I read the Mysterious Benedict Society in middle school (there wasn’t a fourth then). I own the first 3 and the prequel and I adored them. One of my all time favorite series to this day🥰❤️

I’m 31 and had not read for fun since The Goblet of Fire came out...you re-sparked a love of reading inside of me so bright 🔥 I thank you so much for saving my life. If you love Chris Riddell's illustrations then look at the Ottoline series by him, the first is 'Ottoline and the yellow cat burglar'. They were my favourite books as a child and the books themselves are beautiful.

So, this is the first "book tube" video I have ever watched, and, with all honesty, I am SO GLAD yours was the first I saw!! I really, really enjoyed watching this video. You are so enthusiastic and outgoing. I am a HUGE bookworm and love collecting pretty covers, as well. I read a lot of Jane Austen and other classic authors, but I have been reading Nicholas Sparks and Barbara Taylor Bradford more recently who are of course known more for romance. I have really been wanting to expand my book horizons but haven't really known where I wanted to start. So many of the books you mentioned sound like incredible reads, so thank you, Alexandra!! You are amazing! I am looking forward to buying and diving into some of these!!!! I cannot wait to explore more of your channel!!

As a kid, I absolutely loved the Mysterious Benedict Society and reread them a million times. My copies are super well-worn and I lost the dust jacket for the third book, but all the books just bring back such good memories. The nostalgia is real! I was so excited to see you talk about them. and now i found out there's a prequel that i need to get!

Thank you for recommending Blackwell. It is nice to have an affordable book site. A lot of the time the shipping cost to Australia makes me nope out of it. Also, have you looked into Future Girl by Asphyxia? The reason why I am recommending it to you is because every page in the book has a spread. You are reading about this girl who is an artist and so the book itself is a work of art. Future Girl is about an environmental catastrophe and food is becoming hard to get. Piper, a deaf girl, also has now met a CODA (child of deaf adult) and now she gets to meet people like her. It is just this beautiful book, and I think you will appreciate the aesthetic of it alone, plus I really loved the story myself.

I just finished all of the Mysterious Benedict Society myself. My favorite may have to be the extraordinary education of Nicholas Benedict. Or the first one. They all have such good endings that I began to look forward to the end because I knew they would deliver. And I was wondering wether you would read a book about a family in the middle of the Hawaii 1941. It would be entitled 31 days in Oahu. 300 page YA. I have just started writing it. Hence it will be a while. So sorry to hear about your family member.

Coastal little towns along the East Coast! I live in a small town (it’s literally a hallmark movie here) in California and near LA but have always loved when books are set in New England area, maybe I just like that they get to have winter and real seasons? It seems so beautiful to have a fall season. Here we just have green plants until they burn from heat and flash floods because the streets aren’t designed for rain. 🤦🏼♀️

When you get to The Dutch House, I highly recommend the audiobook which is narrated by the national treasure known as Tom Hanks. His reading absolutely elevated this book to a whole ‘nother level. Afterwards, you can read the article Ann Patchett wrote on Harpers.org called “These Precious Days” about how Hanks came to narrate the book, but actually the article is a heartwarming story about friendship, being vulnerable and discovering who we really are.
