Year 2002. 3:42 AM, I was at home, staring at my LSD efects. As usual, my TV was on MTV. And this video just started. I knew Ministry in 90's, but in that night... in that night I knew madness!

Technically speaking, Ministry was under the contract of making this gem of a song specifically for the film:
The band in the film they’re impersonating is a Ministry tribute band circa the year 2100: I don’t even know if they had a name for themselves in the film.

He is up there with the Beatles on my list. Perhaps #1 or 2 at this point in uncle Al's career so far. Why cus his music and imagery are prophetic. Like seeing a super Nova it's something no one ever got to see. They say a star that burns twice as bright burns half as long but Al is still here shining like the sun to the world of lies covered in darkness. So of course the world hates him. Remember uncle Al the world hated Jesus and if they treated him like that how will he treat you. They know who you are how could you be invisible?

Just like another speck of dust that's on the highway of life
He Screams at anyone who'll listen that the end is in sight
So then he circles the wagons or he just circles then quits
Cause the Highway could become the final battling pit
So when the company wants, Another problem resolved
Or if the company wants a choice of nothing at all
Point your thumb out to the highway through the heat and the dust
And raise your finger in the middle till you shout
    "What About Us!" [x4]
Just like another last call, it means nothing at all
You either kiss a lot of ass, or tear the clock off the wall
Another warning ignored another sign of the times
They say the sky is gonna fall, so why not drink till your blind
So when the company wants another company-man
Or when the company wants another 1,000 year plan
You'll let your boot go up the road you cannot possibly trust
Till the screaming hits the ceiling and you ask:
    "What About Us?" [x9]
Don't follow my path to extinction, if I had a mind I'd leave it alone
We speak of aliteration, can't even get on medication
Like a journey to the inside of carnal-fiction
Release yourself where the preditor prays, rewind your mind, freeze your
    World apart
Wage war on the eye which cannot see
    Destroy the temple of emptyness
And what about them in the wake of damnation
And what about us? Do We come from God?"
Just like the old soft shoe or the old song and dance
The only check that's in the mail is prob'ly already cashed
Are you a victim of chance? is this the way to succeed?
Or just a crack in the wall of what the people believe
So when the company wants the final weapon online
When the company wants to reposess your mind
You gotta wonder if the fear that we loathe or trust
Would ever waste a precious second trying to answer
    What about us [x6]
    Do We Come from God?

I did always wish that Al would turn down the "white noise" end of this era of music a bit because I always wanted Paul UP more. Except for "So What" and "Cannibal Song" which have Paul a nice level, he was often lost in songs. Still, I loved the hollow body that he sported in "Shuintour". Why did he quit/get fired?

in uncle als autobiography he stated that paul barker couldnt play a fast beat on bass to save his life.he also stated that paul took out a 2 million dollar life insurance policy on al through warner brothers records.al found out and was pissed because instead of understanding als crazy lifestyle or helping him get clean he became a ghouldigger.hence the ministry song ghouldigger and animosity both written about paul barker.

Back in "96 when Filth Pig came out I read an interview in Pulse Magazine with Paul Barker.
Highlights From what I recall -
He went on to state that Uncle Al's shenanigans in Texas pretty much broke up the group. Prior to that the group was located in Chicago, they had decided to relocate to Texas to get away from the bad environment that was in Da Chi. Paul still resided in Chicago though, when he traveled to the Texas compound he'd notice all these characters that had nothing to do with the group, were basically not allowing any work to get done. He would travel back an forth between both places, and it was always the same story all the time either the were off "shooting guns or shooting up" these moochers were there leeching off Al and putting the groups future at risk. He goes on to describe the compound as pretty much like the one in Waco...He was dumbfounded by what had transpired since the reason Al had the group relocated was to get away from the same environment he had recreated in Texas.
Paul believed it was a great step backward in the groups evolution since the passion and commitment that was present in The Land 0f Rape and Honey, and The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste was obviously absent in Filth Pig and one could clearly tell with the end product.
Dude was friggin angry at the end of the interview he claimed that would be the last Ministry album, at least that he would be involved with. He stated it was a big let down for him his fellow band-mates as well as the fans. To come off the momentum of a major ground breaking album like Psalm 69 into this, clearly signaled his future departure.
I even drew a crappy picture of Paul from that magazine article I still have it :)

    • @TheCorrectViews
      @TheCorrectViews 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Nice reply. I suspected that there was two sides to this. Paul took out a life insurance on Al and almost bet on him dying. Now we know why, though Al thinks Paul shoulda' tried to STOP his use. How? It was unstoppable. SO sad. THis was an amazing song that no one knows. Lost in the madness.

She was Al's girlfriend at the time, which is the only reason she was apart of all this. I agree, she added nothing to the group. She was on the Animositisomina tour, and all she did was come out and head bang to Bad Blood, and the music was too loud to hear any of her vocals.

Be great to hear them play this one live...but Uncle Al’s fractured voice & short term memory loss wouldn’t be able to handle it...he has deteriorated greatly and is way too lazy to include classic songs like this one or Everyday is Halloween, for instance...the Ministry catalogue before 2004 is so much better than the incarnation of generic death metal thrash to the fold...with the exception of the 2 seminal albums Houses of the Mole & Rio Grande Blood...Ministry last 3 records have been nothing short of truly embarrassing...AmeriKKKant is not a complete failure but nothing compares to the Nuwave synth-pop Gothy Al Jourgensen and the Uncle Al + Paul Barker era Ministry 😪. Hypo Luxa & Hermès Pan is forever, Cretins 💪🤙

You never know, Al is starting to dig up some old stuff, he played Everyday is Halloween at the concert I went to recently.
