That is so sad that he passed away. He was a great actor as Jack Abbott. I remember Peter Bergman playing Dr. Cliff Warner on All My Children.

Terry Lester quit because of Lauralee Bell, personally he was 100% right.
She is an absolutely horrible actress and because of her father she never had to worry about getting fired.
It's so unfair how so many great actresses don't ever get work and this horrible actress gets a job cause of her name.
Luckily now she's no longer on the show and let's hope it stays that way.
Tori Spelling was another horrible, who lived off the coattails of her father, producer Aaron Spelling.

The very first time I watched the Y & R was in July 1982 when Jack was about to marry Patty (Paul Williams's sister). Everyone was at the church waiting for Jack (Mr. Lester) to arrive. Finally, Jack's sister Ashley went to Jack's apartment to look for him and found him in bed with Diane (I believe a Jabol model). Ashley dragged him to the church (Jack was also completely hungover) and he married Patty LOL. Just a few years later Patty ended up shooting Jack. It was Mr. Lester's acting as Jack that made the Y & R the dominant soap opera that it remains today. RIP Mr. Lester

I find it ironic that Doug Davidson said the same thing of Lauralee Bell, that she was getting more air time. So it wouldn't surprise me if it were also true with Lester. I've never liked her, and have always felt she over acted, and that many story lines did enolve her way too often. Also, I read there was speculation of Terry Lester died from complications with AIDS. He may have been gay in person, idk, but he played the Hot playboy quite well.
Cricket is sweet, but if Lauralee Bell had to get acting jobs on her own merit, she'd never work. She is the epitome of nepotism.
@@staciasmith5162 Actually, I think Lauralee did a good job with the role. It is always easy to point to nepotism, but I don't think the Bell's would have kept her on if she was terrible as an actress . . . and she wasn't.
Terry was great in the role. When he left I didn't think anyone could fill his shoes but Peter Bergman won me over quickly. That was one of the times Y&R got re-casting right.
I gotta admit Peter Bergman was very good at playing jack abbot but for me terry lester was phenomenal to play jack abbot

@@rosettachaney8088 In 1991, Jack vs. Victor spilled over into real life, as there was an on set brawl between Bergman and Braeden! The Young and the Restless creator William J. Bell had to threaten to fire both to get them to cool down. While Bergman and Braeden continue to share tons of storylines on Y&R, right to this day, apparently there still isn't much love lost between the two
I remember as a kid, my mom watching Y&R. I'd get hooked on it during summer vacation from school. Jack was always my favorite character. Loved his funny, snarky personality. To this day I only remember his story lines and scenes. The new guy came in and I lost interest. I never liked him, I thought he was strange looking. My late mom said he grew on her and she ended up finding him the best character. To this day, whenever I see him, he never replaced the Jack I grew up watching. The original Jack was the best. Funny but I remember him being so old to me, but now I'm probably 20 years older than he was during that time. I didn't know he died. I was wondering why you never hear or see him anymore. He is missed

Terry suited the part as a playboy then. Sorry but peter did not suit being a playboy so his character changed
Terry Lester play the part of Jack Abbott but he passed away and Peter Bergman has played Jack Abbott for 15 plus year's Terry Lester was a great actor After all these years you are still very much missed.
Well lauralee did suck up too much airtime. She stunk

Terry Lester was a great actor and was also part of why Nars beginning of its Heyday of many many years it is very sad to learn that he died so young I did not know this I really did not know why he left the show because and that time I was a lot younger than I am now and you just kind of learned according to relatives to accept the comings and goings on daytime I happen to know from experience now that daytime is a difficult business they learn many lines ever many hours everyday and some people can do it and some can't Terry Lester did it very well and gave all of his self everywhere he went and although Peter Bergman has warmed my heart overtime Terry Lester is the original Jack Abbott to me sincerely Joe Cooper PS I also liked his things with the original Jill Brandon Dixon the spelling of her last name is Dickson actually she was another great actress who just would not listen to the Head writers producers or owners or she'll probably would have stayed on the show I do remember it is her own fault that she is not on the show now for not following directions about her clothing and other issues
One of the comments below a scandal Terry Lester. He died suddenly unexpectedly in 2003 of a heart attack according to the video that was shown on trend on TH-cam that I watched that made me start this conversation and to those Peter Bergman fan I'm a Peter Bergman fan I think he does great we all mature the roles change but I do not like the fact that recently Eileen Davidson has been back on Days of Our Lives instead of the Family Stone together and are in Jack arguing like they used to Ashley was a very powerful adversary for Jack play biling Davidson and that should have continued and I really think Beth Maitland should come out of her shell more often instead of playing so nicey-nice I love her do not get me wrong folks but deck character is just too sweet thank you Joe Cooper

I like both actors.Again a perfect example of two different players making the role their own.I though it would be hard to replace Terry because he was very talented but Peter is talented as well.The both portrayed the character in their own way.
Terry lester was great,even my uncle don liked the original jack Abbott, the new one is great too.i grew up on terry lester and i just thought he was the best on the young and the restless throughout the 80s.
He left because it became the Cricket Blair show.

I have not watched an episode of Y&R since about the mid-1990s. While I've always liked the job Peter Bergman has done in his portrayal of Jack Abbott, anyone who regularly watched the pre-Cricket years of Y&R knows that Terry Lester is the REAL Jack Abbott.
I firmly believe his criticisms of the show's direction, which led to him leaving, were justified.

No, he died of a heart attack. If he died of AIDS, it was never reported in the media as his cause of death. While, there are still a tragic amount of AIDS deaths worldwide to this day, in 2003, medical advances had progressed pretty far here in the U.S.. AIDS deaths were decreasing by the late 90's/early 2000s. Stop the lies!!

Lauralee Bell did get special treatment because of her father she was right in the middle of every summer story line then at Christmas break from school and of course she drove right into a romance with Danny and when they got married it was in Hawaii not in g c so yeah she got special treatment

Terry was good......but Peter Bergman made the role ‘his own,’!!! P.S. Terry Lester was in KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK in 1978.......may he Rest In Peace.🙏🙏🙏😢😢😢
