoil and Kick) But worse in others (Generic Sounds added to iconic sounds, Rate of Fire Nerfed on some weapons) You know the phrase "Can't fix what ain't broke"
One thing I like about the orbital strike in BFII compared to BFI is the fact that you can hear canon firing before the actual strike so it feels more like it’s actually summoning in fire from an orbiting ship compared to them just appearing
Sniper rifles were shitty and frustrating in the first game. You couldn't oneshot someone without shooting him in the head (I'm okay with that) but with the immediate overheats, you could'nt shoot anymore and the ennemy just had to hide and wait to recover his health. Now you can finally kill with a sniper rifle and it's not that easy, it's just more balanced. It shoots faster but do less damage, you need three hits in the body to kill or one in the head. I prefer that instead of "Whoops, finally touched him but in the body, well let him run I can't shoot anymore !"
Nedran You could just use the T-21B in the first game, which functions similarly to the default snipers in the second one, killing in three hits and whatnot.
Dallin N No. How about you actually try playing the game. You unlock attachments via kills with the weapons. First unlock is at 50 kills and is usually a stock to reduce recoil. Then some other stuff at 100 and 200 I believe
on of the things that really take the immersion out in BF2 is the respawn time, it makes the gameplay less chaotic making it a less enjoyable experience.
Faulty Blue yes, sometimes 10 seconds of respawn is too much and now you cant respawn with a buddy near yo the Battlefield, you always respawn far away from the objective.
That's nothing compared to cross era heroes, blasters, and snowtroopers on every planet. Makes the game feel like a nihilistic joke. The first game was a lot more immersive, despite having only one era.

Death Troopers would only spawn when and If Krennic was on the map. How is that worse than making them reinforcements? I’ll admit that you’re right about Jump Packs, that’s something I never liked about the first game and made no sense. But that’s not nearly as bad as Rey fighting Grievous on Hoth, cross era blasters, and extremely out of place skins. Both games suck anyway so why bother arguing about failed reboots? You can trash them as much as you want. I don’t care.
I feel like I enjoyed the gunplay and graphics in Battlefront 2015 much more than battlefront 2, but In Battlefront 2 the characters in third person look much cooler and are aesthetically pleasing. Keep in mind this is my own opinion, and battlefront 2 does have a few improvements, like starfighter gameplay, but overall the special effects in battlefront 2015 were much smoother, clearer and satisfying.
Battlefront 2015 is so much more polished and they really perfectly nailed the atmosphere. Battlefront II feels like playing battlefield 1 but less satisfying. I think the issue the first game had was that it didn’t include a lot of content and had quite a narrow focus, whereas with the second game it feels like there was too much stuff for them to handle making to the same standard within whatever time limits they had and with at the time peaking poohole EA micromanagement. I still think bf2 is great, and it definitely feels more intense and immersive with the battles to me, but if it was more finely tuned and crafted like the first game I’d be playing it a lot more than I do. At the moment I’m designing a Star Wars character for my concept design degree so I’ve been into it again, I actually got here trying to find out why the ‘default’ DC15a in bf2 is smaller than the unlockable one lol.
One thing I like to point out, BF2 incorrectly mixed up the name for the A280 variants. The StG-44 style blaster is the A280C, the M16 styled one of the standard A280.

I got both battlefronts but I think the first one is still more fun and gives off great memories plus I feel like I have to stay in third person for bf2
actually all star wars weapons are all based on real life guns like the german ww2 mg-34 and british sterling smg for the E-11 imperial standard blaster. You can clearly see the magazine port in some guns and some even have the receiver handler.
I think the fighters are better in Battlefront 2017 mainly because now you have to have good aim to take fighters down instead of just holding a button to lock on an enemy

Gosh Battlefront 1 looked so much better. Explosions seemed to have gotten twice as big and violent, yet they don't do any more (seemingly less) damage. It makes it so unsatisfying. Blaster bolts look like shit/don't exist. Mood lighting in BF1 was done artistically and with care, lighting in BF2 is washed out and lazy with glaring contrast and exposure issues that make everything impossible to see.
I'm pretty positive they took shooting from battlefield one and changed the way it looked so save money. I liked the shooting mechanics in the first one a ton more
One thing I liked about Battlefront 2015 was that all of the weapons were unique. In Battlefront II (2017), all of the starter weapons operate exactly the same as each other; they just have different sounds and looks. Pretty lazy on the devs part if you ask me.

Strange that no one else has mentioned it but in the first battlefront they seemed to have put much more time into the visuals which is probably why there was such a lack of content in it as well, at least we have more than a handful of maps now
The new overheat sound is annoying and unnecessary. That skybox in the old Jakku map looks fantastic. It almost feels like the new game was a downgrade..
Battlefront was my very first PS4 game. I enjoyed it very much. Hours and hours of fun. In my opinion, the e11 is without a doubt the best weapon in the game.
Bf2 should’ve included all original guns from bf1 in the initial launch just for the sake of making the game so much bigger. Really liked using the t-21 heavy blaster and t-12 blaster pistol. And the Bo rifle was sick as fuck with that melee electrocution
As with comparison of UFC 2 & 3, it is 1:1 - with less detail, blurring, and adds microtransactions. Literally the animations and models / texture are superior on the older title but they expect you to just buy it.
It's less about the way it looks but the overall mechanic. Swbf1 was more like shooting blasters while swbf2 is more like shooting guns that look like blasters
To be honest though I like the new Battlefront 2 more than the old ones. (Wait! Hear me out!) The old ones just look like complete shit now. It's at that point where it's not old enough to be retro but it's way to old to be modern. Second it seemed too linear; capture points. That was it. I like having something else to do rather than just do the same thing in a different spot. Thirdly, it obviously doesn't have the Resistance or First Order as the prequel trilogy wasn't even fully out yet. I'm not gonna count that as too much against it hence that's why it's third, but come on! That's 1/3 of Star Wars completely missing! Don't get me wrong, I loved the originals, but I like the new ones a lot more. They have more content, they're more fun, and they look MUCH better.

Edited: battlefront 1 has best graphics but bad gameplay, battlefront 2 has lower graphics than the first 1 but gameplay is up by 2% goodness lets take 1 brownie point away off for EA screwing up...
The atmosphere in the first one was just way better. In the second one everything just looks that plastic like and many unnecessary effects just get you out of the universe. The first one was just way better in atmosphere and what was espacially great was the weapon feeling. The second one just didn't nail it.

The change in pitch is extremely subtle but I would say that it sounds more accurate to the movies in battlefront 2

I've played the Demo and some of the actual game at a friends house. I'm getting the full game for myself in a week. But from what I have seen. BF2 Weapons are better in some ways (Such as Recoil and Kick) But worse in others (Generic Sounds added to iconic sounds, Rate of Fire Nerfed on some weapons) You know the phrase "Can't fix what ain't broke"

One thing I like about the orbital strike in BFII compared to BFI is the fact that you can hear canon firing before the actual strike so it feels more like it’s actually summoning in fire from an orbiting ship compared to them just appearing

It was really weak in the old game.
Sniper rifles were shitty and frustrating in the first game. You couldn't oneshot someone without shooting him in the head (I'm okay with that) but with the immediate overheats, you could'nt shoot anymore and the ennemy just had to hide and wait to recover his health. Now you can finally kill with a sniper rifle and it's not that easy, it's just more balanced. It shoots faster but do less damage, you need three hits in the body to kill or one in the head. I prefer that instead of "Whoops, finally touched him but in the body, well let him run I can't shoot anymore !"

Dallin N No. How about you actually try playing the game. You unlock attachments via kills with the weapons. First unlock is at 50 kills and is usually a stock to reduce recoil. Then some other stuff at 100 and 200 I believe

Seriously, it was a solid gun in Battlefront 1, but you couldn't pay me to use it in 2
on of the things that really take the immersion out in BF2 is the respawn time, it makes the gameplay less chaotic making it a less enjoyable experience.

Faulty Blue yes, sometimes 10 seconds of respawn is too much and now you cant respawn with a buddy near yo the Battlefield, you always respawn far away from the objective.
That's nothing compared to cross era heroes, blasters, and snowtroopers on every planet. Makes the game feel like a nihilistic joke. The first game was a lot more immersive, despite having only one era.

Death Troopers would only spawn when and If Krennic was on the map. How is that worse than making them reinforcements? I’ll admit that you’re right about Jump Packs, that’s something I never liked about the first game and made no sense. But that’s not nearly as bad as Rey fighting Grievous on Hoth, cross era blasters, and extremely out of place skins. Both games suck anyway so why bother arguing about failed reboots? You can trash them as much as you want. I don’t care.
I feel like I enjoyed the gunplay and graphics in Battlefront 2015 much more than battlefront 2, but In Battlefront 2 the characters in third person look much cooler and are aesthetically pleasing. Keep in mind this is my own opinion, and battlefront 2 does have a few improvements, like starfighter gameplay, but overall the special effects in battlefront 2015 were much smoother, clearer and satisfying.
Battlefront 2015 is so much more polished and they really perfectly nailed the atmosphere. Battlefront II feels like playing battlefield 1 but less satisfying. I think the issue the first game had was that it didn’t include a lot of content and had quite a narrow focus, whereas with the second game it feels like there was too much stuff for them to handle making to the same standard within whatever time limits they had and with at the time peaking poohole EA micromanagement. I still think bf2 is great, and it definitely feels more intense and immersive with the battles to me, but if it was more finely tuned and crafted like the first game I’d be playing it a lot more than I do. At the moment I’m designing a Star Wars character for my concept design degree so I’ve been into it again, I actually got here trying to find out why the ‘default’ DC15a in bf2 is smaller than the unlockable one lol.
One thing I like to point out, BF2 incorrectly mixed up the name for the A280 variants. The StG-44 style blaster is the A280C, the M16 styled one of the standard A280.

actually all star wars weapons are all based on real life guns like the german ww2 mg-34 and british sterling smg for the E-11 imperial standard blaster. You can clearly see the magazine port in some guns and some even have the receiver handler.

Explosions seemed to have gotten twice as big and violent, yet they don't do any more (seemingly less) damage. It makes it so unsatisfying. Blaster bolts look like shit/don't exist.
Mood lighting in BF1 was done artistically and with care, lighting in BF2 is washed out and lazy with glaring contrast and exposure issues that make everything impossible to see.

One thing I liked about Battlefront 2015 was that all of the weapons were unique. In Battlefront II (2017), all of the starter weapons operate exactly the same as each other; they just have different sounds and looks. Pretty lazy on the devs part if you ask me.

Battlefront was my very first PS4 game. I enjoyed it very much. Hours and hours of fun. In my opinion, the e11 is without a doubt the best weapon in the game.

To be honest though I like the new Battlefront 2 more than the old ones. (Wait! Hear me out!) The old ones just look like complete shit now. It's at that point where it's not old enough to be retro but it's way to old to be modern. Second it seemed too linear; capture points. That was it. I like having something else to do rather than just do the same thing in a different spot. Thirdly, it obviously doesn't have the Resistance or First Order as the prequel trilogy wasn't even fully out yet. I'm not gonna count that as too much against it hence that's why it's third, but come on! That's 1/3 of Star Wars completely missing! Don't get me wrong, I loved the originals, but I like the new ones a lot more. They have more content, they're more fun, and they look MUCH better.

The atmosphere in the first one was just way better. In the second one everything just looks that plastic like and many unnecessary effects just get you out of the universe. The first one was just way better in atmosphere and what was espacially great was the weapon feeling. The second one just didn't nail it.
