I was interested in getting Doug’s stuff as I am a rock player who has fallen in love with ripping country guitar and Doug was always an inspiration and the type of country player I wanted to become. I never got his stuff because I heard he dropped off the face of the earth and wondered whatever happened to him. Good on you for doing this brother! I've been a fan of Doug's videos and teaching since the early 2000s. Since he disappeared from the internet I've been looking for him and praying for him a couple of times every year. So glad to see him back. Sorry to hear about all the trials he's been through. He's a phenomenal talent.
I have to tell you it’s bizarre that you’re contacting Doug. Besides your guitar chops and wonderful interviewing skills, your compassion and honesty always shines thru. Around 2016 I wrote to Doug and asked him to evaluate my hybrid picking and country playing. This style was still new for me even though I had played professionally in other styles. I was moving my family from NY to Nashville and he was so kind and encouraging in addition to being an amazing player. I could tell something was going on with him but I’m glad you were able to discuss it. Great interview with one of my favorites👍
Jimmy, this is fantastic! I actually have received quite a bit of heat from interviewing him. I didn’t know anything about his past, but it’s pretty evident that he has had some challenging times (as we all have). I’m so glad that this resonated with you well!
Doug is one of my best friends and collaborators in the world. If you have his Seven CD, I'm singing on it. We've played in bands together for decades. Bought his Sizzling Licks volume 1 & 2 cd's years ago and love his playing, he is a monster picker. Sure wondered what happened to him, really happy that he is back. I'm very happy Doug Seven is OK and I hate to hear what he had to go through. I was learning a lot from him. That said, I feel burnt after spending $130.00 for a lifetime subscription to the guitar hub, only to find it gone, weeks later, with no explanation.

All I want is the two downloads I purchased (3 Pillars of Soloing Rapid Fire Edition and Playing in Circles) that I lost when he shut down the Sizzling guitar Hub. What would have happened if I would have responded to one of the 40 emails trying to get me to purchase the whole bundle at once? It's time for Doug to make good.
The people want to know how. How do we get our brain to think in country lingo. How do we get up the neck, what are ALL the country techniques, and what are the exercises to get us there. Most instructors say, here, play this lick. We want an instructor that says, this lick is in A major but adds the b3, b5. Then it use a b7 making it Mixolydian. Little chunks.

However, it takes more then some fast picking licks to be a successful guitarist in Nashville, trust me. I grew up playing bars & clubs in Cleveland with a guitarist & pal who is one of Nashville's sought after session & touring guitarist Tom Bukovac. I'm not being pessimistic or saying Doug has no chance at success on Music Row, I wish him & every musicians nothing but the best, go for it. There's just a lot more to the music industry than what most people think. You have to be & have the whole package, even then luck plays a part, there are many factors involved people overlook. Seriously, don't you think he'd be in Nashville right now doing all that guitar work if it was that easy? Ye-haw, giddy up & go get it, good stuff here though my friend, keep on, keeping on! ++Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul++
Amen about the on-stage development! Every time a kid brings a new IG wiz spectacle player to my attention. I ask, are there any vids of him or her playing live in a band? Or w/ backing tracks live in a venue? Has this guy or woman played a gig ever? Do they even have one live studio produced vids without camera angles changing? Great vid! Doug is a great player! Love this channel!

I suppose I was lucky/unlucky enough to have done a lot of that in my earlier years. Some of the more laughable moments that I have seen is when people play rhythm guitar. Thank You for your kind words, Don! To be honest with you, I love doing the guitar interviews. The sad thing is that it really doesn't help me build a base other than being a, "great interviewer." Unfortunately, that's incredibly difficult to monetize! Not to mention, lots of players see me as a "nobody," so what I found was that many people that I thought would make a good interview simply ignored my outreach. Doug is a great guy and he deserves this interview! I will have to continue doing the tutorials considering that that is where I need to try to build my base. After all, I am a teacher by trade!
