I’d say this is preshading, just onto a base coat rather than primer. Very effective and looks easier to control than normal preshading. Something not quite right with your airbrush though, you shouldn’t get bubbles in the cup.
Preshading is when you have not applied the base colour first. Post shading is when you have applied the base colour first. In any case pre shading and post shading are not defined terms.

? I’ve always thought of it as pre shading if another coat is added over the shade, post shading is the final coat ready for weathering effects.

First technique was highlighting, second was pre shading.

Hmm I think you and me have very different versions of post shading and pre shading. In anycase I respect your views on it. Thanks for the feedback.
